83: How can that be so nice?

Just as Ye Su thought Li Mengyao was about to get to the point and transfer the fifty-thousand-yuan thank-you fee to him, Li Mengyao unexpectedly changed the subject:

"Last time at Wan Yuanliang's shop, Wan Yuanliang said there was a connection between the two of us, and I was half-doubting it. Now it seems Wan Yuanliang was really right.

Not only did I manage to buy two paintings and the golden pearls because of you, but now, even when you just go out to sell some scrap, you manage to find the documents our group lost."

With the documents recovered, Li Mengyao was clearly in a very good mood and began to feel like discussing the topic of fate with Ye Su.

But to Ye Su's ears, this was a different story.

What does that mean?

Not talking about money anymore, starting to talk about feelings instead?

Li Mengyao was certainly beautiful, but Ye Su didn't have any fantasies about stories where a rich girl falls for a poor boy like him.

At the very least, Ye Su felt that in front of Li Mengyao, he was still just a poor boy for the time being.

Since he didn't have any such fantasies, for Ye Su, naturally, the money he could actually get his hands on was more practical.

"Haha, now that you mention it, it really is quite a coincidence." For the sake of the fifty thousand yuan, Ye Su had no choice but to pick up on Li Mengyao's thread:

"It's a good thing you didn't suspect that all these things were intentionally arranged by me because I had some designs on you."

"Haha." Li Mengyao let out a silvery laugh: "If you could really arrange so many coincidences, I would truly have to say I admire you."

Li Mengyao rested her chin on one hand, leaning relaxed against the table: "Besides, if there really were a handsome guy like you secretly arranging so many things just because he had designs on me, I would accept it."

"Haha." Ye Su just let such words pass, naturally not taking them seriously: "Unfortunately, I don't have that ability yet."

"Oh?"

Li Mengyao looked at Ye Su with great interest.

She noticed that Ye Su didn't say he didn't have the ability, but that he [temporarily] didn't have that ability yet.

The confidence revealed in his tone, almost as if it were a matter of course, seemed to imply he was certain he would have that ability in the future.

Ye Su didn't seem like someone who would speak without purpose, and Li Mengyao was very curious about why he had such confidence.

"Speaking of which, we've met three times now. You know what my family does, but I still don't know what your regular job is?"

"I'm still in school; I don't have a job."

"What!" Li Mengyao was greatly surprised.

Wan Yuanliang had such a high opinion of Ye Su, almost praising him as an antique expert.

Li Mengyao had assumed Ye Su's regular job would be related to the antique industry.

And yet Ye Su told her that he was still in school?

A university student who could pick antiques, select stones, and also understood natural South Sea golden pearls?

Are university students these days all this talented?

"Are you really still in school?" Li Mengyao's tone unconsciously carried a hint of doubt.

"What, don't I look like it?" Ye Su leaned back, spreading his hands to display himself: "I'm not that old, am I?"

Li Mengyao rolled her eyes at Ye Su speechlessly: "Don't you know you shouldn't say the word 'old' in front of a lady who is older than you?"

"Oh, is that so?" Ye Su smiled awkwardly.

Li Mengyao was also amused by Ye Su's reaction: "Are you a senior?"

"Junior."

"Only a junior?" Li Mengyao asked curiously: "Then how do you know about antiques and jade?"

"The internet is so advanced now; there are people sharing whatever you want to learn. I just learned a bit randomly online when I had nothing to do, so I only know a little bit."

As he said this, Ye Su pinched his fingers together, making a gesture that would trigger the Koreans.

"Being able to see the tricks behind the two paintings I bought isn't as simple as just knowing a little bit, is it?"

"That was just a lucky guess on my part. Anyway, that big painting is... it's an authentic piece. Even if I guessed wrong, at most it would just be a wasted effort, and there wouldn't be any loss."

Fortunately, his reaction was fast enough; he almost let slip the price of the big painting.

Ye Su didn't know how much money Wan Yuanliang made in the middle by selling the painting to Li Mengyao, but he knew it must have been a lot.

If he accidentally let slip the purchase price, wouldn't he be backstabbing Wan Yuanliang?

Li Mengyao had been struggling in the business world for several years, so she naturally heard why Ye Su's tone shifted, but she didn't point it out. Instead, she felt that Ye Su was quite reliable, knowing what should be said and what shouldn't.

As for Ye Su saying he was just guessing, in Li Mengyao's view, it was nothing more than modesty.

A junior student who could understand so many things was definitely a talent!

"You're still in school, so you don't have a job or income..." Li Mengyao thought for a moment and took out her phone to start operating:

"This time, you helped me find the documents, and I don't know how to thank you. How about I send you a red envelope? It's also to wish you academic success."

It finally came!

While Li Mengyao tapped on her phone screen, Ye Su had already picked up his phone.

Buzz— Buzz—

When he unlocked it, the phone vibrated, and Ye Su received the transfer initiated by Li Mengyao.

Sixty-six thousand, six hundred and sixty-six?

Didn't the system say fifty thousand? How did it become sixty-six thousand?

Perhaps in the eyes of such a second-generation rich person, fifty thousand and sixty-six thousand didn't make much of a difference.

"How could I be so embarrassed to accept this?"

"Don't you..."

[Payment received]

Before Li Mengyao could finish her sentence, she saw that the transfer had already been accepted by Ye Su.

Li Mengyao was dumbfounded by this scene: "Didn't you say you were embarrassed? How did you click it so fast?"

"I was afraid you would take it seriously and withdraw the transfer."

Ye Su's "frank" and righteous appearance made Li Mengyao burst into laughter.

She had never met anyone who spoke to her like this, so Li Mengyao was not at all disgusted by Ye Su's operation; on the contrary, she found this person quite interesting.

If Ye Su had wanted the money but kept hypocritically declining it, Li Mengyao would have found it annoying.

"Which school are you attending?"

"Lingnan Institute of Engineering, just a second-tier university."

"Second-tier is also quite good. What major are you studying?"

"Computer science."

"From modern computers to antiques, your range is quite broad."

"Haha, that's true."

With the sixty-six-thousand-yuan thank-you fee in hand, Ye Su already wanted to grease his soles and slip away, but he felt too embarrassed to just leave after taking the money, so he had to patiently keep Li Mengyao company in conversation.

"Miss, your iced Americano."

After chatting for a while, the clerk finally brought over a cup of coffee, while simultaneously taking a close look at Ye Su and Li Mengyao.

"Thank you." Li Mengyao nodded politely to the clerk.

After the clerk walked away, Li Mengyao picked up the coffee and stood up: "I still have to send the documents back to the company. Let's meet again next time."

"Sure." Ye Su also couldn't wait to get up and leave.

"Since you're leaving too, would you mind being a gentleman and helping me take the documents to the car?"

"Of course."

Li Mengyao had to hold her coffee, her bag, and carry the documents, so it was indeed not very convenient.

Ye Su had just taken a big red envelope of sixty-six thousand from her, so of course, he didn't mind providing this little bit of value-added service.
