172: Chapter 172 The Agreement

Magic City · Greentown Rose Garden Manor.

On a rattan chair on the terrace, Chen Mo leaned back, holding an aviation magazine in his hand.

Su Yingxue had gone to the charity Foundation to work, so he was the only one idle in the manor now.

Since signing the C919 joint research and development project with COMAC, Zhang Kai and the laboratory team had been incredibly busy. Chen Mo, however, remained leisurely, only occasionally checking on the project's progress and spending the rest of his time resting at the manor.

He had always been this way; once he handed things over to them, he wouldn't interfere too much.

Just then, the door to the manor's main building was gently pushed open, and a slender figure walked in quickly. She wore a simple cream-colored knit dress, her long hair loosely pinned up to reveal her slender neck. Her face bore a hint of travel fatigue, yet it couldn't hide her cool and exquisite features. It was Liu Yifei, who had just returned from a busy work trip in the United States.

After entering, she walked straight toward the terrace.

"Chen Mo."

Liu Yifei walked to the rattan chair and softly called out to Chen Mo, who was lying there.

"I'm back. I've been busy in the US for nearly a month; I'm exhausted."

Chen Mo put down the magazine, looked up at her, and said with a smile:

"You're back? It's been a long journey. Sit down and rest for a while, have some hot tea to warm up."

Liu Yifei sat down on the adjacent rattan chair, and a servant hurried over with warm tea.

Liu Yifei took it gently and said in a slightly aggrieved tone:

"I heard that you took Nalan Ruoshui to Daocheng Yading, accompanied Su Yingxue to Xishuangbanna, and even went to Jinan for a concert..."

At this point, she looked at Chen Mo, a faint sense of grievance in her eyes as she said:

"I was working overtime every day abroad, barely even getting a good night's sleep. But you, while I was away, you took them everywhere to play and didn't even remember me."

Seeing her like this, Chen Mo couldn't help but laugh. He gently tapped her forehead with his fingertip and said helplessly:

"Silly girl, you were busy with work in the US then, and you couldn't even manage to pick up the phone most days. I couldn't exactly call you back from America to hang out with us, could I?"

Liu Yifei gave a soft huff, but she wasn't truly angry. She just reached out and lightly punched Chen Mo's arm, acting spoiled:

"I don't care, I'm just envious. You could accompany them on trips, while I was the only one busy abroad. I want to go out and play with you too; I don't want to be busy with work all the time."

Looking at the grievance in her eyes, Chen Mo's heart softened instantly.

He knew that while Liu Yifei seemed cool and independent, she actually cared a lot about companionship. She had indeed worked hard abroad during this time, being constantly on the move. Now that she was back, she just wanted a bit more company and to go out and relax with him. He naturally wouldn't refuse such a request.

He gently patted Liu Yifei's hand and consoled her:

"Alright, don't feel bad. It was my lack of consideration not to wait for you to return before taking them out."

Hearing this, Liu Yifei asked softly:

"Then... then are you going to compensate me? Take me out for a trip too, okay?"

She looked at Chen Mo with expectant eyes.

Seeing her expression, Chen Mo smiled and nodded:

"Of course I'll compensate you. Rest well for a few days first, and in a few days, I'll take you to Yunnan."

"Yunnan?"

A look of pleasant surprise appeared on Liu Yifei's face as she followed up eagerly:

"Where in Yunnan? I've heard it's beautiful there and have always wanted to go, but never had the chance."

"Mhm, I'll take you to the Lijiang Old Town."

Chen Mo said slowly:

"There are green tiles and white walls, small bridges over flowing water, and at night, the lights are dim and beautiful. It's very atmospheric and perfect for a slow stroll;

Then I'll take you to Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. Standing at the peak, you can see snow everywhere—it's spectacular, and we can take lots of beautiful photos;

There's also Cangshan and Erhai. We can wander slowly along Erhai Lake, feel the sea breeze, watch the sunset, and just relax without thinking about anything."

Liu Yifei's eyes lit up as she listened, and she nodded gently. She naturally loved traveling, and she wanted to see and walk through such beautiful places. She said to Chen Mo:

"Okay! Okay!

I've wanted to go to the Lijiang Old Town and Jade Dragon Snow Mountain for a long time, and Cangshan and Erhai too. I've always heard people say they're incredibly beautiful.

Then it's a deal, no taking it back, okay?

Once I've rested up, you'll take me. Just the two of us, okay?"

Chen Mo reached out and ruffled her hair, nodding in response:

"Okay, no taking it back. Just the two of us. When you're free, we'll set off. I'll be with you the whole time, okay?"

"Great!"

Liu Yifei said with a smile.

Chen Mo looked at the servants standing nearby and waved his hand, dismissing them.

Then he said to Liu Yifei:

"Then, before we go to Yunnan, shouldn't you pay the travel fee?"

Hearing Chen Mo's words, Liu Yifei looked at him blankly and asked foolishly:

"What travel fee?"

Chen Mo gave a wicked grin, stood up, and picked up the bewildered Liu Yifei from the rattan chair, striding toward the bedroom.

As the saying goes, within the hibiscus curtains and upon the mandarin duck pillows, the two lovers' affection lingers as the night begins its long stretch.
