41: Chapter 41 I like it, I like it so much, I like it to death.
Monday morning.
By the time Jiang Che entered the company, from the entrance all the way to the elevator, there were no welcoming lines and no banners.
"Didn't they say Su Su was coming to the company today?" After walking to the office, Jiang Che looked at An Ran, who had arrived early.
"Mm, she'll be here in ten minutes."
"In the past, whenever a celebrity or influencer came, wouldn't there be a big welcoming ceremony with all the fanfare?"
Hearing this, An Ran's expression was slightly helpless. "Su Su is different from those others. If it gets out that she's coming to the company, I'm afraid the downstairs area would be swarmed in no time."
Jiang Che heard this and smiled faintly. "As expected, fame brings trouble."
An Ran stood by the window until she saw a familiar business van pull up downstairs, then she spoke up: "She's here."
Having said that, she immediately picked up her phone, made a call, spoke a few brief words, and prepared to rush to the conference room. Before leaving, she added: "Jiang Che, I might not be able to get away today. If there's anything urgent, just send me a message."
Jiang Che gave an OK sign, and only then did she leave, feeling reassured.
Soon, the door to the largest conference room at Zhaoyuan Media opened.
Chen Xuan walked into the conference room with Su Su. Inside, seven or eight people were already seated—all of Zhaoyuan Media's core leadership team.
Chen Xuan had been here before and was familiar with a few of them, so she smiled and greeted them.
As for Su Su, her gaze behind her sunglasses swept across the faces of the people opposite her at the long table, but she didn't see that familiar figure.
"Ms. Su Su, Ms. Chen, per your request, we kept everything simple and didn't make a big show of it. Please forgive us." An Ran, sitting in the corner, nodded to Chen Xuan and offered an explanation.
"It's fine, this is quite good," Su Su said softly.
"Alright, then Ms. Su Su, let me introduce the Zhaoyuan staff attending the meeting today, and then we can begin..."
In the office, after Luo Yao arrived at the company, she stared at Jiang Che with wide, expectant eyes, leaving him feeling rather bewildered.
"Did you suddenly realize I'm very handsome? Staring at me like that..." Jiang Che couldn't help but say.
Luo Yao's face turned red. "That's not it..."
"Hmm?"
"I mean, you, uh, look okay, but that's not why I'm looking at you. Has Su Su arrived at the company yet?"
Jiang Che nodded.
Seeing his confirmation, Luo Yao's eyes were full of excitement, and she grabbed Jiang Che's arm.
"Hey, it's broad daylight. You two, mind your image." Yang Fei, who had just walked in, saw the situation and spoke up immediately.
Luo Yao let go, feeling a bit embarrassed, then pouted, looking at him with those same expectant eyes.
Jiang Che was both amused and exasperated, then said: "Don't worry, I remember. I'll ask her assistant to help me check on it later."
Hearing this, Luo Yao nodded like a chicken pecking at rice. "Mm-hmm! My dad has been looking forward to this for a long time. After work today, I'll treat you to dinner again!"
"Your dad?" Yang Fei, who had just sat down, froze. "Your dad... wants to see his son-in-law early, so you're planning to drag Jiang Che home to suffer?"
"Oh, that's not it!" Luo Yao was blushing furiously from Yang Fei's teasing and gave him a cute glare.
"Sigh, little Luo Yao, you really shouldn't learn from your Sister An Ran."
"Learn what?"
"Your Sister An Ran is the same. She speaks to Jiang Che in such a soft, gentle voice, but as soon as it's me, she's fierce and hostile. It's obviously double standards."
"You're the one who's fierce and hostile!" Luo Yao retorted, annoyed.
"So you admit there are double standards?"
Yang Fei's words left Luo Yao speechless, her ears turning red.
Jiang Che smiled. "I'm more handsome than you. Isn't it normal for the girls in the company to treat us differently?"
Yang Fei touched his chin. "You're more handsome than me? That shouldn't be right..."
Seeing this, Luo Yao added: "Jiang Che is naturally more handsome than you!"
At noon, in the VIP private room of the company cafeteria, Su Su sat at the head of the table. Several others were at the round table, clearly the same people who had attended the morning meeting.
Just after sitting down, Su Su noticed her phone vibrating in her bag.
After taking it out, she saw a message from Jiang Che.
"Ms. Chen, I would like two of Su Su's autographs. Could you please help me ask?"
Su Su furrowed her brows slightly. After two seconds, she replied: "Didn't you... not really like her?"
"It's not for me. It's for a colleague's dad and my younger sister."
Looking at his reply, Su Su's expression was strange. "So, you admit you don't like her?"
"Ms. Chen, that question is too tricky. You're Su Su's assistant; how could I dare say I don't like her? I like her, I really like her, I like her to death."
Jiang Che's reply made the popular star's cheeks heat up slightly, though her expression was one of slight feigned annoyance.
She typed a long paragraph in the chat box, but in the end, she hesitated for a few seconds, deleted it all, and sent: "I'll give them to you before I leave."
Three minutes later, Chen Xuan, who had just gone to the restroom, entered the private room led by An Ran and sat down next to Su Su.
As soon as she sat down, she lowered her voice and said to Su Su: "I just ran into Jiang Che outside."
Su Su raised an eyebrow. "And then?"
"He winked at me for some inexplicable reason and said something like... don't forget about what we just discussed."
"..." Su Su paused, then said: "What did you say to him?"
"I was in a rush to get back, so I didn't have a chance."
Su Su quietly let out a sigh of relief, then thought for a moment. "Did you bring the usual promotional photos?"
"Yes."
"After lunch, bring three of them to me."
Chen Xuan looked at the people present and whispered: "But there are seven people here..."
"They aren't for them."
"Huh?"
"Don't ask."
In the afternoon, past two o'clock, Chen Xuan carried a wrapped envelope and, led by An Ran, arrived at Jiang Che's office.
There were only two people inside: Jiang Che and Luo Yao.
Jiang Che took one look at what was in her hand and knew what was going on, so he immediately stood up: "Thank you very much, Ms. Chen."
Chen Xuan was confused. "Su Su signed them, what does it have to do with me?"
Jiang Che thought she was just being polite and smiled: "If it weren't for your help, why would Su Su bother with autographs?"
Nearby, Luo Yao, who had been organizing documents at her desk, heard the word "autographs," her eyes lit up, and she immediately turned her head to look at the envelope in Jiang Che's... hand.
Soon, the somewhat bewildered Chen Xuan left after being thanked inexplicably by Jiang Che.
As for Luo Yao, seeing Chen Xuan leave, she immediately crowded around.
Seeing her so eager, Jiang Che was amused and handed the envelope over. "Two photos. You pick one, and I'll take the other back for my sister. Remember, don't tell anyone."
Luo Yao nodded repeatedly, then couldn't wait to open the envelope.
Soon, her happiness turned into curiosity.
"Huh? There are three inside."
