287: The fifth fragment
Han Huohuo replied with a single word.
"Indeed!"
Han Huohuo also began to constantly gather his troops, and by April 20th,
Han Huohuos Mechanical Legion sallied forth from the city. At the same time, countless Undead, numbering in the billions, advanced southward from the Ice Field in the north, launching a coordinated attack on the Zerg.
Just a month ago, Han Huohuo was still locked in a desperate struggle with the Undead, but now, to his surprise, he found himself fighting alongside them. He began to feel as if this world was incredibly unreal.
The Undead sea tactic was ineffective against the Angel Kingdom, but it was incredibly effective against the Zerg.
The Undead sea and the Zerg sea crashed into each other like two colossal waves. As the war began, more and more Zerg died, and Undead Zerg began to rise on the battlefield to join the fight.
Undead Transformation, it was simply the Zerg's nightmare.
On the battlefield, as one dead Zerg after another rose again, transforming into Undead Zerg and turning to fight against the Zerg, the Zerg's faith finally collapsed.
Oh, my Insect God, run!
In this clash of numbers, the Undead clearly held the advantage, as they grew even more numerous the more they fought the Zerg.
The Undead were incredibly excited. This was the Undead's standard combat mode. Upon arriving in this world, they first faced the Mechanical Army, and then the purification by Angels. The Undead's racial advantage was completely suppressed, and they felt incredibly wronged in those battles.
The Zerg are good!
Kill!
Kill the living Zerg!
Delicious Zerg, charge!
The Undead finally smelled the scent of blood and flesh, the scent of living beings, and began to charge forward with howls.
These Undead were simply the bane of the Zerg!
The more Zerg there were, the more Undead there became.
Han Huohuos Mechanical Legion annihilated the Zerg besieging the city, then fought its way back to Rakshasa Country, where it unexpectedly rendezvoused with the Undead Army.
The Zerg were no longer visible ahead; terrifying Undead Army were everywhere.
Rows of neat Black Knights stood at the forefront of the formation. Upon seeing the Mechanical Legion, they silently departed, clearly having no intention of contesting Rakshasa Country's territory with Han Huohuo.
To the Undead, the Mechanical Legion was their natural enemy. Facing these lifeless mechanical beings, the Undead simply didn't know where to begin.
All Undead spells, diseases, curses, and even the more terrifying Undead Transformation, were completely useless against these mechanical beings.
The battle at Snow Wave City had left a psychological scar on the Undead; these terrifying, emotionless machines!
We Undead are a passionate race, unlike them!
Machines are too impersonal!
The Undead all complained thus.
The tide of Zerg that had surged from the west now ebbed back westward like a tide.
Poor Rakshasa Country, not a single living person remained; the entire nation was completely erased by the Zerg.
The Mechanical Army arrived at an extremely large city. On the map, this was the capital of Rakshasa Country.
Han Huohuo stood upon the ruins of the massive city. All the people here had died, and many buildings remained, though they were incredibly filthy, covered in Zerg slime and excrement, emitting a foul stench.
Disgusting Zerg!
The Time-Space Eye on his forehead began to sense intensely again. Han Huohuo waved his hand, signaling the army to halt, then walked into a relatively intact building nearby.
The building resembled a former palace, but its doors and windows were shattered. Inside, the floor was still marble. Han Huohuo ran his hand over one of the marble floor tiles, then pulled hard, and the marble tile was dislodged.
A dark, gaping hole appeared beneath.
Han Huohuo's heart quickened. A kingdom that had suddenly perished would surely leave behind many treasures, and those treasures were not the Zerg's target. Therefore, this might just be a treasure vault.
Judging by this building, it should have been a royal structure.
A spiral staircase leading downwards appeared before Han Huohuo's eyes.
Han Huohuo first sent a Floating Turret down. The Floating Turret drifted along the spiral staircase into the underground chamber. Before long, the Floating Turret returned, indicating that the space inside was not large.
Seeing no danger, Han Huohuo descended the stairs.
There was a very foul smell inside.
After only a few steps, he reached the end of the cave, where there was a room.
At the entrance of the room were two corpses, looking extremely gruesome. One corpse had no flesh left on its body, while the other still had foamy bits of flesh oozing from its mouth.
Looking at the two people, their clothes were very luxurious, indicating they were nobles, perhaps even the king and queen.
Observing how they died, it seemed they had hidden in the basement to escape the sudden Zerg tide, but had no food. The king ate the queen, and then, somehow, he still died suddenly.
Han Huohuo saw the queen's foot kicked into the emperor's stomach.
He sighed.
It is only in desperation that one can truly see humanity.
The king's sword was striking, emitting terrifying red flames. Han Huohuo picked it up and discovered it was actually a divine artifact sword.
"[blade of doomsday]: Divine Artifact. Wielding this sword, the Hero can cast a fifth-tier fire magic, Doomsday Storm. Additionally, his troops are unaffected by Doomsday Storm, and the power of fire magic is increased by 100%."
It was practically a twin brother to the Ice Blade, just one was a fire-elemental Doomsday Storm, and the other an ice-elemental Blizzard.
Han Huohuo picked up the blade of doomsday, and with a thought, the blade of doomsday began to shrink, placing it into his ear along with the imperial jade seal, the Ice Blade, and the golden brick.
He could put them anywhere, but Han Huohuo preferred to keep them in his ear, entirely influenced by a cartoon he watched in his youth.
A monkey in that cartoon liked to keep his weapons in his ear, and Han Huohuo thought it was cool. Now, he finally had the chance to try it himself, and it was indeed quite amusing.
Bypassing the corpses, he stepped through the door into what was a treasure vault.
Various rare resources and dazzling jewels.
They blinded Han Huohuo's eyes. Unfortunately, despite hiding so many treasures, they didn't store a bit more food and water.
Han Huohuo didn't look at the jewels; he walked directly to a corner where an inconspicuous small wooden box was constantly emitting strong space-time signals.
He had been drawn here by the space-time power of this small wooden box.
Opening the small wooden box, a time-space shard, imbued with the essence of time, lay quietly within.
"[Congratulations, you have obtained time-space shard 5/7.]"
This was truly an unexpected surprise; to find the fifth time-space shard so easily, Han Huohuo was quite astonished.
After putting away the time-space shard, there was also a cabinet nearby, which appeared to preserve precious treasures. Opening the drawer, he found three city building orders and three hero tokens inside.
This was likely the king's hidden treasure room, filled with top-tier treasures.
Han Huohuo was overjoyed.
There were also some other good treasures inside, but none were divine artifacts. There were weapons, armor, and accessories. Han Huohuo checked them; there was nothing he could use himself, so he put them all away for his Heroes to use in the future.
