4: It's the age when things can't be hidden
Ye Su was too excited last night, tossing and turning, not knowing when he finally fell asleep. It was already past ten when he woke up today.
Seeing Ye Su stretching on the bed with a bird's nest hairstyle, Fang Zewei, the internet-addicted youth ready to do battle on his computer, asked curiously: "When did you get back last night?"
Ye Su said while climbing down the ladder: "Around one, I guess."
"Oh, so there's something going on. Who are you simping for again?"
For college students going out in the middle of the night, they couldn't think of any reason other than chasing girls.
Jiang Zhibin asked suspiciously: "It couldn't be going back to your ex, could it? dude, I'm telling you, that woman Qin Manyun is someone you can't handle. She's a bottomless pit, don't you dare throw any more money at her!"
"[Hu Ge] is right. You saw how she acted all flirtatious after getting with that local rich guy. And now that she's a borderline influencer with tens of thousands of followers, she thinks she's a celebrity. If you keep throwing money at her, you won't outspend the local rich guy or the internet big shots. There's no way she's going to give you another chance to get close to her."
"Exactly. If you ask me, if you've got that spare cash, you might as well take us to the five-star food stall at the school gate for a good meal. I'd even call you 'Godfather'."
The three roommates chimed in to persuade Ye Su.
On one hand, they were afraid he would be like last time, letting his 'little brother' control his 'big brother' and mindlessly throwing money away.
On the other hand, they were even more afraid that he would hook up with some department beauty, which would make them grind their teeth in envy!
"Alright, alright. I just went to help a high school classmate with something last night." Fearing they would keep prying, Ye Su diverted the topic:
"Besides, I know my own limits. Aside from being handsome, I'm useless. Girls like Qin Manyun don't lack suitors, so I'm definitely not going to waste any more energy on her."
"Hmm—" Jiang Zhibin nodded, deeply convinced: "You actually have some self-awareness. It wasn't in vain that Daddy has been teaching you so carefully all this time."
"Indeed, apart from having a face like a gigolo, you don't have a single thing that compares to those local rich guys or internet big shots."
"I heard that local rich guy not only has several properties at home, but also has several buildings in the urban village collecting rent. Since Qin Manyun managed to hook such a golden turtle, why would she even look at you properly, let alone call you out for a rendezvous in the middle of the night?"
"Exactly. Getting lucky once is enough, how many piles of dog shit can this guy keep stepping on?"
"..."
"Hey, hey. Hey!" Ye Su had only wanted to change the subject, but these three bastards had tongues like they were soaked in poison. Ye Su felt his anger rising:
"Are you guys done yet? You think you're having fun, huh!"
Seeing that Ye Su was getting angry, and also confirming that he really wasn't being strung along by that materialistic girl anymore, the three bad friends stopped while they were ahead.
"By the way, didn't Ah Wei say yesterday that since it's the first weekend after the New Year, we should go out and hang out?"
Even waking up today, Ye Su was still immersed in the excitement of obtaining the system, and he was eager to find an activity to vent it out.
With the system, plus the watch worth over ten thousand sitting in the jacket beside his pillow, Ye Su felt he could afford a little financial indulgence.
"But didn't you say you had something on today and couldn't go? If the group isn't complete, it's boring to go."
"I finished what I needed to do last night. If you guys want to go out, we can go together. But forget about places like House Bar; things are expensive, and we'd just order some random stuff and sit there like idiots without even being able to pick up any girls. We might as well go sing K."
"Singing K is fine, I don't care. What do you two say?"
"Whatever."
"Then it's settled. I'll go on a group-buying site and pick a package."
At their age, it was the time when they could just find any excuse to head out. As for where to go, it didn't really matter.
While Ye Su was brushing his teeth after using the bathroom, Fang Zewei picked a KTV more than two kilometers from the school. He bought a package from nine in the evening until the early morning, plus two crates of beer, a fruit platter, and snacks, totaling 299.
Split up, it was only seventy-something yuan per person.
At a distance of over two kilometers, if the four of them rode shared bikes back and forth at night, they could save a few dozen more yuan. The motto was to save where they could and spend where they should.
While on the toilet, Ye Su scrolled through the local TikTok and searched simply based on follower counts, but didn't find any female streamer posting a lost-and-found notice, which finally put his mind at ease.
It wasn't early, so Ye Su didn't bother with breakfast. After brushing his teeth, he returned to bed. While his three roommates were playing computer games under the bed, he expertly took several videos and photos of the watch from various angles, then opened a second-hand platform.
"Never worn, and it's already 65% of the price..."
When he couldn't sleep last night, Ye Su had already checked online and saw that the watch sold for over ten thousand on the official website, but the system only suggested he sell it for six thousand.
However, Ye Su knew that there was no such thing as holding value for these items; once it passed through your hands, you had to take a loss and sell it as 99% new second-hand.
If you treated this thing like a family heirloom and sold it for the same price as the official website, others would definitely just go to the official website to buy it instead of coming to you, and they wouldn't have to bear the risk of potentially buying a fake.
Thinking this through, and since the item was basically a freebie, Ye Su stopped feeling bad about the price difference of over four thousand yuan.
After roughly checking the second-hand prices of the same brand of watches on the platform and confirming that the price given by the system was indeed not far off, Ye Su listed the watch for six thousand yuan, noting [Never Worn] and [Local Pickup Only].
The professional price-cutters online were too terrifying. If this watch were shipped, who knew what it would look like upon arrival. He hadn't used inspection services either, so he didn't know what the situation was with those.
So Ye Su would rather list it for a while longer than have any accidents later.
Anyway, he wasn't waiting for this six thousand yuan to eat. After listing the watch, Ye Su climbed down from the bed, turned on his computer, and started a four-player squad match with the three of them for the weekend.
In the evening, the four of them grabbed a casual meal at the cafeteria, and around eight o'clock, they left school, easily found four shared bikes, and headed straight for the KTV.
Since they had booked the room for nine o'clock, and because the New Year had just passed, the pockets of the other three were inevitably a bit fuller than usual.
When they arrived, seeing that it was still early, the four of them split into two groups to buy some fried skewers and duck parts at a street stall, spending another hundred yuan or so.
Compared to their usual life, the 305 quartet was living quite luxuriously tonight.
To prevent the KTV from prohibiting outside food, when they got downstairs, Ye Su let Fang Zewei and Jiang Zhibin go up first to open the room, and wait until the waiter left to call him and Lin Jingjie up.
Using his jacket to cover the fried skewers and duck parts, Ye Su and the other managed to bring the items into the room without any mishaps.
Then, Fang Zewei and the others realized that Ye Su was indeed different today.
Singing and eating like crazy was one thing, but when they were rolling dice, he didn't cheat on his drinks at all, which was simply unbelievable!
