126: Chapter 126 Assassination

Inside the restroom at the airshow venue.

Chen Mo had just straightened his clothes and was about to open the door to leave when he heard footsteps and hushed voices outside.

He paused and quietly stood behind the door.

"Chen Mo must disappear completely this time; he's blocking too many of our paths."

"If the money is enough, I'll clean him up for you."

"Let me be clear: if it succeeds, you'll get plenty of money. But if you're caught by the Dragon Country authorities, you are not allowed to name us."

Chen Mo narrowed his eyes.

He heard the voice very clearly; it had a slight American accent—it was Jason.

"Mr. Jason, I'm trusting you this one last time."

Old Jia's voice followed:

"The shell company already promised me the technology; don't screw me over again."

"Don't worry, I've already brought the man."

Jason clapped his hands, and a black man over 1.9 meters tall walked over. He was heavily muscled with a sinister gaze, clearly a mercenary who had spent years doing dirty work.

"This is the ace I brought. The job will be clean and efficient."

Jason whispered.

Old Jia glanced at the black man and said:

"Good. Then do it now. There are many people at the venue, so it's the perfect time to strike amidst the chaos."

"Let's go."

The footsteps quickly moved away from the restroom.

Chen Mo slowly pushed open the restroom door, his eyes filled with coldness.

Jason and Old Jia actually dared to hire a killer directly at the airshow. Did they really think he was unprepared?

Without making a sound, he followed behind them. Relying on his familiarity with the venue, he returned to his booth ahead of time.

Soon, the black man gave a signal, and five subordinates immediately rushed out, heading straight for Chen Mo's booth.

"Move aside, we want to see the planes!"

Several people roughly pushed through the crowd, pretending to look at the exhibits while their hands quietly reached for daggers hidden in their coats.

Wu Dongju was busy receiving clients. Seeing these people approaching with ill intent, her expression changed and she shouted:

"What are you doing?"

The men exchanged glances and suddenly drew their daggers, rushing toward Chen Mo in the center of the booth!

"President Chen!"

Exclamations erupted from the surroundings.

Chen Mo was prepared. He stepped to the side, easily dodging the first blade.

He possessed Grandmaster-level Combat Skills. To him, these few minor characters were no different from children.

"Looking for death."

Chen Mo growled softly, raising his hand to smash a fist into the wrist of the man in front. The dagger flew out of his hand.

Another man nearby swung his blade. Chen Mo sidestepped, grabbed his arm, and twisted hard.

*Crack!*

"Ah—!"

A scream instantly rang out.

Seeing this, the black mercenary charged in person, throwing a punch toward Chen Mo's face.

Chen Mo didn't dodge. He turned his body to generate power and slammed into him with a heavy shoulder bash.

The black man lost his balance and staggered backward, happening to collide with the flying dagger.

*Puchi—*

The dagger stabbed straight into his kidney.

The black man's face turned pale instantly. He clutched his kidney and inhaled sharply, contributing his part to global warming.

The remaining four subordinates panicked and rushed forward to support him:

"Boss!"

"Go! Get out of here!"

They didn't dare stay to fight. They covered the dagger in the black man's kidney with a jacket and hurriedly pushed their way out.

But blood still dripped down his clothes, leaving a trail of glaring red spots on the ground.

The official security guards nearby saw this and immediately shouted:

"Chase them!"

A squad of security guards immediately gave chase.

Chen Mo patted his clothes and followed behind as if nothing had happened.

Once they reached a secluded corner of the venue, the mercenaries still tried to resist.

Chen Mo stepped forward. With a few swift and clean moves, he took them all down in no time, without even a scream escaping.

He knelt down, looking at the shivering black man, his voice icy:

"Go back and tell Jason and Old Jia: if they dare provoke me again, it won't be as simple as an injury next time."

The black man trembled in pain.

"Get lost."

The men felt as if they had been granted a divine reprieve and scrambled away.

Chen Mo adjusted his collar and turned to walk back, just in time to bump into the pursuing security guards.

"President Chen, are you alright? Those people just now..."

Chen Mo shook his head calmly:

"I'm fine. Just a few troublemakers; they've already run off."

He didn't want to make a big scene to avoid the authorities assigning extra guards to watch him, which would interfere with his later plans.

One must remember he owned a military company abroad. How could he just let an assassination attempt slide? The animals in Africa would surely love them!

The security guard said skeptically:

"Are you sure you don't need us to investigate?"

"No need. It's a small matter; don't let it affect the exhibition."

After saying that, Chen Mo turned and went back to his company's booth.

At the booth, Wu Dongju was still looking nervous. Seeing Chen Mo return, she immediately rushed over:

"Chen Mo, you scared me to death just now! Who were those people?"

"It's nothing, just some people looking for trouble. It's been handled."

Chen Mo spoke in a calm tone, as if he had just chased away a few petty thieves.

Not far away, Old Jia was still pretending nothing was wrong, bragging in front of his own booth, but he kept glancing toward Chen Mo with panicked eyes.

Chen Mo glanced at him, a cold smile curling at the corner of his mouth.

The game has only just begun.

The second day of the airshow.

Jason's group had suffered a loss, but they hadn't given up at all.

They had hidden a sniper on the hill opposite the airshow early on. A telescope was fixed on the exhibition exit, waiting for the order to fire.

Inside the airshow, several experts had also infiltrated. Each was a Taekwondo black belt, capable of fighting and charging.

After yesterday's failure, they were truly going for the kill this time.

Jason didn't dare show his face and was directing from behind the scenes, leaving only Old Jia to wander around in front.

The Imperial Court also knew this time was unusual, so security was several times higher than usual. But even with a hundred precautions, a hidden blade is hard to guard against.

Chen Mo had long noticed something was wrong. He didn't say much to Wu Dongju, only telling her to focus on receiving clients and doing the livestream.

"Just focus on the promotion; don't worry about anything else."

"But you..."

Wu Dongju was a bit worried.

"I know what I'm doing."

Chen Mo said with a smile.
