28: Chapter 28 Accompanying Ruoshui Back Home

When the "battle through the heavens" animation exploded in popularity, the entire internet was in an uproar. Animation fans relentlessly chased every update, which in turn caused the original novel's popularity to skyrocket several times over, leaving the author, Tudou, counting money until his hands were sore.

The few million dollars Tianxing Animation paid for the rights alone, after deducting A Certain Point's share, was enough to make him incredibly wealthy.

What drove people even crazier was that A Certain Point immediately issued another announcement: five new regulations that completely shook the online literature circle:

Abolishing Great God privileges, banning vote manipulation and cheating, authors gaining independent control over copyrights, high-quality works eligible for animation adaptation, and strict investigation of piracy. Most crucially, within a few days of the announcement, online pirated novels genuinely vanished without a trace!

This stunned everyone, whether it was the ordinary authors who remained loyal to A Certain Point or the Great Gods who had defected to Penguin with the founding team.

Although those Great Gods had received high buyout fees from Penguin, compared to the long-term gains from owning their copyrights outright with zero piracy, it was an absolute loss. However, since the contracts were signed, it was difficult for them to return to A Certain Point.

The founding team panicked even more. Without ordinary authors willing to follow them, their new website was completely unviable.

If there was no piracy, ordinary authors' income could increase several times over; who would bother going to their site?

While the online literature world was in turmoil, Chen Mo drove his Rolls-Royce Cullinan, taking Nalan Ruoshui back to her hometown.

The "battle through the heavens" animation was completely finished. Chen Mo established Tianxing Animation Company, specially assigning a team to handle impression drawings and bug finding. Nalan Ruoshui only needed to manage one-click production and loophole modification, finally allowing her to catch her breath.

Taking advantage of the few days left before leaving school, and coupled with recently acquiring Master-level Medical Skills, Chen Mo planned to personally cure Nalan Ruoshui's mother's illness to resolve her worries.

Nalan Ruoshui's hometown was not far from Modu; it was only half a day's drive.

The car stopped in front of an old residential building. Nalans Father and Nalans Mother were already waiting downstairs. As soon as she saw her daughter, the mother's eyes immediately turned red, and she hugged her tightly:

"Ruoshui, you've suffered!"

If it weren't for her illness, her daughter should have been enjoying life at university, not having to work while attending school and rarely getting to come home even during holidays.

Nalans Father quickly walked up to Chen Mo and warmly extended his hand:

"You must be CEO Chen? Thank you so much for making this special trip!"

Chen Mo smiled and handed over gifts, "Hello, Uncle and Auntie. I am Chen Mo. It's my pleasure."

He observed the two elders. Nalans Father had a refined demeanor, clearly having been a handsome young man in his youth. The mother had delicate features and must have been beautiful when young—no wonder she could give birth to a daughter like Nalan Ruoshui.

Following Chen Mo during this period, Nalan Ruoshui's diet improved, and her malnutrition was completely resolved. Her looks were catching up to Ling Jing, and combined with that unique scholarly air, she possessed a gentleness that surpassed Ling Jing's.

Nalans Mother looked at Chen Mo, her eyes full of gratitude, yet tinged with difficulty: "CEO Chen, you already pay Ruoshui such a high salary; we really cannot trouble you further..."

She knew she suffered from uremia, which would cost hundreds of thousands to cure. The over one hundred thousand her daughter had sent home previously made her suspect her daughter had done something wrong, until she saw the "battle through the heavens" animation her daughter helped produce, only then did she finally relax.

Having Chen Mo come this time was also to see her daughter's boss in person, confirming he wasn't a bad person. But for something as big as curing the illness, she truly felt too embarrassed to ask.

Just as Chen Mo was about to explain that he was here to treat the illness personally, not to spend money, an arrogant voice suddenly came from outside the door:

"I wondered why Ruoshui wasn't coming home for the break; turns out she was hooking up with a rich man in Modu!"

Everyone turned to see a man with slicked-back hair standing at the doorway, hands on his hips, his eyes fixed on Chen Mo with hostility.

Chen Mo frowned, "Who are you? Entering someone's home without knocking is very rude, isn't it?"

If it weren't for being in front of Nalan Ruoshui's parents, he wouldn't want to be too ostentatious, nor was he accompanied by Old Xu. Such a petty hoodlum was unqualified to speak before him.

"Rudeness? You are worthy of talking to me about manners?"

The man sneered, sizing up Chen Mo, "Kid, where did you crawl out from? Just because you drive a Rolls-Royce do you think you're amazing? This isn't Modu!"

He was intensely jealous. Chen Mo was better looking than him and could afford a luxury car, appearing much richer. But this was his territory; even someone from Modu had to bow down to him.

Nalan Ruoshui quickly tugged at Chen Mo's sleeve and explained in a low voice, "His name is Liu Hu. He's my high school classmate and kept pestering me when we were in school. When he found out my mom was sick, he offered to pay for the treatment on the condition that I become his girlfriend. He also frequently sends his lackeys to watch my building. His family has some money and connections locally."

Now that she knew Chen Mo was the boss of Tianxing Technology, she wasn't afraid of this minor local bully.

Chen Mo nodded in understanding. No wonder he was so arrogant; it turned out he had a little money and connections—a local bully.

He sneered, "So, you think you're quite the big shot?"

As soon as the words fell, Chen Mo suddenly moved.

Nalan Ruoshui and her parents only saw a blur. Liu Hu was kicked out of the doorway like a rag doll by Chen Mo's foot, crashing heavily into the hallway, unable to get up for a long time.

Nalans Father was so scared his face turned pale. He quickly grabbed Chen Mo, "CEO Chen, this... this won't cause any trouble, will it?"

This usually polite young man was incredibly ruthless in his strike!

"Don't worry, Uncle. I have control over it," Chen Mo said with a smile. "At most, it's just some superficial injuries, not even considered minor injuries."

He had used internal force. On the surface, Liu Hu looked fine, but in reality, Liu Hu would have no detectable issues for a month, and within half a year, he would completely lose his male function. By then, everyone would just assume it was due to excessive indulgence, and no one would ever suspect Chen Mo.

This small matter wasn't worth breaking the law over; teaching the other party a lesson was enough.

Nalans Father breathed a sigh of relief, but his gaze toward Chen Mo changed.

This CEO Chen looked refined and scholarly, but who knew he could fight so well? He truly wasn't simple!

But before they could recover, footsteps sounded from the hallway. Two people in police uniforms walked up to Liu Hu, checked his injuries, and then quickly walked toward Chen Mo. One of them even took out handcuffs:

"Someone reported you for intentional assault. You need to come down to the station with us!"

Chen Mo's eyes narrowed. He had sensed two people behind Liu Hu long ago; he hadn't expected them to be police officers.

It seemed Liu Hu had colluded with them long ago, waiting for him to make a move so they could take him to the station and control him.

"No need for handcuffs. I'll go with you; I won't run," Chen Mo said nonchalantly.

He could have resisted arrest or even exposed the scheme of these two police officers, but in that case, they could simply claim they were passing by coincidentally, and he couldn't touch them officially. Since a trap had been set, he wanted to see what other tricks lay behind it.
