140: Chapter 140 Four Nines Purity! The Confidence to Crush Morgan
Da Biao had just walked to the first-floor lobby when Old Zhou's scream came through the walkie-talkie.
"Da Biao! The national highway is blocked! Three or four thousand people are using dump trucks to block the road! All eight armored cash transport vehicles of China Construction Bank are trapped in the middle of the road by them!"
Da Biao gripped the walkie-talkie, the veins on the back of his hand bulging.
"Who is leading them?" Da Biao asked through gritted teeth.
"It's the bosses of those sweatshop shoe factories in the South District! They say we poached all their workers with high salaries and are cutting off their livelihood. If we don't send the workers back today, don't even think about letting the cash transport vehicles through!" Old Zhou was shivering in the guard booth.
Da Biao touched the half-length police baton at his waist and walked out with a cold face.
Just as he left the lobby, a pair of rough, large hands pressed down on Da Biao's shoulders.
Director Li Jianguo had two buttons of his uniform undone, a half-smoked cigarette in his mouth, and his eyes were bloodshot.
"Where are you going?" Director Li Jianguo exhaled a puff of smoke.
"To slash some people. Someone is blocking the cash transport vehicles of China Construction Bank." Da Biao didn't hide his intent.
Director Li Jianguo laughed out of extreme anger. To open an air route for Lu Chen, he had gone to pick up that pile of stones overnight and was holding a belly full of frustration with nowhere to vent. Now, someone actually dared to openly intercept cash transport vehicles that had been cleared by the Municipal Public Security Bureau in his territory.
"Put the baton away." Director Li Jianguo patted Da Biao's chest.
Da Biao frowned.
"Director Li, Boss Lu said that if the settlement fees aren't paid out today, Old Zhou and I will be out on the street."
"Lu Chen is a madman, and you are just as stubborn. That 'gangster vs. gangster' act is outdated. Today, I'll teach you what legal violence is." Director Li Jianguo bit down on the cigarette butt and walked out of the main gate.
He picked up the walkie-talkie on his shoulder.
"Criminal Police Detachment, SWAT Team, you're all on the perimeter, right?" Director Li Jianguo roared into the microphone.
"Yes, Director."
"Stop resting. Someone is intercepting bank cash transport vehicles on the national highway. Classify this as organized robbery of financial transport vehicles. Send all fifty anti-riot armored vehicles that went to the airport to pick up the stones. Fire warning shots; if they don't get down, suppress them on the spot." Director Li Jianguo spat out the cigarette butt and crushed it heavily with his military boot.
Five minutes later.
At the entrance to the northern national highway, several dump trucks were parked horizontally in the middle of the road.
Seven or eight pot-bellied bosses stood on the truck beds, shouting through megaphones, while thousands of thugs below gripped wooden clubs in their hands.
The ground suddenly shook violently.
Dozens of blinding red and blue police lights cut through the thick morning fog.
Fifty black heavy-duty anti-riot armored vehicles, with deafening sirens, drove straight through the iron fence surrounding the dump trucks.
The screech of brakes was ear-piercing.
The doors sprang open, and over two hundred fully armed SWAT officers raised anti-riot shields and submachine guns, pressing forward directly.
The sound from the megaphone shattered eardrums.
"Drop your weapons! Hands on your heads! Anyone who dares to come within half a step of the cash transport vehicles will be killed without mercy!"
The few bosses standing on the dump trucks had their hands tremble, and the megaphones fell directly to the ground.
The thousands of thugs were stunned instantly, threw down their clubs, and squatted on the ground.
Da Biao stood outside the guard booth, watching this scene, and silently tucked the half-length police baton back.
"Take them all back to the bureau and detain them for half a month for endangering public safety. Clear the site; the bank's cash transport vehicles are to enter immediately." Director Li Jianguo snorted coldly.
Old Zhou hurried out.
"Quick! Get the eight hundred million in cash outside Warehouse No. 1 distributed immediately. If we don't recruit sixty thousand people by dark today, Boss Lu will skin me alive!"
