17: Chapter 17 Opening Ceremony Turmoil
The opening ceremony for the Summer Season of "League of Heroes" S2 was incredibly grand, matching the specifications of the Global Finals.
Wu Dongju put a lot of effort into this event. Not only did she invite top-tier singers like Jay Chou, JJ Lin, and Yisa Yu, but she also brought along Bai Fengjiu, the spokesperson she had signed, and even forcibly dragged Chen Mo over from the company.
Chen Mo was never interested in these celebrities. With his current status, combined with his master-level acting and singing skills, crushing everyone present would be as easy as playing a game.
He only brought a bodyguard named Old Xu and wandered around the stadium casually. Dressed in casual clothes, he looked no different from an ordinary rich second generation, but the calm in his eyes was something most people couldn't fake.
The live stream room had already exploded. Celebrity fans flooded in upon hearing the news, and the barrage of bullet comments was even livelier than the match itself:
"Holy crap! Jay Chou actually came! Is Tianxing Technology that influential?"
"Bai Fengjiu is so beautiful! They chose the perfect spokesperson!"
"Who is that handsome guy wandering around? He looks so familiar, isn't that Mr. Chen from Tianxing Technology?"
In a separate lounge backstage, Wu Dongju stood with her hands on her hips, looking proudly at Chen Mo:
"How about it? Is the opening ceremony I organized grand enough?"
She was now completely convinced of Chen Mo's capability, otherwise, she wouldn't have turned a blind eye to the other women around him. However, she was deeply dissatisfied with Chen Mo's low profile, which completely clashed with her fiery personality.
"It's quite good."
Chen Mo nodded, his tone sincere.
He genuinely thought it was well-executed, but given his nature, he preferred achieving things in the simplest way possible, saving effort and money.
"Hmph, you're just placating me!"
Wu Dongju snorted lightly, pouting her lips high.
She was already holding a grudge. She knew Chen Mo had been getting close to Bai Fengjiu recently—that was the spokesperson she personally selected. She didn't know when the two had hooked up.
Although Wu Xue managed Fetion, her background was ordinary, and she was two years older than Wu Dongju, so she wasn't a threat. But Bai Fengjiu was young and beautiful, constantly clinging to Chen Mo, which annoyed her just thinking about it.
Recently, the time Chen Mo spent with Bai Fengjiu was clearly more than the time he spent with her or Wu Xue, which made her feel very uncomfortable. But she didn't dare say any of these things in front of Chen Mo.
"When did I placate you?"
Chen Mo looked helpless.
His mental age was already over thirty; how could he constantly spout sweet talk like young men?
The reason he liked spending time with Bai Fengjiu was simply because that girl was naive and a foodie. Taking her out to play everywhere was easy and required no deep thought.
Unfortunately, after Bai Fengjiu became famous, the two met less often and couldn't wander around as freely as before.
Chen Mo had plenty of ways to deal with Wu Dongju.
He reached out, pulled her directly into his embrace, and lowered his head!
Wu Dongju gasped, her cheeks instantly turning crimson. She tried to push him away but didn't use much force!
The atmosphere in the lounge instantly became ambiguous.
This was backstage, after all; they couldn't go too far. But even so, it was enough to make the thin-skinned Wu Dongju blush and her heart race.
She was only in her early twenties and couldn't handle this kind of stimulation. It was completely different from the charming and alluring woman Chen Mo remembered from his past life.
Just then, footsteps sounded outside the door, quickly stopping at the entrance, followed by an argument:
"I'm sorry, you can't enter here!"
It was Old Xu's voice.
"On what grounds can't I enter?"
An arrogant male voice rang out.
"The Wu Family has sunk so low as to employ a businessman's bodyguard?"
"This is an order. You bear the consequences."
Old Xu's tone didn't waver in the slightest.
Chen Mo lowered his head and shot Wu Dongju a look. Since his rebirth, he had only had conflicts in the business world and hadn't offended anyone. These people outside must be trouble brought by Wu Dongju.
However, with Old Xu present, he wasn't worried at all. He continued to hold Wu Dongju, not planning to go out immediately.
Ten minutes later, the two smoothed their clothes before pushing the door open.
A group of people who looked like second-generation heirs stood outside, all dressed stylishly with arrogant eyes. Chen Mo actually recognized one of them.
