209: Heroes and Overlords

The Old Emperor remained silent.

Han Xin was currently making a bet with Hua Mulan; he bet that the Old Emperor would not return to Tongtian City with Han Huohuo. Hua Mulan asked, surprised, "Why do you think that? What's the point of being a puppet emperor in Great Capital when Tongtian City is so vast?"

Han Xin laughed heartily, "General Hua probably doesn't understand the petty minds of the Great Qian people. How could that Old Emperor, so full of suspicion, trust Han Huohuo? In his heart, Han Huohuo might not even be as reliable as He Jin; they are all ambitious individuals."

Hua Mulan was speechless. After a moment of thought, she asked Han Xin again, "Then tell me, is our Lord an ambitious individual?"

Han Xin made a strange expression, "Who knows!"

This guy was incredibly cunning. He could gossip about others behind their backs, but he would never speak ill of his own Lord.

Hua Mulan sighed, "If everything you say is true, then what are we doing here? Wasting time?"

Han Xin smiled, "It's still meaningful. It can strengthen everyone's expectations. Once something truly happens to the Old Emperor, we will have a justifiable reason."

Contending for the world is not just about strength; having a justifiable reason is very important.

Han Huohuo needed a legitimate title!

For example... revenge!

Han Xin's eyes were filled with a cold light that made Hua Mulan shiver slightly. She thought to herself, 'The Lord shouldn't be like this; Han Xin is the most sinister one.'

In the place where only the father and daughter were present, the Old Emperor finally spoke. He directly refused Mu Jiu's kind offer: "You are a good child. I have been a muddle-headed ruler my entire life, never accomplishing anything. Everything I've done has been messed up. But I am the Emperor, and I do not intend to abdicate. This world belongs to the Mu family."

Mu Jiu was very anxious, "They will kill you! What good is this world then?"

The Old Emperor was very afraid of death. As soon as he heard he might die, he shivered all over, "If I die, they will be regicides, and their claim will be neither just nor proper."

Mu Jiu was furious, "They have ten thousand ways to make you disappear silently from this world. Don't you know that?"

The Old Emperor chuckled, "Although I'm foolish, I've played politics my entire life. What is there not to understand? That would still be regicide, known to heaven and earth!"

Mu Jiu's tears couldn't help but flow.

This silly girl was genuinely expressing her feelings.

The Old Emperor sighed, after he fell into trouble, all his imperial sons and daughters ran away, distancing themselves from him, and even waiting for him to die so they could raise a banner and contend for legitimacy.

Only this daughter truly wanted to take him out of his misery.

How could he have raised such a naive and innocent daughter, terrifyingly simple, not at all like someone from the imperial family.

They say there is no family affection in the imperial family, but how could it be so absolute?

The Old Emperor's heart warmed. He tremblingly pulled out a jade pendant from his bosom and carefully placed it in Mu Jiu's hand. He whispered into Mu Jiu's ear, "This is the imperial jade pendant. On the tenth day of each month, at the first quarter of the hour of Zi (midnight), facing the moonlight, you will see a different sight. Although our family doesn't have the imperial seal, we still have the jade pendant. Your father will leave it to you."

The Old Emperor thought for a moment, then added, "Our son-in-law is very powerful. If one day he wants the world of Great Qian, he can just take it. I won't blame him. You can also tell him about the jade pendant and use his power to obtain what is hidden within it. Live well!"

Although Mu Jiu didn't understand, the Old Emperor certainly did. He knew that Han Huohuo was ambitious, and asking Mu Jiu to bring him back to Tongtian City might not necessarily be with good intentions; perhaps it was a hundred times more malicious than He Jin.

But he didn't say it aloud.

It was good for his daughter to remain simple. This young Barbarian King seemed genuinely good to his daughter.

That was enough.

For a man, a little ambition is not a flaw.

The Old Emperor thought.

Mu Jiu was already in tears.

When Han Huohuo received the news, the one who reacted most exaggeratedly was surprisingly Han Xin: "Such a good bargaining chip, just abandoned like that? Lord, please reconsider!"

Hua Mulan looked at Han Xin with disdain. How could this guy be so hypocritical?

The Old Emperor, for once, showed courage. He actually decided to return with He Jin, and Han Huohuo ultimately did not stop him.

In front of the two armies.

He Jin and the Old Emperor were riding their horses, about to return.

Han Huohuo suddenly called out to stop them, shouting loudly, "Chancellor He, I have one more word to advise you!"

He Jin shivered, reining in his horse and turning to look at Han Huohuo.

In front of He Jin, Han Huohuo suddenly drew a precious sword. This sword was originally He Jin's sidearm, confiscated after he was captured, and now in Han Huohuo's hand.

He raised He Jin's precious sword with one hand, then with force, he directly crushed the sword. He Jin trembled with fear. This young Barbarian King was truly like a devil. He Jin, of course, knew how hard the sword's material was, yet Han Huohuo easily crushed it with his hand.

"Chancellor He, I have no intention of interfering with the internal affairs of your Great Qian nation, but the Old Emperor is my father-in-law. If you disrespect him, or even abuse him, it will be an insult to me. I swear on my personal honor that if you truly disrespect the Old Emperor, even if you hide at the ends of the earth, you will surely die. You had best believe the oath of the contemporary Barbarian King."

The iron sand, crushed into powder, drifted from Han Huohuo's hand.

"I wouldn't dare!"

He Jin's face turned ashen, truly scared. He quickly spurred his horse and left with the Old Emperor. Even facing the elite soldiers of Great Capital, he felt a chill down his spine.

"Go!"

He Jin dared not linger at all. This time he had lost immense face. The hundred Lords had not even arrived, yet he had almost died at the hands of the Barbarian King.

The large contingent left Wei City and returned to Great Capital.

Mu Jiu was in low spirits, so Han Huohuo had to go and cheer her up.

The group returned to the ship, preparing to go back to Tongtian City. The area near Great Capital was extremely oppressive, and Han Huohuo didn't want to stay there for another day.

Going against the current, Han Huohuo accompanied Mu Jiu, standing together at the bow of the ship, facing the sunset, creating a rather Titanic-like scene.

Han Huohuo was hugging Mu Jiu's slender waist from behind, sweet-talking her to cheer her up.

"Thank you!"

"Thank me for what? Nothing was accomplished. It's already good that you don't blame me."

Mu Jiu turned her head and stared into Han Huohuo's eyes: "I thought all great figures were ruthless and didn't care about these family affections."

Han Huohuo pouted: "That's nonsense, just fantasies from the bottom of society, and some scoundrels full of bad ideas taking things for granted. I am powerful. I can like whoever I want. If anyone dares to make me disregard emotions, I'll send them straight to the King of Hell."

To love when one wants to love, to hate when one wants to hate, that is life. Han Huohuo's domineering aura was evident; he clearly didn't care about those strange ideas in the slightest.

If one cannot indulge their feelings and remain true to themselves, what kind of Hero of the world can they be?

The word 'Hero' has no damn weight!

Han Huohuo is Han Huohuo, and Han Xin is Han Xin.

Therefore, Han Huohuo is a Hegemon, but Han Xin is not.

For some reason, Mu Jiu gently leaned into Han Huohuo's embrace. She had been so tired these past few days that she actually fell asleep in Han Huohuo's arms amidst the sunset. It seemed as if even if the sky fell, there was still a man to block it for her, so what could she possibly fear?
