39: Chapter 39 Why are you so hot?

"Pa!"

A crisp sound, neither too hard nor too soft.

"You!" Jiang Ning turned around with a face full of shy annoyance, glaring at Jiang Che with puffed-up cheeks.

"Are you getting up or not?"

"Not getting up! If I get up, wouldn't that slap just now have been for nothing?"

Seeing this girl speaking so confidently, and the key point was, upon closer thought, it actually seemed to make some sense?

Seeing that the Stinky Girl was determined to stay in bed, Jiang Che felt a bit helpless and lightly patted the quilt.

This light movement gave Jiang Ning a start; she quickly scrambled up, looking at him with wary eyes.

"You already hit me once just now!"

"Who hit you? Move over a bit. You can't hog my bed and push me off, right?"

Jiang Ning was stunned for a moment, then realized that Jiang Che wasn't trying to kick her out.

Jiang Ning blushed slightly, then scooted toward the inside of the bed.

"Do you need to charge your phone?" Jiang Che suddenly asked.

Jiang Ning was confused and shook her head.

"Do you need to drink water or go to the bathroom?"

Jiang Ning widened her eyes slightly as she looked at him, then shook her head again.

Seeing this, Jiang Che nodded, then turned around and turned off the room lights.

Only then did Jiang Ning realize what his questions meant earlier; it turned out he was worried that after she lay down, she would end up needing to get a charger or would get thirsty.

"How are you so experienced?" Jiang Ning suddenly asked curiously.

"Experienced in what?"

"Knowing about all the habits girls have before sleeping."

"Haven't you ever seen a pig run, even if you haven't eaten pork?" Jiang Che said softly, raising his hands to pillow his head.

"Oh..." Jiang Ning let out an 'oh', then suddenly said angrily, "You're the pig."

"Shut up, or I'll hit you."

Sure enough, after he said that, Jiang Ning behaved.

Jiang Che lay on the bed, beside him was the Stinky Girl he had called 'little sister' for over ten years. He looked at the pitch-black ceiling, feeling a strange sensation.

Soon, he closed his eyes and began to brew sleepiness, but after a long while, he was still wide awake.

The room was quiet for a full five minutes before Jiang Ning's faint voice came from beside him again.

"Going to sleep so early?"

"What do you want to do if not sleep?" Jiang Che said slowly.

It was originally an ordinary sentence, but the Stinky Girl didn't know where her thoughts had wandered. If Jiang Che had turned on the light at this moment, he would have seen that the girl's face was bright red.

"Then why aren't you sleeping yet?"

"Because I can't fall asleep."

"I can't sleep either, I... I think I'm not used to this bed."

"Then go to the next room."

"No way!" Jiang Ning said coquettishly. "The bed is damp, I'll get sick."

"Hmm." Jiang Che replied indifferently.

The two fell into silence again, but after just ten short seconds, Jiang Che's eyes suddenly snapped open.

"What are you doing?!"

"I, my feet are a little cold..."

Jiang Che had black lines on his forehead, "Are you trying to trick a ghost? Your feet are burning like this, and you're telling me they're cold?"

Jiang Ning was slightly bewildered, "My feet... are they very hot?"

"Touch them yourself."

Jiang Ning gave an 'oh', then fumbled around under the quilt.

"I don't feel anything..."

Jiang Ning's words made Jiang Che pause, then he couldn't help but turn over, reach out, and press his hand against Jiang Ning's forehead.

The next second, Jiang Che sat up abruptly.

Jiang Ning was startled, "What are you doing?"

Jiang Che quickly turned on the lights, took one look, and then froze.

This girl's face was bright red, and not only her feet, but her forehead was also scorching hot.

"Are you sick?"

"No..."

"You still say no, why is your body so hot?"

Hearing Jiang Che's question, Jiang Ning, who had been panicked and shy since getting into bed, lowered her head slightly, not knowing how to explain.

"I'll get you some medicine."

"I, I'm not sick!"

"Even fools say they aren't fools." Jiang Che said as he prepared to get out of bed to find fever medicine.

"I'm really fine!" Jiang Ning grabbed Jiang Che's arm, her eyes darting away as she said, "I, I'm just, the quilt is a bit thick, I'm hot."

"Look, you're burning up so much you're confused; didn't you just say your feet were cold?"

"..."

Seeing that Jiang Che was really about to get out of bed, Jiang Ning, who had been most afraid of taking medicine since she was a child, quickly scrambled out of bed ahead of him, "I'll just take a shower and it'll be fine!"

Soon, Jiang Ning went into the bathroom.

Listening to the sound of water coming from inside, Jiang Che on the bed was a bit dazed; this girl was strange.

In the bathroom, Jiang Ning was not under the showerhead; she stood in front of the mirror, looking at her shy, red face in the mirror, raised her hand, and gently pressed it against her cheek—sure enough, it was scorching hot.

"Hmph... I finally managed to get into his room, isn't it just lying together? Why are you so shy?"

Standing in front of the mirror and psyching herself up for a long time, finally, to play the role completely, she took another shower.

After a long while, Jiang Ning finally returned to the room.

"All better." Jiang Ning explained with a guilty conscience.

Seeing Jiang Che's face full of disbelief, she slowly walked to the bedside, then leaned her forehead against him.

Jiang Che tested it, and sure enough, it was obviously not as hot as before.

"That's it? You didn't take a cold shower, did you?"

Jiang Ning's eyes flashed with panic. After she finished showering earlier, she tested it herself and her face was still a bit hot, so she really did splash cold water on her face.

"Ho, how is that possible?"

Seeing the girl so insistent, Jiang Che didn't press the issue, "If you don't feel well, remember to say so."

"I know~" Jiang Ning said coquettishly, "I'm not a child anymore."

Soon, Jiang Ning returned to the bed again. After Jiang Che turned off the lights, he really had no sleepiness, so he picked up his phone.

After opening it, he saw that the Suxing Entertainment account had sent him a message, which was a photo of a street in Nansu City.

This Chen Xuan, out shopping, looks like she's in a pretty good mood?

Jiang Che wasn't exactly close with Chen Xuan, but since she sent a picture, out of politeness, he replied with an emoji: a thumbs up.

Two minutes later, the other party replied with a question mark, followed by: "That's it?"

For the overly familiar Chen Xuan, Jiang Che was a bit helpless, so he had to add another sentence: "Miss Chen's photography skills are superb."

Just as Jiang Che closed the chat box, he inadvertently turned his head. Beside him, a pair of beautiful eyes, reflected in the light of the phone, were dark and bright.

"Damn! When did you lean over?!"

"Who is Miss Chen?"

The two spoke almost simultaneously.

Jiang Che didn't speak again, just stared straight at her.

Jiang Ning felt slightly guilty, "I... I wasn't peeking, my neck was uncomfortable, and when I turned my head, your phone was right in my face."

What a unique excuse... Jiang Che was speechless.

"So, who is Miss Chen?"

"Su Su's assistant."

"Is she pretty?"

Jiang Che looked at her strangely; why was this girl so interested in Chen Xuan?

"She has a decent temperament." Thinking about Chen Xuan's appearance, Jiang Che said tactfully.

"Oh..." Jiang Ning let out an 'oh', then muttered quietly: "So that means she's not a beauty then."
