279: Cracks in the Black Hole

Dr. Mu is a top scientist. After his research, he discovered a crack in the black hole. He is trying to repair this crack, so he needs to study the black hole up close. But the biggest problem is that Zerg are continuously emerging from the black hole. We need warriors to escort the Doctor closer to the black hole so he can observe it up close.”

The female scientist chattered on, not caring if Han Huohuo was truly listening.

Passing through a long corridor, they quickly entered another laboratory.

A white-haired Old Emperor was fiddling with an illusory model of a Mobius strip, muttering words Han Huohuo couldn't understand.

Words like 'infinite,' 'repetition,' 'reappearance,' and so on.

What scientists say often sounds like nonsense to ordinary people; put a future scientist in modern times, and he'd be seen as a superstitious charlatan.

Monkeys cannot accept knowledge they cannot comprehend.

The Old Emperor was very focused.

Han Huohuo noticed that the Old Emperor's clothes were torn and patched. He couldn't help but want to laugh; it was the space age, yet he was still wearing patched clothes. This Old Emperor was truly eccentric.

“Old Mu, Lonely Star is here.”

The Old Emperor looked up and saw Han Huohuo walking in with a long spear. He was greatly surprised: “You… can manipulate this long spear now?”

Han Huohuo nodded and twirled the spear.

The Old Emperor was overjoyed: “Excellent! With this long spear, you can escort me to the edge of the black hole. I need to study the crack in that black hole. The energy within this long spear is incredibly terrifying, and those Zerg greatly fear it.”

“To… the black hole?” Han Huohuo gasped.

The system's mission had finally arrived.

“Completion Mission Three: Use the Lonely Star Spear to safely escort Dr. Mu close to the black hole to research the crack that has appeared in it.”

Holy crap!

Han Huohuo felt like cursing. Was this something a human could do?

Although he was a poor student, he knew how dangerous a black hole was. Was that a force humans could withstand? And he heard there were many space Zerg!

“Cheng Xin, take Lonely Star to get accustomed to the latest anti-gravity mech. Without an anti-gravity mech, we can't approach the black hole either.”

“Yes!”

Dr. Cheng led the bewildered Han Huohuo to the mech training room, where a super sci-fi mech was parked in the center of the room.

“This is the latest anti-gravity mech. Go try it out.”

The mech's cockpit was open. Han Huohuo walked over, leaped in, and put on the neural interface device. All of the mech's operation manuals and muscle memory instantly flooded into his body. Han Huohuo immediately knew how to operate the mech, as if he had already practiced for thousands of hours.

It truly was a high-tech world; no learning was needed, as combat experience was directly transmitted through the nerves.

Making the Lonely Star Spear even larger for the mech's use, Han Huohuo felt as if this mech were an extension of his own limbs. Wielding the massive spear, it was a hundred times more agile than when he used it himself.

The nervous system was even more terrifying; his reaction speed and thought speed were amplified a hundredfold. Up close, Han Huohuo could see bacteria floating in the air. From afar, he could see the surface of planets light-years away.

This weapon was simply too terrifying; if it were in the real world, it would be an invincible existence!

Han Huohuo's combat power directly soared a hundredfold after putting on the mech!

Under high-speed thought, Han Huohuo clearly perceived the entire particle-based process of Lonely Star transforming from illusory to solid, and a sudden realization dawned on him.

Before, he could only control its size and weight, making it larger or smaller, heavier or lighter, but he didn't know the principle behind it.

Now Han Huohuo understood; this was all just quantum and space-time technology, not some kind of metaphysics.

A powerful magnetic field and changes in space were very interesting.

“Congratulations, you have comprehended a skill: Size at Will.”

“Size at Will: Allows control over the quantum state changes of the divine artifact, enabling it to arbitrarily become larger or smaller, lighter or heavier. These changes have an upper limit and cannot be infinitely scaled.”

Han Huohuo hadn't expected that by leveraging the mech's thought-amplification ability in the upgraded instance, he would actually comprehend a new skill.

After a simple test, Han Huohuo exited the mech; he had completely mastered its combat techniques.

Suddenly, the space-time battleship shook.

“Warning: Entering black hole influence zone. Gravity anomaly!”

“Warning: Entering black hole influence zone. Gravity anomaly!”

….

The powerful gravity began to affect the entire fleet. The massive fleet started to vibrate back and forth in the gravitational waves, and everyone was very nervous.

They said black holes were invisible, but Han Huohuo could see clearly through the porthole: bright accretion disks surrounded a pitch-black center. Even an idiot would know there was something inside.

On the radar, he could also see an endless swarm of Zerg wandering around the black hole in the starry sky.

The fleet dared not advance further.

Dr. Mu, wearing his patched clothes, looked relaxed. He asked Han Huohuo: “Are you ready?”

Han Huohuo glanced at the Old Emperor, who seemed a bit strange, as if he had seen him somewhere before. But Han Huohuo was certain this Old Emperor was not the Master who forged Lonely Star; their temperaments and appearances were completely different. This Old Emperor looked a thousand times more sinister.

When scientists turn sinister, politicians have nothing on them.

He nodded: “I'm ready!”

Dr. Mu smiled: “Good, then let's set off. Let's see just how powerful these Zerg coming out of the black hole truly are!”

Han Huohuo felt a bit apprehensive, but there was nothing he could do; this was his mission.

The mech was not a fighter jet; it was more like personal armor. Han Huohuo donned the mech, gripping the Lonely Star Spear. The space battleship's exit appeared, and Han Huohuo flew into the starry sky.

A small spacecraft followed behind him, with only Dr. Mu inside.

Dr. Mu's voice came through Han Huohuo's ear: “Charge!”

He wielded the Lonely Star Spear and flew towards the black hole. True to its name, the anti-gravity mech made the black hole's powerful gravity almost imperceptible inside.

The space Zerg quickly discovered Han Huohuo and swarmed towards him. At the forefront were the Zerg soldiers, but all of them were enormous; the smallest Zerg was over a hundred meters long.

Han Huohuo paused. He had seen these Zerg soldiers before; weren't these the Zerg Kings?

The Zerg Kings, who lorded over the Desert, were merely minor Zerg soldiers here!

However, these Zerg soldiers were clearly healthier and stronger than the Zerg King in the Desert; that Zerg King was more like a severely wounded soldier.

These Zerg, countless trillions of them, swarmed forward like a dark tide.

Inside this mech, Han Huohuo's strength was amplified a hundredfold, and the long spear in his hand also grew to several hundred meters.