Wang Gongzi from Wanda, who was also the owner of a certain team in "League of Heroes." In his previous life, he was too high-profile online, making him hard not to recognize.
However, Wang Gongzi currently looked like a lackey. The leader was a young man with dyed yellow hair, glaring angrily at Chen Mo, clearly growing impatient waiting.
"Kid, you are Chen Mo from Tianxing Technology?"
The yellow-haired man sized Chen Mo up, his tone extremely arrogant.
He had already investigated Chen Mo: an ordinary person with no background, who only rose by latching onto the Wu Family—just a pretty boy living off women. He didn't take him seriously at all.
The other second-generation heirs with him chimed in, their eyes full of jealousy:
Why did Chen Mo have money, beautiful women, and such a huge career at such a young age, while they could only be profligate sons?
Chen Mo completely ignored the yellow-haired man and turned to ask Wu Dongju:
"Do you know him?"
"Zhang Lei, from the Zhang Family. We lived in the same compound before."
Wu Dongju said casually, a hint of disgust flashing in her eyes.
Zhang Lei had pursued her in high school. Later, when he didn't get into a good university, his family sent him abroad. She hadn't expected him to start pestering her again as soon as he returned to the country.
"How does the Zhang Family compare to your Wu Family?"
Chen Mo asked again.
"They were similar before, but now that Old Master Zhang is gone, they've long since declined."
Wu Dongju said dismissively.
Chen Mo understood immediately. So, this was a second-generation heir from a declining family who dared to provoke him.
He couldn't be bothered to argue personally. He turned and said to Old Xu:
"Can you handle this small matter?"
"No problem, Mr. Chen."
Old Xu nodded, took out a specially made phone, dialed a number, reported Zhang Lei's and the Zhang Family's names, and immediately hung up.
Zhang Lei was both angry and scared. He was angry because Chen Mo and Wu Dongju completely disregarded him, saying the Zhang Family was declining right in front of him—it was a direct slap in the face.
He was scared because Chen Mo dared to be so arrogant, perhaps possessing some background he didn't know about.
Although he was a wastrel, he wasn't stupid. He knew someone of Chen Mo's status wouldn't joke about such things casually.
In less than five minutes, Zhang Lei's phone rang; it was his father calling.
His heart sank. He hurried to the side and answered cautiously:
"Dad, what's wrong?"
The other second-generation heirs muttered among themselves upon seeing this:
Did Chen Mo really have some other background?
No matter how much the Zhang Family had declined, it wasn't something a bodyguard could handle with just one phone call.
But the next second, they were stunned by what they saw.
Zhang Lei only listened to a few sentences, his face instantly turning pale. After hanging up, he struggled with his expression for a long time before finally sighing and walking honestly in front of Chen Mo, bowing 90 degrees:
"I apologize, Mr. Chen. It was my ignorance that offended you. Please be magnanimous and forgive me this once!"
His posture suggested that if Chen Mo didn't forgive him, he wouldn't get up.
The other second-generation heirs exchanged glances. Was this the arrogant Young Master Zhang they knew?
They didn't know that Zhang Lei's father had only said one sentence on the phone:
"Apologize to Mr. Chen immediately. You must make him forgive you, or the Zhang Family won't have you as a son anymore!"
Zhang Lei knew clearly that without the Zhang Family, he was nothing. If it weren't for fear of losing too much face, he would have knelt down immediately.
Chen Mo looked at him, his face devoid of emotion. He neither said he forgave nor that he didn't.
In his eyes, Zhang Lei wasn't even worth getting angry over; he didn't even qualify to be taken seriously.
He didn't linger. He turned and left, glancing at Wang Gongzi as he passed by.
In his previous life, Wang Gongzi had made some contributions to the esports industry, and the IG club had no notorious scandals like match-fixing—which Chen Mo could absolutely not tolerate.
As for other negative points, they had nothing to do with him, and he couldn't be bothered to care.
Wang Gongzi felt a jolt when Chen Mo looked at him and subconsciously straightened his back. He only let out a sigh of relief after Chen Mo was long gone.
This minor disturbance quickly spread throughout the backstage area. Those second and third-generation heirs who originally had ulterior motives regarding Tianxing Technology all reined in their thoughts.
They finally understood: Chen Mo wasn't just a kept man relying on the Wu Family. His background was unfathomable, and no one dared to provoke him easily anymore.
