138: Chapter 138 Thunder, Scary, Hold On Tighter
Jiang Che, who was pretending to be oblivious, had very honest eyes. After his gaze drifted toward a certain place unconsciously, he sensed the shy, murderous aura from Stinky Girl and immediately pulled it back.
"Ahem, how would I know? I don't even know how big she is."
Jiang Ning's face was flushed with a deep crimson. "Who told you to... you could just look."
"I haven't looked." Jiang Che put on a righteous face.
"Then what about me?"
"What about you?"
"Just now, what I asked about."
Jiang Che wanted to continue playing dumb, but... Stinky Girl's, he hadn't just looked, he had even touched them... He couldn't pretend at all.
"This is just fine."
Jiang Ning predictably frowned. "Fine? What do you mean by fine... Ouch!?"
Before she could finish, Jiang Che tapped her on the head with his finger.
"You Stinky Girl, you really don't think of yourself as a girl, do you? Discussing this with me?" Jiang Che said with a helpless yet righteous expression. "Hurry back to your room and go to sleep!"
Jiang Ning pouted and glared at Jiang Che, then reluctantly walked back to her room. Before closing the door, she didn't forget to make a face at him and huffed, "I'm going, I'm going! You pest!"
Having said that, afraid that Jiang Che would lecture her again, Jiang Ning quickly closed the door and locked it.
Jiang Che couldn't help but laugh and cry at the same time, but shortly after, he couldn't resist raising his hand to look at his palm.
He had had two intimate encounters with Jiang Ning's... chest. One was that morning when he woke up and found his palm in a certain position, and the other was last time when he was roughhousing with Stinky Girl, got carried away, and kissed her, and then...
Stinky Girl was indeed smaller than An Ran, but that was because An Ran was a few years older than her and naturally... more mature.
Compared to other girls her age, Jiang Ning was not small at all; she was completely normal.
After returning to his room, Jiang Che locked the door too, but thinking about how Stinky Girl had inexplicably appeared by his bed last time and later admitted to taking the room key, he felt it was a futile gesture and unlocked it.
He took a comfortable hot shower and opened the bathroom door. Thankfully, Stinky Girl was not on his bed.
Ever since he had gotten carried away and made a move two days ago, Jiang Ning had actually become more reserved, and she blushed easily whenever she saw him.
At home, she would still bicker with him and be willful, but Jiang Che could feel that this girl had changed. She was completely different from before—it was clearly... a girl using bickering to hide her shyness after being embarrassed.
It was also... when Stinky Girl had kissed him earlier, it was an impulsive act done in a rush after being provoked by his words.
No matter how bold she was, she was still just an eighteen-year-old girl. Feeling shy and embarrassed after being kissed by a boy was the normal reaction.
After lying down, Jiang Che remembered he hadn't had any news from Su Su all day, so he sent her a greeting.
As expected, a long time passed without a response.
Jiang Che scrolled through his social media feed for a while, looking at what had happened around him today. After a full half-hour, sleepiness finally began to wash over him.
Just as Jiang Che was about to put down his phone, he suddenly saw a flash of light outside the curtains, and less than a second later, a thunderclap rang out.
A rainstorm coming?
Just after Jiang Che muttered that, a frantic sound of a door opening came from outside, followed by Stinky Girl's voice, slightly laced with fear.
"Jiang Che! Jiang Che, open the door!"
Realizing something, Jiang Che quickly sat up and walked over to open the door.
Stinky Girl was wearing her pajamas, hugging her pillow. She ran in with a panicked expression, then, without a word, climbed onto the bed and burrowed into the quilt.
Jiang Che was speechless, looking out the door. The girl hadn't even had time to turn off the light in her own room.
Stinky Girl had been afraid of thunder since she was little, and even now that she was grown, she still was.
Jiang Che helped her turn off the lights before returning to his room and closing the door.
Stinky Girl was hiding under the quilt, with only the top half of her head, from her nose up, visible.
Seeing Jiang Che staring at her, Stinky Girl immediately blushed.
"What are you looking at? Haven't you ever seen a girl afraid of thunder?"
Jiang Che said, "I've seen girls afraid of thunder, but one who's already an adult and still afraid? That's definitely a first."
Jiang Ning blushed at Jiang Che's words, but she couldn't find an excuse to retort. She was staying under his roof, it looked like a rainstorm was about to start outside, and there would be thunder. In the end, she could only huff softly, "Laugh if you want, I'm just afraid, that's all."
Sure enough, as soon as she finished speaking, there was another thunderclap outside.
Stinky Girl grabbed the quilt with both hands, and instinctively covered her head with it as the light flashed, shrinking back inside.
Watching Jiang Ning's behavior, Jiang Che suddenly remembered when they were little. Whenever it was a thunderstorm, Jiang Ning would hide in his mother's arms, and his mother would cover her ears while softly coaxing her.
A long time ago, when he was a child, Jiang Che once heard his parents mention that Jiang Ning had been separated from her biological parents on a stormy, thundery day.
His parents said Jiang Ning had been afraid of thunder since she was little; they didn't know if it was related to that.
In the past, Jiang Che had doubted the truth of it, thinking she might just be naturally timid. But as Jiang Ning grew up, this hadn't changed at all, and Jiang Che increasingly felt that it must be psychological trauma left by childhood memories.
Thinking of this, Jiang Che, who had previously been intentionally avoiding intimate contact with Jiang Ning, walked forward.
Jiang Che sat on the edge of the bed and reached out to gently pat the quilt.
Stinky Girl lifted a corner of the quilt and looked at Jiang Che from inside, her expression looking pitiful.
Jiang Che shook his head, then reached out and, just like he had seen his mother do to cover Jiang Ning's ears, he covered them.
Jiang Ning was slightly stunned.
This was the first time Jiang Che had done something like this to her.
A flash of light streaked by, followed immediately by another thunderclap. This time, outside, the wind howled, and the sound of a rainstorm followed.
When Jiang Che lowered his head, he realized that with that last clap of thunder, Stinky Girl had already curled up right next to him.
"Get into the quilt," Jiang Ning whispered.
"Sitting like this is fine," Jiang Che said.
Stinky Girl was silent for two seconds before saying in a small voice, "I'm scared."
Jiang Che's heart softened, and he climbed in.
As soon as he covered himself with the quilt, the next second, Jiang Ning's soft, fragrant body leaned in and burrowed into his arms, and she hugged his waist tightly.
At first, Jiang Che thought the girl was doing it on purpose, but when he saw that after hugging him, she still didn't dare to fully poke her head out, he gave a wry smile.
He slowly raised his hand and gently patted Jiang Ning's back under the quilt.
"It's okay, it's just thunder."
Because of Jiang Che's gentle actions, the anxiety Jiang Ning felt from the thunder had eased a lot. However, not knowing when another thunderclap would come, Jiang Ning still didn't dare to let go.
"Hold me."
Hearing Stinky Girl's request, Jiang Che hesitated.
"Hurry," Jiang Ning chided softly.
Oh well, anyway... they had already kissed and touched; holding her wasn't a big deal.
Thinking of this, Jiang Che reached out and, just like he had after being intimate with An Ran, held Jiang Ning.
"Hold me tighter."
Jiang Ning said pitifully, like a frightened little deer.
After two seconds of silence, Jiang Che simply turned slightly and used both arms to hold Jiang Ning tightly against his chest.
"Like this?"
Feeling completely safe, Stinky Girl only then remembered to blush. Listening to Jiang Che's slightly unusual heartbeat, Jiang Ning's cheeks felt warm, and she responded softly, "Mm..."
