141: It’s not spring when I come!
"You're driving to school now? Are you not staying in the dorm anymore?"
"Yeah, I rented a place outside. I rarely go back to Dorm 305 now."
"Is it an apartment in a residential complex?"
"Yes."
Qin Manyun's tone carried a hint of envy: "That's so nice. Being able to rent a place outside, not only is the environment better, but you also have more freedom."
"I suppose so."
Ye Su glanced at Qin Manyun, not understanding why she was acting so envious.
Ye Su naturally knew that her current boyfriend was a local who had received a demolition settlement.
Not to mention anything else, renting a place and moving out of the dorm wouldn't be much of a financial burden for that rich guy.
If you offset that against the monthly costs of getting hotel rooms and such, the expenses probably wouldn't be much different.
"So, did you buy a car and drive to school every day?"
Hearing Qin Manyun beat around the bush and eventually start asking about the car, combined with how they were together last semester, Ye Su understood that she was trying to get ideas about him again.
"No, the car was lent to me by a friend. I'll return it to him after the summer break."
"Is that so?"
Qin Manyun wasn't as easily fooled as the three guys, Lin Jingjie included, who would believe the claim that "the car was borrowed from a friend" just because they saw the temporary license plate.
What kind of friend buys a car and lets someone else drive it before even getting the license plates?
Furthermore, Qin Manyun could tell that the clothes Ye Su was wearing weren't cheap.
When they were dating last week, the total cost of everything Ye Su wore wasn't as expensive as this Fila short-sleeved shirt he was wearing now.
The only explanation was that Ye Su's financial situation had improved, he was much wealthier than last semester, and he must have bought the car himself.
It's just that I arrived out of season!
Seeing that Ye Su only became wealthy after they broke up, Qin Manyun was so angry that her fingernails turned white from gripping her hands so tightly.
"Last Friday afternoon, I happened to see you leaving with a beautiful woman at the school gate. Is that your new girlfriend?"
"We're just ordinary friends. She just happened to have something to discuss with me."
"Oh, just ordinary friends? Seeing her come all the way to school to pick you up, I thought you two were together."
Since when did Ye Su have the ability to know a friend who was so beautiful and drove a Ferrari 458?
Birds of a feather flock together.
Judging by that rich second-generation's attitude toward Ye Su, Ye Su must have some outstanding qualities for the other person to be so friendly.
If you were to ask what "outstanding qualities" Ye Su had, during the time they were together, Qin Manyun could only find one.
Could that beautiful woman driving a Ferrari be a mistress kept by some tycoon, and that mistress is now using the tycoon's money to keep Ye Su?
Not to mention, Ye Su definitely looks good, and with those "outstanding qualities," it wasn't impossible for him to be kept by a lonely mistress.
Once this thought appeared, it kept growing in Qin Manyun's mind, making her think she had guessed the truth.
Just how much money did that mistress give Ye Su to allow him to buy an Audi and change into these expensive clothes?
"Mm."
Unaware that he was being regarded as the "mistress's gigolo," Ye Su was busy eating breakfast. After nodding, he didn't say anything else, just kept chewing the bread in his mouth and walking forward quickly.
Even though she was convinced that Ye Su was a gigolo kept by a mistress, Qin Manyun had no intention of giving up; she kept following him, trying to find topics to chat with him.
The saying, "If you ignore me today, you won't be able to reach me tomorrow," was perfectly embodied between the two of them.
When they were together last year, Qin Manyun used to put on airs, enjoying Ye Su's flattery and attentiveness.
Now that she was taking the initiative to approach him, Ye Su's attention to her was not even as much as the bread and milk in his hands.
They chatted all the way to the teaching area. Seeing they were about to part ways, Qin Manyun revealed her intentions:
"I haven't ridden in an Audi before. How about we find some time to drive out and hang out?"
Hearing this, Ye Su glanced at Qin Manyun: Was she trying to get back together, or was she preparing to two-time?
Regardless of what Qin Manyun was planning, Ye Su could only mourn for that demolition heir.
"Sure, next time I'll bring my girlfriend, and you can bring your boyfriend, and we'll all go out together."
Dropping that sentence, Ye Su went up the stairs, leaving Qin Manyun standing there, gnashing her teeth. She didn't even have time to ask, "Didn't you say that beautiful woman wasn't your girlfriend?"
"So what if you bought an Audi by relying on a woman? What's so great about that!"
Feeling resentful, Qin Manyun immediately decided that she must make her boyfriend find a way to buy a BBA.
...
On the other side, after finishing his 8 AM class, Ye Su had nowhere to go, so he returned to Dorm 305, opened his computer, and played a few rounds of games with his three dudes.
With women, dudes, money, and a car, Ye Su felt that his current life was simply too comfortable.
He stayed in the dorm until after four in the afternoon before leaving, under the gazes of his three dudes who looked at him like he was a traitor.
Not returning to his rented place immediately, Ye Su first went to the shopping mall and bought some organic grains and low-sugar pastries suitable for the elderly, along with two cans of formula milk powder for middle-aged and elderly people, and then went to Ye Kaijun's home.
Of course, Ye Su wasn't going there for the old man's few cans of dried tangerine peel. He hadn't stooped so low as to have a system bound to him and still harbor ulterior motives, eyeing the old man's belongings.
It was just that he had just received a can of aged tangerine peel worth over three hundred thousand from Ye Kaijun in the early morning, and he felt a bit embarrassed in his heart.
Thinking that Ye Kaijun was a lonely elderly man living alone, and had just fainted on the road in the early morning, he didn't know how he was doing today, so he took the opportunity while he had nothing to do to come by his house and check on him.
Knock, knock, knock—
"Who is it?"
After knocking and waiting for a while, Ye Kaijun's voice, slightly filled with suspicion, came from behind the door, but he didn't open it immediately.
"Uncle Jun, it's me, Xiao Su."
Creak—
The sound of hinges rubbing together echoed as Ye Kaijun opened the door: "Oh, it's Xiao Su. Why are you here?"
Ye Su raised the bag in his hand: "I had nothing to do, so I came over to check on you and brought you some things."
"Oh, you coming is enough, why bring things!" Ye Kaijun stepped aside: "Come in and sit."
"It's fine, these things aren't worth much. I just happened to go to the mall and bought them on the way."
Upon entering, Ye Su noticed that the room was basically the same as it was in the early morning, with two of the three bedroom doors open and one closed.
"Next time, just come yourself. Don't buy things anymore. I'm just one person; even if you buy them, I can't finish them, and it will just be a waste."
Ye Su went along with the old man's wishes: "Okay, I understand."
Then he put the things in his hands on the table:
"I bought some pastries; they are low-sugar. When you drink tea, you can have them with it.
These are millet and oats, which are good for the stomach and digestion. You can boil them and eat them occasionally.
And there are two cans of formula milk powder. Drinking a cup of milk every day is better for your health. However, when you mix it, remember not to use water that is too hot; about fifty degrees is fine."
As Ye Su took out the items and gave his instructions, he didn't notice that Ye Kaijun, who was watching him from behind, had eyes already crinkled into lines from smiling.
