162: Parents urging marriage

Driven by the County Mayors Office Meeting, all the tasks decided upon at the meeting were quickly initiated and pushed forward.

That afternoon, Lin Zifeng specifically went to Wan Guoliang's Office to report in person on the various tasks that had been studied and approved by the County Mayors Office Meeting.

In fact, he didn't strictly need to do this; decisions made collectively by the County Mayors Office Meeting could legally be implemented directly.

However, in order to show his respect for Wan Guoliang, Lin Zifeng did it anyway.

Wan Guoliang was a man of great vision and a strong sense of the big picture; working with him made Lin Zifeng feel very at ease.

Wan Guoliang had watched him step by step as he ascended to the position of county magistrate, which was why he had always held Wan Guoliang in high regard.

Wan Guoliang expressed his full support for the tasks decided by the County Mayors Office Meeting, and he also deeply detested the chaos appearing in the education sector of Yushu County.

He told Lin Zifeng to carry out his work with confidence, and if he encountered any pressure, he would share the burden with him.

One day later, led by the County Government, a special inspection team for extracurricular tutoring classes was established, composed of multiple departments including the Education Bureau, the Judicial Department, the Administration for Industry and Commerce, and the County Government Office.

The special rectification work began, and other tasks were also being pushed forward rapidly.

Time passed quickly, and in the blink of an eye, more than a week had gone by.

It was another Saturday morning; after tidying up a bit, Lin Zifeng sat on the sofa with his parents watching TV while waiting for Li Qiang to arrive.

"Zifeng, your secretary got married today. Isn't it time for your own marriage matters to be put on the agenda?

You are now a Division-Head Level county magistrate; if you remain single, it will have some impact on your official career.

Having a happy family and a supportive wife will be a plus for your future official career."

Lin Jiahua adjusted his glasses and said.

"Son, Your Father is right. You aren't young anymore; in a few months, after the New Year, you'll be twenty-seven.

It's time to consider your own major life events.

While I'm still in good health, if you get married and have children, I can still lend a hand and help you raise them."

Zhang Chunhua also chimed in to persuade him.

"Mom and Dad, don't worry about this for me. To tell you the truth, I already have a girlfriend, and our relationship is very stable."

Faced with his parents urging him to marry, Lin Zifeng had no choice but to tell the truth.

"Zifeng, you aren't just brushing me and your mother off, are you? If you already have a girlfriend, why have we never heard you mention her? And you've never brought her home either?"

Lin Jiahua said, looking somewhat skeptical.

"Dad, how could I lie to you about something like this? With the looks and ability of your son, would it be that hard to find a girlfriend?

Is there any reason for me to lie to you and Mom?"

He hadn't expected that even after telling the truth, his father would start doubting him again.

"Our son is right; I believe he wouldn't lie to us.

Son, tell us quickly, whose daughter is she? How old is she? Where is she from? Is she pretty?"

Zhang Chunhua grabbed his arm and asked happily.

Faced with his mother's barrage of questions, Lin Zifeng felt a headache coming on.

However, since he had already brought it up, he couldn't avoid answering.

So he organized his thoughts before saying: "Mom, my girlfriend is from the provincial capital, two years younger than me, twenty-four years old this year.

She only graduated from university a year ago, comes from a very good family, and is beautiful; she's the type who is both beautiful and kind-hearted."

"Oh, so she's from the provincial capital! Is it because the distance is too far that you haven't brought her back for us to see?"

Zhang Chunhua asked further.

"That is one of the reasons. The main thing is that she just graduated from university not long ago and doesn't want to get married so soon.

Also, due to some other reasons, she doesn't want us to make our relationship public so quickly.

Mom and Dad, I'm telling you this today because I don't want you to worry about my marriage.

I will handle this well, so please don't urge me to get married anymore.

In a couple of years, when the time is right, we will make our relationship public, get married, and have children."

"Son, you say her family background is good, but how good can it be? Could it be that even though my son is so young and already a county magistrate, you still aren't a match for her family?"

Zhang Chunhua asked, looking confused.

"Mom, this matter is a bit complicated, so please don't ask any more questions. Trust me, I will handle it well."

After answering, he couldn't help but think to himself that although he was a Division-Head Level county magistrate, he was still worlds apart from a Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee!

Fortunately, he had an absolute age advantage.

"Alright, since Zifeng has already said so, let's not pry any further. It's enough to know that he already has a girlfriend.

Our way of thinking has a generation gap with theirs; let's just leave it to the young people!"

Lin Jiahua spoke up. The reason he said this was because he saw that Lin Zifeng was in a difficult position.

Lin Jiahua couldn't help but think that his son must have met his girlfriend in the provincial capital during the three months he spent training at the Provincial Party School.

The other party was likely either wealthy or powerful, which was why his son said her family background was good.

Since that was the case, he and his wife shouldn't dig for details and put Zifeng in a difficult spot.

Zhang Chunhua nodded and said: "Alright, then I won't ask anything else. I believe my son has the ability to be a county magistrate, so he will also handle his own marriage affairs perfectly.

I'll just wait to be a mother-in-law and hold my grandchild in the future."

Just then, Lin Zifeng's phone rang. Seeing it was Li Qiang calling, he knew Li Qiang had already arrived downstairs. He hung up the phone, stood up, and said: "Mom and Dad, the driver has come to pick me up.

I have to go to the wedding. It's about time, and I can't delay their banquet."

"Go ahead, Son. Today is Little Wang's big day; don't be late and make them wait for you to start the banquet.

That boy Little Wang is quite good; he has always been diligent and conscientious while working by your side."

Zhang Chunhua waved her hand and said.

Lin Zifeng agreed and pushed open the door to leave the house.

When he arrived downstairs, Li Qiang had already opened the back door and was standing by the car.

Seeing Lin Zifeng walk out of the unit door, Li Qiang said with a smile: "county magistrate, Brother Wang instructed me to make sure I pick you up exactly on time, fearing any negligence, and wanted you to be the last one to enter the hotel.

He said that only in this way could he show his importance and respect for you."

"He is the main character today, as well as the busiest person, and yet he's still thinking about things like this.

Bringing that set of officialdom practices to a wedding is just inappropriate!

Don't listen to him. We are attending his wedding today as friends, and nothing more.

Just drive as you usually do; there's no need to worry about the timing."

After saying this, he got straight into the car, and Li Qiang replied and quickly got into the driver's seat.
