53: Chapter 53 I'm thirsty, let me come to your house for a drink of water.

As soon as An Ran's question came out, not only Jiang Che, but even Tang Xinwei was stunned.

"No, don't misunderstand, she... is my sister's roommate." Jiang Che thought quickly in his mind, then explained truthfully.

"Sister's... roommate?" An Ran frowned slightly, evidently finding it hard to reconcile these two relationships right now. "Where is your sister?"

"At school."

"Your sister is at school, and yet, you brought her roommate out?"

An Ran had no malicious intent, but... in her eyes, there was pure curiosity, and a hint of... an unusual expression.

Tang Xinwei was a bit dazed. Firstly, she didn't know what relationship this good-looking, well-proportioned, and beautiful older sister had with Jiang Che, and secondly, she was afraid of causing trouble for Jiang Che, so she didn't dare speak randomly.

"I didn't bring her out. I just got off work, met her on the way, and suggested we grab a meal together. She's going back after buying some clothes. Are you here to buy clothes too?"

An Ran looked at the two of them, then nodded.

Seeing Tang Xinwei becoming a bit reserved on the side, Jiang Che smiled and said, "This is my colleague, An Ran. Jiang Ning has had meals with her too."

Then he looked at An Ran: "My sister's roommate, Tang Xinwei."

The two women greeted each other, then An Ran said softly, "Very pretty, and the name sounds very nice too."

Tang Xinwei was a little embarrassed, "Sister is the one who is very good-looking."

Seeing them both standing there, Jiang Che couldn't help but laugh and say, "Are you done complimenting each other? If you're done, go ahead and buy your clothes."

Seeing him cracking jokes, An Ran gave him a light glare.

Tang Xinwei decided on the second outfit Jiang Che had helped pick out, while An Ran said, "As it happens, could you help me pick one out too?"

Jiang Che nodded, but Tang Xinwei felt a little strange and glanced at An Ran.

What she said was 'help me pick one out', not 'help me take a look' or 'help me refer to it'.

Tang Xinwei's girl's intuition made her feel that the beautiful older sister in front of her seemed to be intentionally expressing something.

In the end, under Jiang Che's recommendation, An Ran also picked out an outfit, and she looked quite satisfied.

"As expected of someone who sees beautiful girls often, your taste is indeed good." An Ran looked at him and said with a smile.

Jiang Che was a bit helpless. He glanced at Tang Xinwei, who was curiously watching him and her, and wondered, why did it feel like An Ran had a hidden meaning?

"Did you drive?" Jiang Che asked.

"Yes."

"Perfect, take us together."

"To your place?"

"What 'my place'? First, take Weiwei to school. I can just walk back from school."

An Ran nodded, then whispered softly, "Tang Xinwei... Weiwei."

Finally, after leaving the store, the two followed An Ran to the parking lot. When getting in the car, An Ran let Tang Xinwei sit in the passenger seat.

"Weiwei is also a freshman, right? Where are you from?"

"I'm from Yangcheng."

"That's quite close. Only child?"

"Yes."

"After graduation, have you considered whether to stay in Nansu? Or go home?"

Tang Xinwei shook her head gently, "I haven't thought about it yet."

An Ran smiled, "I asked the wrong thing. You're only a freshman, university life has just begun. Think about the future later. For now, study hard, and then, by the way, fall in love and enjoy the most beautiful time of your life."

Hearing An Ran's words, Tang Xinwei blushed slightly and smiled.

Seeing her and Tang Xinwei chatting enthusiastically, Jiang Che couldn't help but interject:

"You're still single yourself, yet you're nagging others?"

One sentence made An Ran embarrassed and angry. She glared at Jiang Che through the rearview mirror, "You just love to touch on sensitive topics, don't talk!"

Hearing Jiang Che's words, Tang Xinwei was a bit surprised. After hesitating for two seconds, she looked at An Ran and said, "Sister An Ran, you are so pretty, are you not dating anyone yet?"

Being asked this by a girl younger than herself, An Ran was still a bit awkward, but out of politeness, she replied, "Yes."

"There should be a lot of people chasing you, right?"

One sentence hit An Ran's sore spot, and Jiang Che in the back seat couldn't help but laugh out loud.

An Ran was embarrassed and annoyed, finally gritting her teeth and saying, "There are no people chasing me! But there is one person in the office who is a hooligan all day long!"

"A hooligan?" Tang Xinwei immediately frowned, "How can there be such people?"

"Yes, not only is there one, but he is right behind you." An Ran said angrily.

As soon as these words came out, both Jiang Che and Tang Xinwei were stunned.

"Him?"

"Me?"

Jiang Che was afraid that Tang Xinwei would say something in front of that Stinky Girl, Jiang Ning, so he hurriedly said, "How am I a hooligan? Don't slander me."

An Ran inexplicably blushed, then said accusingly, "Always wanting to look at legs, look at waists, if that's not a hooligan, what is?"

"..."

One sentence left Jiang Che speechless, after all... what she said wasn't fabricated out of thin air.

After several seconds of awkwardness, Jiang Che looked at Tang Xinwei: "Your Sister An Ran is joking. We are all colleagues in the same department; even a rabbit doesn't eat the grass around its nest."

Hearing this, Tang Xinwei nodded skeptically.

And An Ran, seemingly out of consideration for Jiang Che's face, didn't speak again.

After a while, the car stopped at the gate of Nansu University. After Tang Xinwei got out of the car, Jiang Che also got out.

"Get back in." An Ran looked at Jiang Che and said.

"Hm?"

"It'll take a while to walk back, I'll give you a ride since it's on my way."

Seeing that she seemed to have something else to discuss with him, Jiang Che said goodbye to Tang Xinwei and got back into the passenger seat.

Tang Xinwei thanked both of them, said goodbye, and walked toward the school gate.

"Do you want to follow her?" An Ran said softly, seeing Jiang Che looking at Tang Xinwei's back.

Jiang Che turned his head back, laughing helplessly, "I'm not a pervert, stalking people."

An Ran drove the car, continuing toward Jiang Che's home. After a moment of silence, she said again, "I couldn't tell, you and your sister's roommate have quite a good relationship."

Jiang Che didn't think too much about it, just said casually, "It's alright."

An Ran nodded gently, then said intentionally or unintentionally, "This girl is quite pretty."

"Hm?"

"I said, this girl named Weiwei is quite good-looking."

Hearing her say this, Jiang Che nodded at first, but soon, he suddenly remembered something and widened his eyes.

"You... don't tell me you like girls?"

An Ran almost slammed on the brakes, then said embarrassedly and angrily, "You're the one who likes girls!"

"Well, I naturally like girls."

An Ran: "..."

Seeing her get angry, Jiang Che looked ahead, "Just stop at the intersection."

As a result, after he finished speaking, An Ran didn't make a sound, didn't stop the car, and drove directly into the residential complex.

"What are you doing?"

"Thirsty, going to your place for a drink."
