254: Good boss
After leaving Yunqi Garden, Ye Su first went back to his rented apartment to pick up dozens of boxes of Lego blocks and those two Qing dynasty beechwood stools, and only then did he drive to the Echo Antique Shop.
His timing was perfect.
Just as Ye Su started moving things into the shop, a familiar figure arrived at the entrance, poking her head in to look around.
Ye Su had just put down the two stools when he turned around and happened to lock eyes with the sneaky figure outside the door.
“Hello, excuse me, are you hiring here?”
Back in high school, joking around had already become a habit for them. At this moment, Ye Su went along with Yu Jinle and waved at her:
“Yes, please come in and have a seat.”
“Wow—”
After stepping inside, Yu Jinle stopped acting and simply looked around, constantly uttering exclamations of amazement:
“So this is the shop you opened. It looks pretty nice.”
With just one look, Yu Jinle fell in love with the shop's environment, filled as it was with all kinds of vintage items.
“Since you think it's alright, do you want to come over and be the store manager?”
“Well, that depends on how much salary you're going to pay me.”
Actually, Yu Jinle's expectations for this job weren't that high.
After all, given their relationship, working for Ye Su and then asking him for her salary every month made Yu Jinle feel a bit awkward.
The reason she came over today...
First, because Ye Su had personally invited her, and Yu Jinle felt too embarrassed to reject him outright.
And second, Yu Jinle wanted to see what kind of shop Ye Su had opened after giving up on a perfectly good bachelor's degree and dropping out before finishing his junior year.
“Don't worry, I definitely won't shortchange you on the salary.” Ye Su began listing them one by one for Yu Jinle, according to the benefits package he had thought up yesterday:
“A base salary of six thousand per month, plus a 1% commission on the shop's turnover. You'll have the five social insurances and one housing fund. The housing fund contribution ratio is 5% to 12%—however much you contribute, I will match it in full.”
“In addition, there's a double salary at the end of the year, which will also be calculated based on your total monthly salary divided by the number of months you worked this year.”
“But except for Chinese New Year, the shop doesn't close for regular holidays. Instead, you'll have fixed days off every week on Monday and tuesday, which is also equivalent to two days off a week.”
“If you need to ask for leave, you have to let me know in advance so I can see who I can find to cover your shift.”
“Then the daily working hours are from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM, and you can close the shop to rest from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM.”
“On workdays, I'll cover your lunch with a 25-yuan meal allowance per meal. I won't bother you with submitting payment records for reimbursement either; it will just be added to your salary, and how much you want to spend on food is entirely up to you.”
“I reckon business in the shop won't be too busy normally. Anyway, when there's nothing to do, nobody will care what you do in the shop.”
“Whether you want to binge-watch shows, study for a top-up bachelor's degree, or prepare for a civil service exam back in your hometown, there's a computer in the shop. You can use your free time to study. I only ask that you look after the shop when customers come in.”
Since the salary was paid by the [Ruyi Abacus] anyway, Ye Su wasn't stingy and directly maxed out Yu Jinle's salary and benefits.
With a base salary of six thousand, plus a 1% commission calculated on a monthly turnover of one hundred thousand yuan, that would be another one thousand yuan. Add to that the meal allowance for over twenty days, and her monthly salary would already reach seven thousand five hundred.
In addition, for the five social insurances, Ye Su would have to contribute about 1,200 yuan for her, plus the housing fund, which would be another nearly two thousand yuan.
As long as Yu Jinle put in a bit more effort to drum up more business for the shop...
With all the miscellaneous benefits factored in, she could make around ten thousand yuan a month, not to mention the double salary at the end of the year.
Besides the benefits, Ye Su believed that working for him would definitely be several times easier than working at an outside company.
Jobs are so hard to find outside these days.
If Yu Jinle didn't even grasp this opportunity, there was nothing Ye Su could do to help.
“How about it? Do you want to come work for me?” Ye Su asked, looking at Yu Jinle, who was already somewhat dazed.
“Yes!” Coming back to her senses, Yu Jinle immediately nodded vigorously.
In fact, the moment Ye Su spoke and said he would give her a six thousand base salary, Yu Jinle already wanted to agree.
It was just that the subsequent series of benefits—commission, five insurances and one fund, two days off a week, meal allowance, and freedom to study in the shop—was simply too fantastical. It had left Yu Jinle stunned, preventing her from agreeing immediately.
As for Yu Jinle's current internship, since she didn't have her graduation certificate yet, she could forget about the five insurances and one fund.
Aside from a monthly internship salary of two thousand eight hundred yuan plus a one hundred yuan perfect attendance bonus, she had no other benefits.
And because having two days off a week was practically treated as illegal in Yangcheng, her previous company implemented an alternating single/double weekend schedule.
Low pay, lots of work, and far from home—that perfectly described her previous job.
If the benefits hadn't been so poor, Yu Jinle wouldn't have found it so unbearable that she decided to pack up and quit by the end of this month.
And when Yu Jinle handed in her resignation, her wild hope was simply to find a job with a monthly salary of four thousand yuan that didn't only give her one day off a week once she got her graduation certificate.
Now, Ye Su's base salary alone had already far exceeded Yu Jinle's expectations.
Not to mention the huge stack of benefits after that, which she had never even dreamed of.
If it weren't for their relationship and the fact that she had already met Chen Xinyi last time...
Yu Jinle would have suspected whether Ye Su was offering such great benefits because he wanted to keep her as a mistress.
Or maybe after a few months, he would say he was arranging an overseas team-building trip, only for them to have to transfer in places like Northern Myanmar.
“Alright, since you've agreed, then it's settled.”
It was well within Ye Su's expectations that Yu Jinle would accept this job.
After all, even most undergraduates couldn't find a job like this after graduation, so how could Yu Jinle possibly resist such benefits?
“For now, you'll be the only one in the shop. I'll see if I can hire another person to help out during this time. Or if you have any suitable candidates, you can also introduce them.”
“Okay,” Yu Jinle agreed again.
“Are the benefits you mentioned really true, or are you just playing a joke on me?”
After her excitement gradually cooled down, Yu Jinle asked again, still finding it a bit hard to believe.
“Do I look like I have nothing better to do? Why would I skip my afternoon nap at home just to come here and trick you?”
“True.” Yu Jinle scratched her head awkwardly, still feeling a bit of unreality in her heart:
“But the shop is a bit far from where I'm currently renting. I'll need to find an apartment around here first and move over, so I might not be able to start work immediately tomorrow.”
“Yeah.” Ye Su didn't mind. “Today is the end of the month, and we have the Dragon Boat Festival holidays these few days anyway. I'll count your start date as tomorrow, the first of the month, and then you can come open the shop next Wednesday. That should be fine, right?”
“No problem!”
Yu Jinle swore that Ye Su was absolutely the best boss in the world!
“Alright, then help me move the things outside inside.”
Once it was confirmed that Yu Jinle was coming to work, Ye Su started putting his employee to work.
“Okay.”
When Ye Su led her to the Audi parked outside, Yu Jinle looked surprised again:
“This car is yours too?”
