262: Chapter 262 Fist Shakes the Temple
Wei Jianguo slammed both hands onto the main throttle in the control room.
"Molten Spear, ignition at full capacity!" Wei Jianguo bellowed at the top of his lungs.
A dull sound of mechanical gears engaging emanated from the front of the Aerospace Carrier. At the very front of the massive inverted triangular chassis, a layer of pure black composite armor rapidly slid open to the sides.
A perfectly circular cannon muzzle with a diameter of a full hundred meters extended outward. There was no warning, not even the sound of recoil from the projectile firing. A blinding, searing white beam of light smashed downward vertically.
The moment the white light made contact with the ice surface, the surrounding snowstorm fell into dead silence.
"All surveillance cameras are incinerated, and the external pressure readings are off the charts."
Wu Dong stared intently at the screen, which was flashing with endless red warning boxes, his hands flying across the keyboard. "The three-thousand-meter-thick ice sheet is rapidly vaporizing; they don't even have room to resist."
Massive amounts of water vapor exploded from beneath the glacier. A colossal white column of clouds, several kilometers in diameter, shot straight into the stratosphere. The extreme Antarctic cold was forcibly severed by this terrifying industrial-grade heat, and the blizzard in the sky was violently dispersed by the shockwave.
Ten minutes passed.
"We've reached the bottom," Wei Jianguo said, his face flushed red. "Scanning feedback from a metal structure at the base."
Lu Chen held that paint-chipped tea mug and took a sip of tea.
"Cease fire," Lu Chen said calmly.
The searing white beam of light vanished instantly. On the main control room's large screen, the thick water vapor slowly dissipated. A metal dome covered in abyss-blue patterns was exposed to the minus seventy-degree cold wind. The dome was unimaginably massive, its surface etched with old yet intricate mechanical transmission tracks, which had stubbornly withstood the residual heat of the Molten Spear.
"The material used for this turtle shell is quite solid." Lu Chen put down the tea mug and tapped the table.
"Old Zhou."
"Here, Boss." Old Zhou's voice came through the walkie-talkie.
"Notify Da Biao. It's time to open the door and get to work," Lu Chen said in a calm tone.
Inside the launch bay, urgent red alarm lights swept back and forth.
Da Biao pressed the communication button on his headset.
"The Boss has spoken. That metal tortoise below has poked its head out. Brothers, let's go knock on the door!" Da Biao roared.
Five hundred Death Squad Soldiers simultaneously reached out to pull down their faceplates, and the pure black bodies of their Sky Dome Heavy Armor hermetically sealed.
Da Biao touched the armor lining inside his chest; the black sphere Lu Chen had given him lay quietly inside.
"The iron ball the Boss ordered me to carry is in my pocket," Da Biao turned to look at the phalanx behind him. "Don't you dare let these thrusters Old Wei built fail. If anyone falls halfway and gets smashed into meat paste, I'll personally scatter your ashes into the sea."
"Don't worry, Captain," Number 037 replied in a muffled voice from the first row of the formation. "These tubes have massive thrust."
The metal hatch slid open with a boom, and a fierce wind poured into the troop bay.
Da Biao leaped out.
Five hundred massive black figures jumped out of the Aerospace Carrier one after another.
Micro-vector thrusters on their backs erupted with blinding deep blue fire. The five hundred humanoid heavy armors maintained a ninety-degree vertical combat posture, plummeting at high speed toward the massive metal dome below.
"Warning, enemy anti-aircraft fire has locked on." Wu Dong's voice sounded in the encrypted channel.
Thousands of hidden compartments on the surface of the metal dome below slid open instantly. Thousands of silver suicide drones swarmed out, blotting out the sky. On the ground, dense swarms of eight-legged mechanical spiders climbed rapidly along the curve of the metal dome, their back-mounted multi-barrel machine guns all raised and aimed at the sky.
"Are these old fogies trying to fob us off with these iron flies?" Da Biao sneered in mid-air.
"Draw your blades and give them a manicure."
Five hundred ultra-high-frequency oscillating combat blades were drawn simultaneously. Dark red blade-light crisscrossed in mid-air, completely sealing off the drones' advance route.
The first wave of the drone swarm crashed headlong into the blade-light. Dense flashes of explosion fire continued one after another.
"This stuff isn't even qualified to scratch an itch." Number 037 charged into the fireballs of the explosions, and three drones disintegrated on the spot.
He swung his combat blade, flashing red. Dozens of drones were snapped in two, and the high-temperature fireballs caused by the explosions didn't even scrape a layer of primer off the Sky Dome armor's shell.
"Ignore the junk in the sky," Da Biao's voice was cold. "Engines at full power, smash down."
The thrusters emitted a violent, tearing sound. Five hundred mechanical armors, each weighing several tons at full load, carried terrifying gravitational acceleration as they slammed directly into the dense swarm of mechanical spiders below.
The moment they landed, dozens of mechanical spiders were crushed flat, with motherboard components and hydraulic fluid splattering everywhere.
The peripheral mechanical spiders quickly rotated their muzzles, pouring armor-piercing rounds like rain onto the surface of the heavy armor. A loud clanging sound erupted as the bullets struck the Magnetofluid Shield, only to be deflected and bounced off, sending sparks flying.
"Cut them all down." Da Biao spat out three words.
The Death Squad Soldiers drew their dark red long blades and charged into the mecha swarm. As the combat blades swung down, the polymer shells of the mechanical spiders were hacked to pieces.
"These foreigners rely on these toys to rule the world?" Number 042 grabbed the barrel of a mechanical spider with one hand, exerted force from his arm muscles, and ripped it out by the root.
"This blade built by Engineer Wei is really handy." Number 037 took the opportunity to jam a severed spider leg into the engine of a drone. The battle turned into a one-sided dismantling, with no suspense at all.
