29: Chapter 29 Golden Needle Saves Mother
Chen Mo's calm and unflustered demeanor made the two police officers apprehensive, and they didn't insist on handcuffing him.
Chen Mo followed them into the police car. Nalan Ruoshui, unable to rest easy, also got in. Nalans Mother and Nalans Father wanted to come along, but Chen Mo stopped them.
"Uncle, Auntie, don't worry. It's a small matter, no need for you to make the trip."
Liu Hu, having finally managed to get up from the ground, clutching his stomach, also got into the car, his face filled with venomous resentment.
In less than ten minutes, the car arrived at the police station. Chen Mo and Nalan Ruoshui were directly locked in two separate rooms, and their phones were confiscated.
Chen Mo sat in the room for two hours without seeing a single person. Fortunately, his keen perception told him Nalan Ruoshui was safe on her end, so he waited patiently.
Finally, the two officers pushed the door open and slammed an injury assessment report onto the table with a 'smack'.
"Liu Hu's injury is a first-degree minor injury. The maximum sentence is three years. So, how do you want to resolve this?"
"First-degree minor injury?"
Chen Mo raised an eyebrow. He knew perfectly well that he had only used hidden force in that kick. It looked severe on the surface, but in reality, it didn't even cause superficial skin damage. This was clearly a fabricated report made in collusion.
"Cut the nonsense. Either settle or go to jail!"
The officer urged impatiently.
"What does he want for a settlement?"
Chen Mo asked.
Soon, Liu Hu walked in, wrapped in thick bandages and wearing a pained expression. He spoke with a twisted mouth:
"S-s-settlement is possible. P-p-pay two million, and d-d-don't pester Ruoshui anymore in the future!"
Chen Mo nodded without hesitation:
"No problem."
His straightforward attitude stunned Liu Hu and the two officers. They inwardly cursed their regret, thinking they should have asked for more.
But fearing complications, they quickly had Chen Mo make the transfer and gave him back his phone.
After the transfer was complete, the three turned to leave. Chen Mo suddenly spoke up:
"Wait. Aren't you going to give me a case closure certificate?"
"Private settlement, no need for a certificate!"
One officer said.
"That won't do. What if you try to extort me again later?"
Chen Mo insisted.
"If there's no certificate, the settlement is off. I'd rather go to jail."
The other officer glared at him fiercely, muttering curses as he wrote out a case closure certificate. He had Chen Mo sign it, and he and Liu Hu signed as well, already planning to destroy the certificate later.
Looking at the certificate in his hand, a smile curled at the corner of Chen Mo's mouth. He picked up his phone and directly dialed Old Xu's number:
"I'm at XX police station. Someone set me up and extorted a million from me. They also fabricated a fake minor injury report. Send someone over to handle it, and bring a professional forensic doctor to re-examine the injuries."
After hanging up, the two officers finally realized something was wrong. Their expressions changed drastically:
"What are you trying to do?"
As they spoke, they rushed forward to snatch the certificate.
Chen Mo swept his foot out. The two were directly kicked flying, crashing right into Liu Hu at the door. The three of them tumbled into a heap.
Officers outside heard the commotion and immediately rushed in, surrounding Chen Mo. Their hands rested on the batons at their waists. The tension was palpable.
Chen Mo, however, paid no mind and sat back down in the chair.
In less than a minute, a middle-aged man in a police uniform, sweating profusely, ran in. It was the station chief. He rushed up to Chen Mo and asked respectfully:
"Excuse me, are you Mr. Chen Mo?"
The officers present were instantly dumbfounded. It was clear they had kicked an iron plate!
Their gazes towards the two offending officers and Liu Hu were full of schadenfreude.
They had long known these two targeted wealthy out-of-towners, but no one dared to intervene. They never expected them to take such a big fall this time.
Chen Mo handed the case closure certificate and the transfer record from his phone to the station chief. After reading them, the chief's face turned as black as a pot bottom. He inwardly cursed Liu Hu and the two officers to hell:
These three idiots! Of all people to extort, they had to pick someone who could alarm the police headquarters in the capital!
Old Xu, to save trouble, had directly had headquarters make the call, nearly scaring the chief out of his wits.
