55: Chapter 55 Can't sleep? What about you?

A faint flush appeared on An Ran's cheeks. She stared straight at Jiang Che, and after two seconds, she said softly, "Why wouldn't I dare?"

Jiang Che looked at her, somewhat surprised. Then, he gave a thumbs up, "Fine, you're tough. If you aren't locking the door, I will. Happy now?"

With that, Jiang Che waved his hand and returned to his room first.

Then, it wasn't enough that he closed the door; he actually made a "click" sound and locked it from the inside.

Outside the door, An Ran, looking stunned, finally reacted. After two seconds, feeling both shy and annoyed, she walked up to the door and gave it a kick.

"Asshole!"

Listening to An Ran's curse from outside, Jiang Che didn't mind. However, after lying down on the bed, he felt a bit puzzled.

An Ran was… a bit unusual today.

When he first started the job, An Ran was the first person he had contact with. She was professional and rational. However, after spending time together, he realized that An Ran was actually cold on the outside but warm on the inside; she wasn't as difficult to get along with as she appeared.

That was why Yang Fei, such a playboy who didn't just tease with his mouth but also tried to take liberties physically, was incredibly well-behaved in front of An Ran.

Next door, An Ran walked into Jiang Ning's room. Sure enough, compared to the last time she visited, there was more of a lived-in feel, along with traces of a girl's daily life.

"New toiletries under the bathroom cabinet. Pajamas are in the left wardrobe."

The corners of An Ran's mouth curled up slightly. This guy could be annoying at times, but he was quite thoughtful when it came to important matters.

Just as she felt a slight stirring in her heart, Jiang Che sent another message: "Do you want me to warm the bed? It'll cost extra!"

Seeing this, An Ran immediately replied with a "Get lost!"

In the next room, Jiang Che put down his phone and laughed.

Half an hour later, the sound of An Ran coming out of the bathroom finally came from outside.

Out of politeness, Jiang Che waited another ten minutes or so before picking up his clothes, ready to take a shower.

As soon as he stepped out, he almost bumped into An Ran, who was also coming out. She was wearing that girl Jiang Ning's pajamas, and she looked… quite something.

"It actually looks pretty good on you," Jiang Che said with a smile.

An Ran's cheeks flushed slightly, and she didn't respond.

But soon, this guy continued, "I meant my sister's clothes, what are you blushing for… ah!"

As expected, An Ran stepped on Jiang Che's foot.

"I stepped on it by accident," An Ran said with a calm expression.

Jiang Che shook his head. Beautiful women were too vengeful.

After walking into the bathroom, the scent of body wash filled the air, mixed with… some other faint fragrance.

It smelled very good and was quite intoxicating.

After bantering away the distracting thoughts in his mind, Jiang Che turned on the shower and began to wash peacefully.

Nearby, in Jiang Ning's room, An Ran listened to the faint sound of water outside, her cheeks feeling a bit hot.

Coming to Jiang Che's house and staying over was an impromptu decision.

She didn't know why, but today at the clothing store, seeing Jiang Che picking out clothes for a young, pretty girl made her feel inexplicably jealous.

Did she… like him?

An Ran hadn't realized it and was a bit skeptical, but her current reactions seemed to prove that this was the truth.

Usually, she just liked chatting with him and discussing work, occasionally getting annoyed enough to hit him a couple of times, but once a third person entered the picture, she realized that she seemed to have gotten used to Jiang Che being alone.

An Ran's mind wandered for a long time. Just as she was about to lie down and stop herself from overthinking, Jiang Che came out of the bathroom.

However, strangely, he didn't return to his room, and soon, the sound of the television came from outside.

Although she told herself that staying over was already a bit inappropriate and she shouldn't go out again, her curiosity still made her put on her slippers and then open the bedroom door.

On the sofa, Jiang Che, wearing pajamas, turned his head and looked at her with some surprise.

"You're not asleep yet?"

An Ran's face flushed slightly, "I can't sleep, how about you?"

"Watching some TV."

After he finished speaking, the atmosphere between them became very strange. After a few seconds of silence, An Ran pretended to be relaxed and walked over, "How about we find a movie to watch?"

Jiang Che didn't refuse after listening, then handed her the remote control, "You choose?"

"You choose is fine." An Ran walked to the side of the sofa and sat down.

The suite wasn't big to begin with, and the sofa was smaller than a normal one, just enough for two people. So after An Ran sat down, the distance between them instantly became very close.

Both of them noticed this issue. An Ran's ears turned slightly red, and Jiang Che… was somewhat distracted.

Because he smelled the fragrance on An Ran.

Jiang Che casually pressed the remote control, choosing for a full three minutes before finding a movie that leaned towards comedy.

"This one?"

"Yeah." An Ran nodded.

Jiang Che started the movie, then got up and turned off the living room lights.

Now, only the faint light from the television remained. Jiang Che and An Ran exchanged a glance, and the atmosphere suddenly became a bit subtle.

Jiang Che tried his best to focus his attention on the movie, and so did An Ran.

After more than ten minutes, they finally got into the plot.

However, half an hour later, just as sleepiness began to hit Jiang Che, suddenly, there was a soft sound from the side.

He turned his head and saw that An Ran had fallen asleep at some point, leaning on his shoulder.

Looking at her exquisite side profile and slightly trembling eyelashes, Jiang Che felt completely overwhelmed.

"What do I do now?"
