208: Acropolis

This was too awkward. Mu Jiu quickly went over and pressed the Old Emperor's philtrum. After a long while, the Old Emperor slowly woke up.

As soon as he woke up, he heard Mu Jiu complaining while pressing his philtrum, "You're too rough."

He looked around and realized that it was Mu Jiu and her husband, the Barbarian King, who had arrived, and he breathed a sigh of relief.

The Old Emperor scrambled to his feet, trying to appear calm.

"Where did you come from?"

"Father, we heard that He Jin was treating you very badly, so my husband and I discussed it and decided to take you out to relax."

"Relax?"

The Old Emperor's eyes lit up. He had been under house arrest here for a long time, so if someone wanted to take him out to relax, that would be great.

"Yes, I'll take you to Wei City. That's my territory, absolutely safe. I'll take you there to live some peaceful days, instead of being constantly on edge and suffering their indignities here."

The Old Emperor was overjoyed, but still a little uneasy: "But He Jin has guards everywhere in the Imperial Palace, how can we escape?"

Han Huohuo finally couldn't help but speak: "It's fine, I'm here. Let's go."

The Old Emperor glanced at Han Huohuo and immediately gained confidence, muttering to himself: "My son-in-law kills without batting an eye, even ghosts fear him. It should be fine."

Han Xin and Hua Mulan looked up at the sky, pretending they heard nothing.

Liu Jin came over. Time was urgent; the patrol would be here soon. He quickly led them away in a hurry. The Old Emperor praised as he ran: "You are a loyal official. When I return, I will reward you handsomely!"

Liu Jin just smiled without a word.

Probably no one expected such a weak, incompetent, and timid Old Emperor to escape.

So the journey was smooth all the way.

They quietly left the Imperial Palace.

Liu Jin did not go with them. The Imperial Palace's carriage was too conspicuous and too easy to intercept. The spies arranged by Hua Mulan had already brought an inconspicuous carriage. The group switched carriages and headed out of the city.

Liu Jin drove back to the Imperial Palace alone and continued to lie low.

The patrolling guards soon discovered that the Old Emperor had escaped. The four guards had died tragically in the back garden, and the news was quickly reported to He Jin.

The group drove the carriage wildly, preparing to leave the city.

As they neared the city gate, Hua Mulan spurred her horse.

The city gate guards had already received the news and were closing the gate. Once the gate was shut, Han Huohuo and the others would be trapped like turtles in a jar.

"Charge forward, don't stop!" Han Huohuo shouted.

Hua Mulan was driving the carriage. She blindly obeyed Han Huohuo's words, driving the carriage straight towards the city gate, not only not slowing down but even accelerating. The surrounding soldiers thought she might have gone mad.

Space-time reversal!

Han Huohuo raised his Ice Blade and pointed it at the city gate. The magic immediately took effect. The gate, which had just closed, suddenly reverted to its open state from a few minutes ago.

The city guards thought their eyes were playing tricks on them. They stared for a long time, unable to comprehend this maneuver.

The carriage sped out.

He Jin, still not fully sober from his drunkenness, was furious upon hearing the news and immediately rallied his cavalry to pursue them quickly.

As soon as they left the city gate, they were constantly obstructed by small groups of mechanical guards. Because they were hidden in various ditches, these were small forces and naturally could not stop He Jin's army.

Han Xin didn't intend to stop He Jin; his goal was merely to delay him slightly.

Moreover, the dispatched army was very weak, giving He Jin the illusion that the enemy was weak.

He Jin, emboldened by alcohol, daringly pursued them all the way to Wei City!

Han Xin had never seen such a foolish General. More than half of his strategies went unused; He Jin charged in like a reckless bull.

He had stationed heavy troops here in Wei City. He Jin, drunk, charged at the very front. Flamethrower soldiers emerged from all sides, immediately surrounding the cavalry. The terrifying Apocalypse Tank emitted a rumbling engine sound, its cannon pointed at He Jin.

The cavalry reined in their warhorses in a panic.

He Jin was finally startled awake, lamenting his rashness and falling into a trap. He had already charged out of the cavalry formation, leading the way, and had actually run to the very front.

Han Huohuo gave him the middle finger, disdainfully saying, "You really think you're Li Shimin, daring to lead the charge yourself?"

He Jin reined in his horse, just about to escape back, when a fierce female General on horseback charged over rapidly and fought him. In just a few moves, she captured and subdued him.

Han Huohuo covered his face, unable to bear watching.

This guy, he even became a Prime Minister and managed to control the Great Capital. Is the Great Qian Empire really out of people?

Han Xin just set a simple trap, and this guy jumped right into it. He's simply brainless.

The female General was Hua Mulan. She was tall and grabbed He Jin as if he were a child, bringing him before the Old Emperor.

He Jin trembled with fear, unsure how the Old Emperor would punish him.

The Old Emperor was very happy: "Haha, young man, you have your day too, don't you?"

He Jin panicked and questioned: "You... what do you want to do? I am the Empire's Prime Minister, and a large army is coming. Don't act rashly."

Then he pointed at Han Huohuo: "I know you, you are the Barbarian King. Do your Barbarian tribes also intend to interfere in the Great Qian Dynasty? Aren't you afraid of being opposed by everyone?"

Han Huohuo shrugged: "Don't put words in my mouth. I have no intention of interfering in your Great Qian Dynasty's internal affairs, but this is my father-in-law. I'm just trying to persuade him to give up the throne to you and then return with me to Tongtian City to retire, that's all."

"Ah?"

As soon as Han Huohuo spoke, not only was He Jin dumbfounded, but even the Old Emperor was stunned.

What was going on?

He Jin pondered, 'You captured me to make me Emperor? Is that even plausible?'

Mu Jiu saw the Old Emperor's expression was off and knew that Han Huohuo's old habit had resurfaced: he spoke whatever came to mind, never considering the method.

She quickly came over to ease the situation: "That's what he thinks. Ultimately, we'll listen to Father's opinion. Let's first relax well here in Wei City."

The Old Emperor's expression softened, and he nodded: "Yes, yes, I've been so cooped up. I must have a good time here."

Han Huohuo didn't concern himself with the father and daughter's affairs.

The Old Emperor was probably truly stifled; he had been confined to the garden all day, unable to go anywhere else. Finally, he could play freely here again.

In the following days, the Old Emperor, accompanied by Mu Jiu, toured Wei City, even boarding Han Huohuo's warship, marveling and wondering how the Barbarians could possess such a powerful navy. He was so engrossed he forgot all about home. He Jin, meanwhile, was imprisoned, constantly terrified and flustered, unable to comprehend why His Majesty had rebelled.

The army in the Great Capital began to gather. He Jin's brother and confidants led a large army and had already surrounded Wei City.

A major battle was on the verge of breaking out.

However, because He Jin was captured, they were hesitant to act, and neither side dared to make a move, resulting in a stalemate.

Mu Jiu accompanied her father on various shopping and sightseeing trips, and the Old Emperor found everything very curious.

Then, taking this opportunity, Mu Jiu told the Old Emperor her plan, hoping he would abdicate the throne and return to Tongtian City to retire.
