337: Who wants to become a nun?

Hearing Wang Ziyan's suggestion, Lin Zifeng spoke up, "I've never been to a bar. Once, at a friend's invitation, I wanted to go and experience it."

"But as soon as I walked in, I was scared off by the environment inside; I didn't even stay for a minute."

"I advise you not to have such curiosity either. Most of those places are venues for releasing hormones."

"It's fine for guests who don't get drunk, but in such a setting, guests who do get drunk are very likely to do things that cross the line."

"You are so beautiful; if you went to a place like that, you would become a target for every man there looking for a conquest."

"It's very easy for trouble to start and for you to get caught up in it."

Hearing Lin Zifeng say she was so beautiful, Wang Ziyan felt a strange surge of joy in her heart.

"Hearing you say that, I'd better put away my curiosity! Such a place isn't suitable for you or me."

Lin Zifeng nodded, then turned to look at the eloquent tour guide, listening to the guide's energetic explanation.

The two followed behind the tour group, climbing from the foot of the mountain to the summit and then heading down the path until they reached the banks of Kunming Lake, which took a full two hours.

The tour group began their free time, and the two also walked toward the boat rental area.

They rented a small pedal boat. At the staff's request, they both put on life jackets before boarding. As they pedaled, the small boat slowly drifted toward the designated area.

The lake surface was clear and green. Gusts of breeze blew across the water, creating ripples. The golden sunlight reflected off the waves, and from time to time, water birds streaked through the sky.

Not far away, the mountain peaks overlapped, and the green water met the blue sky, forming a scenery as beautiful as a scroll painting. Being in the midst of it made one feel relaxed and happy.

The two tacitly stopped pedaling, letting the boat drift in the lake. Simultaneously, they stretched their arms, tilted their heads back, and closed their eyes. They took several deep breaths of the moist, fresh air, feeling an immense inner peace as if they had merged with nature.

After dozens of seconds, they both opened their eyes one after another. Wang Ziyan turned to look at Lin Zifeng and said, "Zifeng, this feeling is wonderful."

"If one weren't burdened by worldly trivialities and lived alone under such green water and blue sky, growing one's own grain and vegetables to be self-sufficient—that would be a life like an immortal's!"

"Coming to an environment like this occasionally to cultivate one's temperament is fine, but if you really found a place with no one around to live the kind of secluded life you mentioned, it truly wouldn't suit young people like us."

"After a long time, you wouldn't be able to adapt. After all, humans are social animals. Unless you can sever all seven emotions and six desires—but wouldn't that be the same as becoming a monk or nun?"

"If a beautiful girl like you became a nun with no desires, while the world gained another bachelor, I don't know how many men would feel heartbroken for you!"

After Lin Zifeng finished saying this, he couldn't help but laugh first.

"I was just speaking from the heart just now. Who wants to be a nun?"

Wang Ziyan gave him a playful glare and spoke with a coquettish air.

However, there was one sentence she didn't say out loud, only asking silently in her heart: 'If I really did become a nun, would you be heartbroken?'

Wang Ziyan didn't ask it aloud, so she received no answer.

"Alright, I'm done joking with you. Let's not just drift here. If we stay motionless any longer, it won't be good if the staff think something has happened to us."

"Let's pedal forward a bit! Let's not waste the rest of our time."

Hearing Lin Zifeng's words, Wang Ziyan gave an affirmative response and began pedaling with him. The small boat leisurely drifted toward the distance.

There were many such small boats on the lake. Many tourists were like them, pedaling boats for fun on the water. If they got close to each other, they would proactively avoid one another and greet each other friendly.

The two were in high spirits and played on the lake for over an hour before pedaling the boat back toward the pier.

Just then, a large sightseeing ship approached from not far away. Many tourists stood by the railings of the multi-storied boat. Among them, one woman stood at the bow like a crane among chickens, accompanied by a young married woman.

This woman was not only devastatingly beautiful, but her entire being involuntarily exuded an air of nobility.

The male tourists on the ship frequently stole glances at this beautiful figure. Because of her temperament and appearance, she gave off a feeling of someone who could be admired from afar but not trifled with, so no one dared to approach her.

The woman stood quietly at the bow, gazing into the distance with a pensive expression.

The beautiful woman and the surrounding scenery formed a perfect picture, looking extremely pleasing to the eye.

The young woman beside her swept her gaze across the lake and saw the small boat carrying Lin Zifeng and Wang Ziyan dozens of meters away. Her eyes narrowed, revealing an expression of disbelief.

She subconsciously rubbed her eyes. After confirming she hadn't seen wrongly, she hurriedly reached out and pulled the arm of the woman beside her.

Under the woman's puzzled gaze, she said urgently, "Yanran, look quickly! Isn't the man on that small boat the benefactor we've been searching for in vain?"

"We searched for two years without any news. To think we'd see our benefactor again here! Truly, one can wear out iron shoes in a fruitless search, only to find it by chance without any effort!"

Hearing the young woman's words, Li Yanran's whole body trembled. She turned and grabbed the woman's arms with both hands, saying urgently, "Sister Rulin, is what you're saying true? Where is he?"

Zhao Rulin endured the pain in her arms and pointed at the small boat nearby, saying, "Isn't he right there?"

Li Yanran looked in the direction of her finger and saw Lin Zifeng. After seeing his face clearly, she was ecstatic. A flower-like smile bloomed on her flawless face, making the surrounding scenery pale in comparison.

She was just about to wave and greet Lin Zifeng when the small boat turned toward the small pier. Lin Zifeng and the other person's backs were now toward them, and the large ship was also moving away from the small pier toward the large pier over two hundred meters away.

Li Yanran showed an urgent expression, stamping her feet in frustration.

Zhao Rulin quickly comforted her, "Yanran, don't be anxious. They've gone ashore, and our boat is about to dock too. There aren't many tourists right now; we'll definitely be able to find them."

Li Yanran nodded and turned to walk toward the disembarkation point. She wanted to go ashore the very moment the boat docked.

Zhao Rulin followed closely behind Li Yanran, fearing she might accidentally fall into the water in her haste.

After Lin Zifeng and Wang Ziyan went ashore, they took off their life jackets, handed them to the staff, and walked off in another direction.

The two planned to head back to the scenic area's main entrance from another direction to end this afternoon's itinerary, find a place for dinner, and then return to the hotel to rest.

This was Lin Zifeng's suggestion. Wang Ziyan knew he needed to be in his best state to report to the Central Party School tomorrow, so she readily agreed.