By the time they left the police station, it was already dark. Chen Mo had Nalan Ruoshui go home first and found a hotel for himself.
He didn't need to worry about the fate of Liu Hu and those two officers. The police station would naturally provide a satisfactory outcome.
Early the next morning, Chen Mo went to Nalan Ruoshui's home. The attitude of Nalans Mother and Nalans Father was ten times more enthusiastic than before, their eyes filled with awe and respect.
They had heard last night that Liu Hu and the two officers had been directly arrested. The depth of Chen Mo's connections was beyond anything they could imagine.
"Mr. Chen, we've truly troubled you. And you suffered injustice because of our family's affairs," Nalans Mother said gratefully.
"Auntie, you're too kind. It was just a small effort," Chen Mo smiled and got straight to the point.
"I came today to treat your illness."
"Treat her illness?"
Nalans Father was taken aback and quickly said,
"Mr. Chen, we appreciate your kindness, but Yi Yi's mother has nephritis. The doctors said only a kidney transplant can cure it. You..."
He didn't finish, but the meaning was clear: he didn't believe Chen Mo could cure it.
"Uncle, I can treat it with acupuncture. No kidney transplant needed," Chen Mo said.
"Acupuncture?"
Nalans Father was even more skeptical. Acupuncture could at most provide some relief; how could it possibly cure nephritis?
Chen Mo didn't waste words. With a slight flick of his wrist, a long golden needle suddenly appeared between his fingers. Before anyone could react, the needle had already precisely pierced Nalans Father's shoulder.
"Ah!"
Nalans Mother and Nalan Ruoshui exclaimed simultaneously, looking at Nalans Father with tense expressions.
"I... I can't move!"
Nalans Father said, his face pale with panic.
Chen Mo lightly swept his palm in front of him. The golden needle instantly returned to his hand, and Nalans Father immediately regained his ability to move.
He stared blankly at Chen Mo, muttering to himself:
"Th-this is Golden Needle Acupoint Sealing? The martial arts from novels... they're actually real..."
Nalans Mother was also stunned, her gaze towards Chen Mo filled with shock.
Only Nalan Ruoshui remained relatively calm. She had already witnessed Chen Mo's miraculous methods.
"Do you believe me now?"
Chen Mo asked.
"We believe! Of course we believe!"
Nalans Father nodded repeatedly.
Chen Mo had Nalans Mother lie down on the bed. With a flick of his wrist, eight golden needles appeared between his fingers. He swiftly, accurately, and decisively inserted them into the acupoints on her body. His movements were fluid and seamless. The procedure was completed in less than five minutes.
"Th-this... it's done?"
Nalans Father looked at the golden needles on his wife's body, his face full of disbelief.
"One more session tomorrow and the day after. After that, proper recuperation will suffice," Chen Mo said casually as he removed the needles.
If he didn't possess both master-level medical skills and combat skills simultaneously, even someone with the highest medical expertise couldn't achieve this so effortlessly.
For the next two days, Chen Mo came daily to perform acupuncture on Nalans Mother. Her condition visibly improved. Her complexion became rosier, her spirits lifted, and the previous sense of fatigue completely disappeared.
Chen Mo also prescribed a recuperative formula and repeatedly instructed Nalans Mother and Nalans Father:
"Don't tell anyone about the treatment."
"Mr. Chen, rest assured, we absolutely won't say a word!"
Nalans Father promptly assured him. They understood clearly that Chen Mo's methods were too unbelievable. Spreading the word would only bring trouble, especially since Chen Mo was their family's great benefactor.
Chen Mo nodded with satisfaction. This was the effect he wanted. Combining kindness with authority ensured the secret wouldn't leak.
After handling matters here, Chen Mo took Nalan Ruoshui back to Modu.
As the car neared the Tomson Riviera duplex villa, Nalan Ruoshui suddenly said softly:
"Mo Ge, I don't want to go back tonight."
"Where do you want to go then?"
Chen Mo asked offhandedly.
"Let's go to a hotel," Nalan Ruoshui's voice was very light.
Chen Mo glanced at her. If he didn't know her better, he'd have thought he'd met an experienced player.