"Da Biao, there is an energy transmission break in the dome's defense network," Wu Dong reminded him over the channel. "At the ten o'clock position, three hundred meters away, there is a physical backup maintenance window."
"Received." Da Biao crushed the sensor of a mechanical spider under his foot.
"Everyone, stay close. We'll take care of the door in five minutes."
Five hundred men pushed forward through the hail of bullets, leveling everything in their path until they reached the target coordinates. Da Biao stood still, staring at the seamless, gigantic alloy plate beneath his feet.
"The high-dimensional dissolving fluid the Boss gave us was used up in the vault last time," Number 037 said, walking over with his blade in hand. "Captain, there's no gap in this door, how do we pry it open?"
"Pry the door, my ass." Da Biao gripped his blade handle with both hands in a reverse hold.
The hydraulic valves inside his leg armor roared violently. Da Biao launched himself into the air, his entire body carrying immense downward force as he slammed fiercely into that energy break. High-frequency oscillation combined with over ten tons of pure, brute force erupted. The alloy plate emitted a terrifying, teeth-grinding screech, and a half-meter-wide crack suddenly burst open.
"Open up for me!" Da Biao pulled out his combat blade, his ten fingers gripping the edges on both sides of the crack with a death grip. The gears in his shoulder Exoskeleton locked, and his mutated muscle fibers and mechanical transmission simultaneously pushed the output power to the limit. A piercing sound of metal snapping echoed out. The three-meter-thick composite armor plate was forcibly bent to the sides by him, tearing open a five-meter-wide gap in the middle.
"Enter." Da Biao was the first to jump into the underground passage. Five hundred Death Squad Soldiers followed closely behind.
The moment their feet touched the ground, the scene before them caused everyone to freeze in unison. There was no oppressive steel and concrete, nor the pungent smell of machine oil typical of an arms factory.
Here, there was an entire artificial simulated sky system. Warm sunlight spilled down from an artificial light source a hundred meters overhead. Directly below was a large, neatly trimmed emerald lawn, clear circulating lake water, and rows of pure white European-style luxury villas. The air filtration system was filled with the rich fragrance of flowers, and the temperature was kept at a comfortable twenty-five degrees.
"How interesting." Da Biao glanced at the thermometer on his visor screen and cursed out loud.
"Outside, the ice and snow are about to freeze the whole Earth to a standstill, and these old undying things are hiding underground, enjoying spring and living in luxury."
"Da Biao, do you see anyone?" Lu Chen's voice cut into the channel.
"I don't see any rats, just fake mountains and fake water." Da Biao stomped on the soft soil beneath his feet.
"Nerve ending signal located at the first basement level of the central plaza," Wu Dong quickly broadcast the coordinates. "They have realized the outer perimeter network has been breached, and the internal defense mechanism is activating."
"Captain, there are iron shells coming this way ahead." Number 037 raised his hand.
In the distance, at the end of the white European-style street, rows of neat silver figures appeared. These were three hundred heavy-armored giants, each over two meters tall. They were completely encased in seamless silver power armor, with the highest-level All-Seeing Eye pyramid emblem of Freemasons engraved on their chests, and every one of their eye areas emitted a cold, inorganic blue light.
"Those are the Templar Knights guard," Wu Dong said rapidly over the headset. "This is the ace Freemasons have kept hidden to the end. Data shows that these people have had all their pain neurons removed, and their bones have undergone large-scale mechanical ascension replacements. Their individual combat power is maxed out."
The three hundred Templar Knights marched in perfect unison. There wasn't a single superfluous tactical movement; every step they took on the stone road emitted a metallic echo so heavy it was oppressive. The entire formation walked to the center of the plaza and slowly parted to the sides.
A terrifying giant nearly three meters tall strode out. The giant's silver armor was covered in dense, golden magic-conducting rune lines. He dragged a heavy energy battle-axe nearly two meters long in one hand. On the wide blade of the battle-axe, high-voltage electric arcs continuously leaped and flickered.
The giant stopped thirty meters directly in front of Da Biao.
"Intruder from the bottom level detected," the giant emitted a synthetic electronic voice without any emotional fluctuation. "Entering a restricted area is punishable by death."
Wu Dong glanced at the data stream and hurriedly called out: "Da Biao, the energy source inside the opponent has exceeded the critical load value. The plasma output of that axe can melt even the main steel plate of an aircraft carrier. Don't try to take it head-on."
Da Biao raised his hand and turned off the helmet's external communication. He pressed the airtight latch on the neck of his armor. "Hiss..." High-temperature white mist sprayed out. Da Biao took off his pure black, fully enclosed helmet and casually threw it onto the neatly trimmed, expensive lawn nearby.
He revealed a face covered in a dark cyan metallic luster, with veins as thick as a baby's forearm bulging on his thick neck. Da Biao stared at the three-meter-tall iron hunk in front of him, twisting his neck from side to side, his joints grinding with a sharp, crisp sound. The five hundred Death Squad Soldiers behind him did not receive any orders and remained absolutely silent, staring fixedly ahead.
"You think you're invincible just by piecing together a few piles of scrap metal?" Da Biao grinned, his fleshy face twisting together.
The giant raised his battle-axe expressionlessly. High-voltage electric arcs crackled and popped, and the surrounding turf was instantly scorched into black ash by the high temperature.
"Order issued: annihilate completely." The giant repeated mechanically.
Three hundred Templar Knights simultaneously raised the heavy firearms on their arms.
Da Biao took a step forward. He stopped, loosened his wrists, and did not draw the ultra-high-frequency oscillating combat blade at his waist.
Da Biao grinned, put away his blade, and clenched his fists. "Today, I'll show you with my fists who the real daddy of genetic modification is."