Director Li Jianguo leaned against the police car and lit a cigarette.
"Old Zhou, your Boss Lu's move of using an open conspiracy is truly ruthless. With that fifty-billion tax bill submitted, the armed police of the entire province are now escorting you."
Old Zhou nodded repeatedly and ran off to arrange the money distribution.
Da Biao, with a cold face, turned and walked back to the basement.
Underground Level 3. Cleanroom.
The white mist from the liquid nitrogen case had completely dissipated. The one-ton purple crystal raw ore lay quietly on the tray.
Inside the isolation chamber, Wei Jianguo was wearing anti-static gloves, holding a diamond cutter in his hand.
Two experts beside him held high-intensity flashlights.
Wei Jianguo took a deep breath, placed the blade against the edge of the raw ore, and sliced down fiercely.
Click.
A very thin slice of purple crystal peeled off.
An assistant picked it up with anti-static tweezers and placed it into a high-precision spectrometer that cost tens of millions.
Beep.
The machine started running. The yellow reading progress bar crawled slowly across the screen.
The entire dust-free chamber was deathly silent. Only heavy breathing could be heard.
Five thousand veteran experts kept their eyes fixed on the display screen.
Ding.
The progress bar was full. A white test report sheet spat out from the outlet at the bottom of the machine.
The assistant failed to catch it, and the sheet fell to the ground.
Wei Jianguo shoved the assistant aside, knelt on the ground on both knees, and grabbed the report sheet.
He stared fixedly at the numbers on it. Bloodshot eyes instantly covered the whites of his eyes.
Lu Chen sat outside and knocked on the glass. He pressed the intercom button in front of him.
"Read the number." Lu Chen's voice was very calm.
Wei Jianguo's body went limp, his lips trembled, and he couldn't make a sound.
"Read the number." Lu Chen repeated.
Wei Jianguo raised his head and looked at Lu Chen through the glass. Tears welled up, blurring his anti-dust hood into a mess.
"Nine... nine..." Wei Jianguo's throat was so hoarse that his voice changed pitch.
"Nine what?" Da Biao asked, standing next to Lu Chen.
"Ninety-nine point nine nine nine nine percent!" Wei Jianguo sprang up, waving the sheet in his hand and roaring, "Four nines after the decimal point! Four nines!"
Outside the corridor, thousands of experts exploded into chaos instantly.
Some slumped to the ground wailing, others hugged each other and jumped for joy.
"Four nines after the decimal point?" Lu Chen tilted his head, "Is that very high?"
Inside the isolation chamber, Wei Jianguo was hysterical.
"Boss Lu! This isn't industrial grade material! This is God's masterpiece! New Jersey Mining of the Morgan Consortium monopolized the world's best associated ores; their benchmark data after twenty years of refining is only ninety-nine point nine nine percent at most. This stone we just dug up has a purity two orders of magnitude higher than theirs!"
Wei Jianguo gripped the test report tightly.
"Traditional quartz sand lenses are prone to thermal expansion faults under the extreme heat of ultraviolet light sources. That's why our previous ignition failed."
Wei Jianguo gasped for air.
"But this extra ninety-nine ten-thousandths means its light refractive index is absolutely perfect."
Wei Jianguo pointed to the massive etching machine next to him.
"Install it, and our etching precision can even skip twenty-eight nanometers directly and impact the limit barrier of fourteen nanometers. We will trample Morgan directly under our feet!" Wei Jianguo roared until his veins bulged.
Lu Chen watched him quietly. He threw the cigarette butt into the trash can.
He stood up.
"Song Changming." Lu Chen called out to the air.
At the end of the corridor, a limping Song Changming squeezed out. Blood from his thigh seeped through the gauze, leaving a patch of dark red on his trouser leg.
"Boss, I'm here." Song Changming's throat was still ruined.
"Take the stone to the Quantum Gravity Smelting Center." Lu Chen pointed to the purple crystal inside the chamber, "How long will it take to carve the lens?"
Song Changming took a look at the purple crystal.
