224: Conversation by the ravine

Looking around, there was nothing else.

Han Huohuo led Mu Jiu and Hua Mulan away, heading towards their next objective.

Not long after Han Huohuo and his companions left, a phantom of another container appeared in this small room; it was a gourd, continuing to collect the black oil sewage dripping from above.

It seemed this monster had an abundance of treasures.

The three of them made another large detour, walking until they reached a chasm.

The path ahead was broken.

A deep chasm lay before the three of them. On the opposite cliff, there was an exit. Looking at the chasm's width, it was only a dozen zhang, not far at all; Han Huohuo could leap across it easily.

Han Huohuo frowned; he only remembered there was a dangerous trap here, but he couldn't recall the specific details.

Not daring to take risks, Han Huohuo summoned a Mechanical Wolf and had the Mechanical Wolf jump over to investigate.

The Mechanical Wolf received the command and leaped vigorously towards the exit on the opposite cliff.

Whoosh!

A piercing shriek.

A long whip extended from the chasm, wrapped around the Mechanical Wolf, and pulled the Mechanical Wolf down with a single yank. The Mechanical Wolf had no power to resist.

The power was terrifyingly immense.

Han Huohuo rubbed his nose, spacing out at the side.

Mu Jiu leaned over: "What are you thinking about? Hurry up and figure out a way to cross."

Han Huohuo's mouth twitched: "These are just a few cellular tissues. I'm thinking about something: the ancient era was truly too terrifying. It seems we can't even defeat a single cell from that era."

After a pause, Han Huohuo asked again: "Do you know what exactly happened in this world during the ancient era? Why is it so frightening?"

Hua Mulan shook her head; she didn't know either.

Mu Jiu recalled for a moment. She was educated by the imperial family and had read many prehistoric secret records, but she hadn't studied very diligently back then, so many details were unclear.

This time, when Han Huohuo asked, she did recall some things.

"I remember a book that said a war of the gods occurred in the ancient era, shattering this world. Finally, a Seamstress came and stitched this world back together. Therefore, this world has another name, the 'Broken World.' The book said that our world is actually a world full of drafts, where all kinds of evil spirits and monsters can pass through the cracks."

Broken World?

Han Huohuo was speechless. He had been transported to a Broken World.

"What about the Seamstress?"

"It's unclear. The book didn't explain it clearly. It only said that a person suddenly appeared, calling himself the Seamstress, walking this world and mending one crack after another. Finally, it was said he died of exhaustion."

"Oh, right, I remember that in Great Sun, people built a temple for him to commemorate his great achievements. It's been too long, though; I heard his temple's incense offerings are only average now."

"Oh? Where is Great Sun located?"

"Great Sun City is a major town in the Southeast, a coastal city. His temple is on a mountain by the sea, with a huge statue that directly overlooks the ocean. I heard he came from across the sea, and when he was about to die, he missed home very much, so people built him a statue looking towards his homeland."

Homeland? Han Huohuo couldn't help but feel emotional. He didn't miss home, though. This place was great: power, beautiful women, superpowers.

Only late at night would he occasionally recall the moon of his hometown.

However, Han Huohuo still had doubts: "Seamstress, that doesn't sound like a name. Didn't he have his own name?"

"Perhaps, but no one knows. He never said. Some folk also call him the Crystal God."

"What?"

Han Huohuo almost jumped up. He was allergic to the words "crystal" and was shocked. What did cracks have to do with Crystal?

"Why is he called the Crystal God?"

"Because once, he told someone that only Crystal could truly block these cracks, but there was too little Crystal in this world, and the quality was poor, so he needed to cultivate some high-quality Crystal to fill these cracks. However, he no longer had time, so it was a great pity."

Mu Jiu looked at Han Huohuo and whispered: "Don't tell anyone else. These are imperial secrets, strictly forbidden from being spread."

Han Huohuo nodded. He suddenly realized that the truth of this world might be even more terrifying than imagined.

Crystal?

Although only a few words, they had already stirred up waves in Han Huohuo's heart.

Could it be that he himself was just a cultivated piece of Crystal?

These things shouldn't be thought about too deeply; the more he thought, the more terrifying it became.

A dilapidated world, full of cracks, needing some Crystal to fill these cracks, and then these foreign Lords descended, forced to consume their power to upgrade the Crystal.

When the foreign Lords reached Five-Rotation, the Crystal would mature and could be harvested to deal with the crack problem?

Was that it?

Damn, if this was true, it would be too evil!

Of course, this was just a guess. Han Huohuo became vigilant. He didn't want to keep upgrading only to find that the world hadn't been unified, but he himself had become material to fill the Eye of the North Sea.

He should find time to visit that temple and see who that Seamstress really was.

Hua Mulan ignored their conversation, looking down into the chasm.

Below was a sea of blood, with occasional fleshy flagella floating on the surface.

Han Huohuo composed himself. Some matters needed to be resolved slowly; there was no rush. For now, he still needed to find a way to quickly pass through this Miku Maze.

After thinking for a moment, he tried a second time. He released six Mechanical Wolves in one go, letting them all jump to the opposite bank.

As a result, at most three whips extended from below, pulling three Mechanical Wolves into the depths of the chasm, while the remaining three Mechanical Wolves jumped across normally.

Han Huohuo understood.

There were only three whips in this chasm, so he just needed to let some Mechanical Wolves jump across first.

Han Huohuo summoned a few more Mechanical Wolves, had them jump first, and then, carrying Mu Jiu and Hua Mulan on his back, he followed and jumped.

Indeed, the whips below extended again, pulling away the Mechanical Wolves, but trouble arose. For some reason, this time only two whips came out, pulling away only two Mechanical Wolves.

The third whip was late, and by then, the three people were already in the air.

So this whip targeted the group with more people, whistling as it swept towards Han Huohuo and Mu Jiu.

Holy cow!

You rotten banana!

Are you trying to trick me?

Han Huohuo, carrying Mu Jiu, pulled out his Ice Blade with one hand and cast a spell at the whip.

Freezing!

Cracking ice crystals condensed on the long whip, and the whip's striking speed significantly slowed down. Han Huohuo, anxious, pushed off the back of a Mechanical Wolf, sending the Mechanical Wolf plummeting into the Abyss, and accelerated with Mu Jiu across.

The whip violently broke free from the ice's blockade and narrowly whipped past Han Huohuo's back, missing by just one centimeter.
