123: Chapter 123 Continuing the Hunt for Bald Eagles
Greentown · Shanghai Rose Garden.
Chen Mo was playing games in his study.
Just then, Old Xu walked in.
Seeing Old Xu enter, Chen Mo said,
"Is there any news from Africa?"
Old Xu stepped forward and said,
"Yes, Mr. Chen. We just received an encrypted report from the Overseas Security Headquarters."
"Falcon, Black Bear, and their teams led the charge, wiping out seven American capital sites across five African countries overnight. Oil distribution stations, rare metal mines, port freight companies—everything was blown up or burned to the ground."
Still focused on his game, Chen Mo asked,
"What about our people?"
"The first group of each team consists of our brothers from back home; they suffered no casualties and have all retreated safely."
"The second group consists of foreign mercenaries; two sustained minor injuries."
Old Xu replied.
Chen Mo nodded and said,
"Good job. This warm-up mission was completed perfectly."
Old Xu looked at Chen Mo and asked,
"Mr. Chen, what are the arrangements for next?"
Chen Mo put down his mouse and said,
"Enough with the small-scale skirmishes. Next, let's give them the real deal."
Old Xu perked up and said from the side, "Please, go on!"
"Send word to the Overseas Security Headquarters. Tell them to pick a small U.S. military base and take it out completely."
Old Xu was slightly taken aback.
"A formal U.S. military base?"
"Yes."
Chen Mo opened the intelligence records from earlier, looked at them for a moment, and said calmly,
"Choose that small U.S. observation base in Niger. It was just built this year, the garrison is small, and according to intelligence, the defenses are very lax. It's perfect for making a statement. Let them handle the specifics; if that target isn't suitable, they can choose another one themselves."
Old Xu nodded in response.
"Understood, Mr. Chen! I'll convey the order immediately!"
"Mhm."
Chen Mo continued,
"Have someone familiar with the terrain there lead the planning. I don't know much about military operations, so my words should be treated as a reference, not followed blindly. They must make their own arrangements based on the real-time situation."
"The action must be swift, clean, and leave no trace. Retreat immediately after the strike. Our people must not fall in a foreign land."
"Yes, sir!"
After responding, Old Xu turned and quickly walked out of the study to contact the Overseas Security Headquarters.
Half an hour later.
Niger, Africa. A temporary safehouse.
Falcon had just finished cleaning his gun when the encrypted satellite phone on the table suddenly rang.
Falcon picked it up immediately and said,
"This is Falcon."
On the other end was the head of the Overseas Security Headquarters:
"Falcon, there's a new order."
Falcon stood at attention and said,
"Please instruct!"
"The boss was very satisfied with the last wave of operations. Now, you are ordered to take out a small U.S. military outpost in Niger."
Falcon's pupils constricted upon hearing this.
Attacking a U.S. military base?
He thought to himself: Finally, a job worth doing.
Without the slightest hesitation, Falcon immediately replied,
"Mission guaranteed!"
The head at headquarters continued,
"You will be in full charge this time, responsible for drafting a detailed operational plan."
"Personnel and equipment are at your disposal; headquarters will provide full cooperation."
"If this target isn't suitable, report it in time to select a new one."
"But remember, the operation must be fast, covert, and leave no trace. Everyone must return safely."
"Understood! No need to change targets. I scouted that place personally; I'm very familiar with it."
Falcon nodded and replied.
"Good, handle it as you see fit!"
After hanging up, Falcon was very excited.
Just then, Cheetah walked in. Seeing Falcon's expression, he knew a job was coming. He had been in the same unit as Falcon and knew his temperament well.
Cheetah said,
"Brother Ying, is there a new order from headquarters?"
Falcon nodded. He led Cheetah to where the team members were resting, his eyes sweeping over them as he said,
"Brothers, we've got a job."
Everyone immediately stood up and gathered around.
Falcon said,
"Headquarters has issued an order to take down a small U.S. military outpost in Niger."
"From now on, I will be drafting the plan. Everyone, prepare your equipment. This time, we're taking them out directly!"
The eyes of the team members in the room lit up.
They stood in place, listening to Falcon's orders.
Falcon grabbed a tablet and pointed at the map on it, saying,
"We're starting the planning now. Listen carefully!"
Cheetah immediately straightened up and said,
"Go ahead, Brother Ying!"
"First, we need to be clear on the base's defenses."
Falcon pointed at the map and said,
"Although I've scouted it before, to be safe, we'll do it again. Tomorrow morning, I'll take two men and drive there disguised as backpackers for close-range covert reconnaissance. We'll verify their guard rotation times, radar range, where the armored vehicles are parked, and how many watchtowers there are."
"Next, the sniper. Occupy the high ground in advance. You're responsible for taking out the watchtowers and machine gun nests. Pluck out their eyes first."
The sniper nodded and replied,
"Yes, sir. Mission guaranteed."
Falcon continued,
"Then, the second group will launch a feint from the front to draw their fire and pull all their personnel to the main gate."
"The first group will breach the side wall with explosives and drive straight into the command room and radar station. Swift and decisive."
"Finally, blow everything up and retreat. Burn it all down."
Cheetah asked,
"Brother Ying, what about the armored vehicles?"
"Their armored vehicles can be handled with RPGs."
Falcon said indifferently,
"One shot per vehicle. Turn them directly into scrap metal."
Falcon said,
"The tentative plan is to move tomorrow after dark. If there are changes after my reconnaissance, I'll adjust in time. I'll notify the other squads to coordinate and support us."
"Now, everyone check your gear. AK-12s, sniper rifles, RPGs, grenades, body armor, night vision goggles—make sure everything is ready and checked."
"Yes, sir!"
Everyone whispered in unison.
Late the next night.
In the Niger desert, outside a small U.S. military outpost.
The night was as black as ink.
Falcon lay prone on a sand dune, wearing night vision goggles, staring at the small U.S. outpost ahead.
U.S. soldiers walked back and forth on the watchtowers. Two searchlights at the base entrance swept back and forth. Two armored vehicles were parked in the center of the courtyard.
Once the sniper was in position, he reported in a low voice,
"Brother Ying, target locked on the watchtower. Ready to fire at any time."
Falcon gripped his AK-12, finger on the trigger, then said into his headset,
"Commence operation."
No sooner had he spoken:
"Bang!"
The crack of a sniper rifle shattered the silence of the night.
The U.S. soldier on the watchtower fell.
Chaos instantly erupted within the base.
"Enem—"
The shout was cut short.
Falcon surged to his feet and let out a low growl:
"Go!"
The RPG was hoisted. A rocket, trailing a long plume of flame, streaked directly toward the perimeter wall of the U.S. base.
"Whoosh—Boom!!!"
In the deep night of the African desert, the firelight exploded with a roar.
