318: The Super Invincible Universe

[Ding!]

[Congratulations to the Host for rescuing the drowning person and successfully completing the [hidden task - Act of Bravery]!]

[The task rewards are now being issued to the Host—660,000 in cash and 5 points in the [Charm] attribute. Would you like to claim them?]

The notification sound for completing the [hidden task] rang out, snapping the embarrassed Ye Su completely back to his senses.

Seeing Yan Ran, who was soaked through and holding a defensive posture against him, Ye Su quickly took off his shirt, wanting to help cover her up.

But Ye Su's sudden movement caused Yan Ran, who was already on guard, to feel her heart instantly sink to the bottom. She instinctively reached for the pepper spray in her pocket.

Yet when Yan Ran reached into her pants pocket, she realized the pepper spray inside had fallen out at some point.

It had probably floated out of her pocket while she was struggling in the water earlier and was washed away by the splashes she made.

Just as Yan Ran was wondering whether to try shouting for help to see if she could get the attention of the anglers on the other side, Ye Su had already taken off his black short-sleeved shirt and handed it to her:

"Here, you can wear this shirt. Although it's wet, it can still cover you up a bit. This shirt of mine is quite loose, so you should be able to fit into it."

So he was just taking off his shirt to give to me.

Ye Su's action made Yan Ran realize that she had judged a noble person with her own petty mind, misunderstanding the young man who had just saved her life.

She also blamed herself; for the past two years, she had constantly been on guard against the men around her who had designs on her.

Over time, she had developed an automatic wariness toward all men, which led her to mistake her savior for another man who "thought with his lower half."

Ye Su had no idea that in the brief moment it took him to take off his shirt, so many thoughts had flashed through Yan Ran's mind.

After the words left his mouth, Ye Su realized he seemed to have said the wrong thing and quickly added, "I didn't mean that you're fat!"

But after saying this, Ye Su felt like something was still not quite right.

Saying she could probably fit into his shirt, and then clarifying he didn't mean she was fat—wasn't his implied meaning incredibly obvious?

"Uh..." The more he tried to explain, the worse it got. Ye Su didn't know how else to explain, so he could only hand the shirt over. "If you don't mind, just wear it."

"Pfft—"

Ye Su's embarrassed state as he repeatedly tried to explain himself after taking off his shirt made Yan Ran burst into laughter.

This handsome young guy who saved me is actually pretty cute.

Having struggled in society for so many years and met all kinds of people, Yan Ran had developed a good eye for reading people.

From Ye Su saving her from the water without a second thought to his current embarrassment while giving her his shirt, Yan Ran could be sure that Ye Su was not a bad person.

As for his gaze wandering to the wrong place earlier, it was merely a man's natural instinct.

"Thank you, then."

Lowering her guard, Yan Ran smiled as she took the shirt from Ye Su's hand and slipped it directly over her head.

Seeing this, Ye Su quickly turned around, picking up his phone from the ground while he was at it.

"Okay, I'm done."

Hearing Yan Ran's voice, Ye Su turned back around, but his eyes instinctively glanced at a certain spot, wanting to see if the shirt he provided had done its job.

With just one glance, Ye Su realized that the saying "black makes you look slimmer" was a total lie.

All he could say was that it was indeed universally, super, invincibly big.

Fortunately, with his prior experience, Ye Su quickly withdrew his gaze after that single glance and looked straight at Yan Ran:

"Are you alright? Do you need me to take you to the hospital for a checkup?"

"No need."

Yan Ran moved her limbs around, confirming she wasn't injured. She had only choked on a few gulps of water and was a little shaken up:

"Thank you for saving my life. I don't even know your name yet?"

Ye Su, of course, wasn't going to play the "anonymous good Samaritan" card, so he gave his name directly: "My name is Ye Su."

"Jesus?" Yan Ran burst out laughing. "You can't just call yourself Jesus just because you saved me, right?"

"Uh..."

Since childhood, Ye Su had been teased by his classmates about his name quite a lot.

It was only after entering college, when his classmates weren't as childish, that Ye Su finally got rid of that nickname.

Seeing that Yan Ran had misheard and thought he was joking, Ye Su still felt a wave of speechlessness:

"Not Jesus, but Ye Su." Ye Su tried his best to enunciate his Mandarin as clearly as possible. "The 'Ye' of leaf, and the 'Su' of perilla leaf."

"I'm so sorry." After Ye Su's explanation, Yan Ran realized she had misunderstood. "But your name is actually quite interesting. You can't blame me for mishearing it."

Ye Su could only continue explaining, "My dad's surname is Ye, and my mom's surname is Su, so they named me Ye Su."

Yan Ran suddenly understood. "Ah, so that's how it is."

Immediately after, Yan Ran felt a twinge of envy in her heart.

Being named after his parents' surnames, this handsome young guy must have grown up surrounded by his parents' love.

No wonder he gave off the vibe of a bright, cheerful young man.

"Let's introduce ourselves." Yan Ran proactively extended her right hand:

"My name is Yan Ran, and I'm the owner of Joyful Gathering. Thank you for saving my life tonight. If you ever need help in the future, you can come to Joyful Gathering to find me."

"Wow!" Ye Su feigned a look of surprise while shaking Yan Ran's outstretched hand. "Joyful Gathering is actually run by you!"

"Yes," Yan Ran said generously. "In the future, when you shop at Joyful Gathering, you can put it on my tab."

"Haha." Ye Su laughed heartily. "Then I'll have to prepare two sacks tomorrow and go on a proper shopping spree at Joyful Gathering."

"Suit yourself. At least in my opinion, compared to my life, even if you cleared out Joyful Gathering completely, it wouldn't be worth mentioning."

Yan Ran's words were half out of sincerity, and the other half was because she felt that Ye Su didn't seem like the type of person who would take petty advantages.

"Then I'll thank CEO Yan in advance."

"And don't call me CEO Yan either. No matter how you look at it, I'm older than you. If you don't mind, just call me Sister Ran."

Ye Su didn't stand on ceremony. "Alright, Sister Ran."

Different forms of address naturally represented different levels of closeness.

Just then, a gust of wind blew by, and Yan Ran, who was wearing three layers of wet clothes, couldn't help but shiver.

Even Ye Su, whose Physique was rated by the system as [Strong and Robust], felt a bit of a chill.

"Our clothes are all wet. We should probably head home and change," Ye Su suggested.

"My car is parked just behind us. Do you need a ride home?"

"No need, I drove here myself."

Yan Ran patted her pants pocket and found her phone wasn't lost. She took it out and pressed the power button, finding it could still turn on normally:

"Let's add each other first so we can keep in touch."

"Sure."

Ye Su scanned the QR code, and after adding Yan Ran as a contact, the two of them walked out of the reservoir area together.

"By the way,"

As they walked side by side toward where their cars were parked in the same direction, Yan Ran asked curiously:

"Why are you out here so late?"
