70: painstaking

The next day, before dawn had fully broken, Lin Zifeng and the others got up one after another.

After tidying up a bit, the group of seven drove away from the hotel and soon arrived near the Meigaole Hotel. They left Li Qiang behind, and the six of them took the brochures and staked out the area near the hotel.

The six people split into three groups: Lin Zifeng and Jiang Yufei in one group, Cao Shuang and Wang Zhongyu in another, and Hu Yulin and Liu Ju in the third.

More than ten minutes later, a middle-aged man in his forties, wearing a tracksuit and sneakers, walked out of the hotel.

Lin Zifeng and Jiang Yufei exchanged a glance and quickly followed him.

The middle-aged man began to jog while swinging his arms.

"Sir, are you exercising? The air here is really quite fresh in the morning."

Lin Zifeng jogged alongside the man and struck up a conversation.

The middle-aged man turned his head to look at the two, who had been keeping a distance of over a meter from him, nodded, and said, "The air here is indeed good. Are you out for a morning jog with your girlfriend? There aren't many young people who like to exercise these days!"

Neither Lin Zifeng nor Jiang Yufei explained, as they felt there was no need to.

"Don't people often say that life lies in movement? Exercising in the morning keeps you energetic for the whole day."

Just like that, Lin Zifeng jogged along with the man, chatting casually with him.

Seeing that he still hadn't gotten to the point, Jiang Yufei became a bit anxious and wanted to take out the brochure to introduce it to him, but Lin Zifeng stopped her.

In this way, the two accompanied the middle-aged man on his jog for over half an hour, running from the other side back to a spot not far from the hotel.

Seeing Cao Shuang and the others handing out brochures to people coming out of the hotel, the middle-aged man slowed from a jog to a walk. As he walked forward, he said, "Merchants these days really know how to hustle; they're even handing out flyers here."

"Mr. Wang, let me tell you, these people weren't sent by merchants."

Lin Zifeng looked at the middle-aged man, who was shaking his head, and sighed.

"Oh, they weren't sent by merchants? Then what are they doing? Do you know where they're from?"

The middle-aged man stopped in curiosity and looked at him, asking.

"To tell you the truth, they are all my colleagues. We are all Cadres from Heping Town, Yushu County, Chunhua City. The person beside me isn't my girlfriend, but our town's Propaganda Committee Member, Comrade Jiang Yufei."

"This is our Heping Town Party Secretary, Comrade Lin Zifeng."

Jiang Yufei introduced Lin Zifeng to him as well.

"Oh, I thought you were a couple of college students! Who would have thought! You're actually two town leaders. My name is Wang Zhenfa, and I'm in the aquatic product business. Very nice to meet you."

The two quickly shook his hand. "The two of you have been running with me for so long; it can't just be for morning exercise, right? I'll give you five minutes to state your purpose."

The man raised his wrist, checked the time, and said.

Jiang Yufei quickly took out a brochure and began to introduce Heping Town.

A few minutes later, she added, "Mr. Wang, although Heping Town is located in a remote area and its conditions in various aspects cannot be compared to big cities, we have our own advantages. Heping Town not only has fresh air and a beautiful environment, but also a larger supply of relatively cheap labor. In addition, we have more preferential policies for investment attraction. If you have any intention to invest, please seriously consider Heping Town."

After saying this, Jiang Yufei handed the brochure to Wang Zhenfa with both hands.

Wang Zhenfa took the brochure and said with a smile, "I can see that you've really gone to great lengths to attract investment. If I hadn't heard your detailed introduction, I would have thought you were just handing out flyers!"

"Please forgive our presumption, Mr. Wang. We really have no other choice. Compared to other cities and counties, our township doesn't have any competitive edge. The organizers wouldn't even give a township like ours a booth at the investment fair. If we want to develop the local economy and improve people's livelihoods, this is our only option."

Lin Zifeng explained.

"I'm afraid I have to disappoint you both. I'm in the aquatic product business, which has nothing to do with your town!"

Wang Zhenfa shook his head and said.

"All businesses are connected. Doing business is nothing more than making a profit. As long as a profit can be made, does the industry really matter?"

Lin Zifeng was unwilling to give up and tried to persuade him from another angle.

"Hahaha, I can't deny what you said. Businesspeople value profit, and officials value political achievements. I want to ask you, this young Secretary, are you going to such great lengths to attract investment just to develop the local economy and change the local people's livelihood?"

Wang Zhenfa laughed heartily as he spoke.

"I cannot deny that is one of my important goals. As a grassroots Cadre, being able to develop the local economy and improve the local people's livelihood is my duty and my hope. Who wouldn't want to benefit the people during their tenure? But in this process, if it can bring me political achievements, allow me and my partners to gain something, and also let the Investor get the benefits they deserve, isn't that a win-win-win situation?"

Lin Zifeng said very frankly.

"You young Secretary, you are quite honest. You didn't fill your mouth with empty words and clichés, constantly bringing up the common people just to show off your high moral character. Very good. I will consider it carefully and read this brochure seriously when I go back. If I really have the intention to invest, I will definitely contact you."

Wang Zhenfa looked at the contact information on the brochure, nodded, and said.

The two shook hands with Wang Zhenfa again to thank him and watched him walk into the hotel before looking away.

"Secretary, do you think this President Wang will go to Heping Town to invest?"

"Who can say for sure? It doesn't hurt to try. Let's go, let's find the next target."

Jiang Yufei nodded and followed him to look for the next target.

Time quickly reached eleven o'clock in the morning. Lin Zifeng and the other five gathered together to summarize the situation of the morning.

They had handed out nearly a hundred brochures, and two-thirds of them had been casually thrown into trash cans by people, which made Jiang Yufei quite annoyed.

She felt that the fruits of her labor had been trampled upon.

Lin Zifeng comforted her, saying, "This situation is unavoidable; there's no need to get angry over these small things. If one person out of these hundred brochures contacts us and is interested in our project, we can consider ourselves successful."

Everyone nodded one after another. Cao Shuang spoke up, "The Secretary is right. Let's keep up the good work this afternoon. The more brochures we hand out, the greater our hope."

Just then, a woman around thirty years old, wearing a professional suit and looking very capable, came up to them.

She said, "Could you give me one of your brochures? I'd like to take it back and show it to my boss."
