75: Horror Town

Screech!
The sound of fire burning could be heard, and an oil lamp suddenly lit up inside the black box.
As the dim oil lamp lit up, a hazy yellow light appeared, and Han Huohuo finally saw his surroundings clearly.
This really was a small wooden hut!
The room looked very old, with many parts of the floor damaged.
The surrounding walls were made of logs, and it seemed they had been painted once, but the paint had already turned yellow and peeled off.
The decay was quite severe, a mottled look of time and vicissitudes.
There were no windows, but the door was still there, with a doorknob on it.
If he opened the door, could he return to the original world?
Han Huohuo placed his hand on the doorknob, hesitated for a moment, and did not open the door. He was waiting, waiting for twenty-four hours to pass.
Let's wait a bit. First, to regain stamina, who knows what's outside. Second, he considered another possibility: if more than twenty-four hours passed, maybe he could complete the task?
He speculated, and then waited for the time to pass slowly.
His stamina recovered.
The time displayed in the system showed that twenty-four hours had passed, but he did not receive a notification that the task was completed.
So he turned the doorknob and pushed the door open.
Creak!
A gust of wind blew in, carrying up some dust and wood chips, which rushed towards him and almost blinded Han Huohuo.
Han Huohuo rubbed his eyes and stared dumbfounded at the scene outside the door.
This, of course, was not in the sky. The door of the small wooden hut faced an ancient street. The street was very empty, with no sign of people.
Han Huohuo walked out of the small wooden hut and onto the street.
Both sides of the street were lined with old-style houses, with blue bricks and white tiles, and a large amount of wooden structure, just like an ancient town.
Stone hitching posts, faded wooden chairs, old wooden fences, and there was even an empty carriage on the street, but no horses.
Traces of time and vicissitudes were everywhere.
If you added a few knights and beauties here, it would be a perfect scene for filming an ancient martial arts movie.
Han Huohuo hesitated for a moment, then slowly took a step forward. Suddenly, he felt a moment of disorientation, and the entire world seemed to twist slightly.
Damn it!
Are you trying to scare me?
In such a quiet town, could there be any danger?
Where did I end up? I was doing a job change task, how did I get to such a godforsaken place.
He checked the system.
The system actually showed his location, but the name was difficult for him to understand.
[The Gap]
After looking for a long time, Han Huohuo still didn't understand. What did 'The Gap' mean?
Could this town be called The Gap?
There was only a name in the system, with no explanation.
"Thump!"
Heavy footsteps came from behind him. Han Huohuo tensed up and spun around.
Behind him, a monster was walking lightly, or so it seemed from its movements, but in reality, each step it took was very heavy.
It was a four-legged monster, its entire body rotten, so much so that you couldn't tell if it was a dog or a wolf. More than half of its body had decayed, exposing the black and yellow bones inside. Most of the flesh on its head had also fallen off, exposing its gums, yet it was still breathing, panting heavily as it looked at Han Huohuo.
Just like......
...those bio-dogs from Resident Evil.
Han Huohuo momentarily wondered if he had walked onto the wrong movie set. What the hell was this?
Bio-dog, let's call it that for now. God knows what it really is.
Stepping on the ground, this vicious dog suddenly pounced.
Han Huohuo dodged with a flash, gripping an Earth Spear tightly in his hand, and thrust it forward fiercely.
The Earth Spear was a yellow beam gun. It instantly pierced through the bio-dog's body, causing a violent explosion, and the bio-dog was blown into countless fragments.
Broken bones and rotten flesh were everywhere.
The sound of the explosion echoed back and forth in the town, seemingly waking up some sleeping monster. A very low roar came from afar, filling Han Huohuo's heart with extreme fear.
It was like the roar of a primeval beast. The sound alone made Han Huohuo feel a sense of dread that he could not possibly resist.
At the end of the street, an even more terrifying monster stood up.
Its massive body shook the ground as it walked. Its obese body looked extremely terrifying.
Its low roar awakened countless bio-dogs in the town.
Countless black figures woke up throughout the town. They were all awakened bio-dogs. Their exposed gums, blood-red eyes, and low growls from their mouths were echoing the monster.
"I am the hunter, you are the prey, and these are my hounds!"
Holy crap, that fat guy who looked like a giant Zombie could actually speak human language, but he only repeated these few sentences and couldn't say anything else.
What was there to think about?
Run!
Han Huohuo took off running, not forgetting to cast a Swift Travel spell on himself.
Unfortunately, Swift Travel was Air Magic, and his Swift Travel spell had a poor effect, not increasing his speed much.
The Zombie hunter, with its large pack of bio-hounds, began the game of pursuit.
Han Huohuo no longer had the energy to complain.
Damn it, I came here to advance, not to fight Resident Evil. This is too screwed up.
Just as he was thinking wildly, a carriage flew over from the sky. Han Huohuo tilted his head, and the carriage flew over his head and smashed the house next to him.
What great strength!
It was thrown by that Zombie hunter.
Originally, Han Huohuo was still hesitating whether to fight that big guy, but seeing the carriage fly over like that, he immediately gave up the idea. He couldn't beat it, definitely couldn't beat it.
He pushed off with both legs and ran even faster!
The secret to fighting is actually just two things: if you can win, fight; if you can't, run. It's not that complicated.
So Han Huohuo ran faster than a rabbit!
A vicious dog suddenly darted out from the street corner, unknown viscous fluid dripping from its mouth, its blood-red eyes looking over. How disgusting!
Without hesitation, Han Huohuo shot an Earth Spear at it. With a bang, a wail sounded, and the vicious dog was blown to smithereens.
His steps did not stop, he kept running forward in the streets and alleys.
The terrifying hunter behind him was like a tank, completely unreasonable, just chasing straight after him. All the houses were smashed by him, unable to stop him in the slightest.
Night fell.
A series of mournful howls sounded. Bio-dogs were running everywhere in the streets, surrounding and intercepting him. Poor Han Huohuo ran with all his might towards the outside of the town.
Fortunately, this town wasn't big.
Half an hour later, Han Huohuo had escaped the town, but the monsters behind him had no intention of letting him go and were still chasing him relentlessly.
A whistling sound.
Han Huohuo immediately rolled on the ground, rolling to the side, and saw a huge wine barrel thrown from the sky, which smashed onto the ground and shattered with a crash.
That was exactly where Han Huohuo had been standing just moments before.
Damn it?
He turned his head and saw that the monster hunter had picked up another wine barrel and was throwing it at him again.
This bastard!
Han Huohuo didn't look back and continued to run forward, but the wine barrels kept smashing down behind him. He had no idea where these barrels were coming from, making him extremely flustered.
Leaving the town, there was a dark wilderness ahead.
It was all sandy ground, and he didn't know where it led.
No matter where it went, the further away from that monster, the better.
He didn't know how long he had been running, but Han Huohuo was panting with exhaustion and really couldn't keep going.
A silhouette appeared ahead.
Another small town appeared before him.
The chase behind him was too close, so Han Huohuo had no choice but to rush into this town. Then he saw wine barrels, and saw a broken carriage hanging on a collapsed house.
There were some scattered bones of bio-dogs that had been blown apart on the ground.
Damn it!
Everything was so familiar.
Did I run back here again?
How is that possible? I've been running straight forward the whole time, haven't I?
Could it be!
Is this a ghost wall?
With a low growl, something in the town woke up, and another monster hunter stood up from within the town.
Han Huohuo was dumbfounded.
He turned his head and saw that the monster hunter who had been chasing him was still there!
How could this be so messed up?
If he ran a few more laps, would the monster hunters just keep increasing?
He couldn't run anymore.
