11: Howling in the middle of the night

The river was right there, so it would be a waste not to use such a good auxiliary tool.

After briefly rinsing the Roe deer in the river, washing off most of its blood, Lin Tianwei placed it on a clean patch of ground.

Following the same method, all three prey were cleaned.

Although it was impossible to completely wash away the scent of blood, it greatly reduced the chance of exposure.

After finishing the processing, Lin Tianwei took his prey and headed into the forest.

If there was ready-made food, he wouldn't need to waste energy hunting.

After walking for about half an hour, Lin Tianwei stopped, sensing that the presence of predators in the vicinity had lessened.

The area was overgrown with weeds, but it was very suitable for storing food.

He gathered some weeds and found some stones for camouflage.

Just by looking with the naked eye, it would be impossible to discover the food hidden here.

Without much fuss, Lin Tianwei simply lay down beside his food and rested.

The nearby area had already been marked by him, so no oblivious animal would come knocking, seeking its own demise.

He closed his eyes and completely drifted into slumber.

Only his ears, twitching occasionally, indicated that Lin Tianwei was not entirely asleep.

With the slightest rustle, he would instantly awaken, ready to enter combat at any moment.

Sleeping soundly in the wild?

Then you might truly be dead!

——

"Awoo~" "Awoo~" "Awoo~"

...A series of wolf howls rose and fell, disturbing the entire forest.

Undoubtedly, Lin Tianwei was also startled awake.

Opening his eyes and looking in the direction of the wolf howls, Lin Tianwei's mind was filled with thoughts.

This was a pack of mutated wolves; just thinking about how terrifying their combat power would be was enough.

Most importantly, Lin Tianwei also heard a familiar sound within these wolf howls.

It was the Black Fiend who had fled in disarray back then.

Even with one eye blinded, with the assistance of the wolf pack, the Black Fiend was definitely a threat Lin Tianwei could not ignore.

Thinking of this, Lin Tianwei instantly lost all sleepiness.

He felt that he might have been a bit too optimistic.

This forest, full of unknowns, was actually not safe for him.

After a moment of hesitation, Lin Tianwei chose to decompose the two low-grade Talents he didn't immediately need.

Adding the fifteen Talent Shards obtained from hunting prey earlier, he could at least randomly synthesize two more low-grade Talents.

The reason there were only so few Talent Shards was that Lin Tianwei discovered that repeatedly killing the same type of creature resulted in a diminishing return of Talent Shards.

And this diminishing return was quite significant.

Making him, a Silver Fish killer, almost unable to obtain Talent Shards from Silver Fish anymore.

Taking a deep breath, Lin Tianwei inwardly lamented that he still had too little time.

Being unable to develop quickly was why he was so passive.

"Ding, the Host has chosen to decompose two low-grade Talents, gaining ten Talent Shards."

"Ding, congratulations to the Host for synthesizing ten Talent Shards and obtaining the Talent: Claws (Low-grade)."

Claws (Low-grade): A low-grade Talent that slightly increases the sharpness of Claws.

"Ding, congratulations to the Host for synthesizing ten Talent Shards and obtaining the Talent: Color Camouflage (Low-grade)."

Color Camouflage (Low-grade): A low-grade Talent that grants the ability to simply change one's skin color and blend into the environment.

"Ding, please confirm whether the Host wishes to use the newly acquired Talents."

Seeing the system's prompt, Lin Tianwei fell into hesitation.

Both of these Talents were good, definitely useful.

However, useful did not mean effective.

What he needed now were Talents that could enhance his own strength.

Color Camouflage?

Not to mention that he didn't need such a useless Talent for acting like a quail.

Under the terrifying sense of smell of a wolf pack, Color Camouflage would merely be a useless Talent.

Without hesitation, Lin Tianwei chose to decompose Color Camouflage, using the ten Talent Shards he had once again accumulated to synthesize a random low-grade Talent.

"Ding, congratulations to the Host for synthesizing ten Talent Shards and obtaining the Talent: Endurance (Low-grade)."

"Ding, please confirm whether the Host wishes to use this Talent."

Endurance (Low-grade): A low-grade Talent that allows the Host's body to become more enduring.

Seeing the newly acquired Talent, Lin Tianwei felt a bit speechless.

He felt as if the system was mocking him for not being enduring enough.

Of course, this was just a joke.

The system wouldn't have such a perverse sense of humor.

This Talent definitely did not increase Lin Tianwei's ability for sustained thrusts.

Instead, it would increase Lin Tianwei's ability for sustained combat.

As is well known, the Siberian Tiger has plenty of explosive power, but its Endurance is lacking.

Prolonged running or fighting can easily lead to a state of exhaustion.

However, this does not mean that the Siberian Tiger is weak.

After all, creatures that can force a Siberian Tiger into a protracted battle are virtually nonexistent.

They only need the ability to kill with one strike, not to fight prolonged battles.

Without hesitation, Lin Tianwei chose to directly use these two Talents.

The application of Talents takes some time, and there might even be temporary side effects that require patience to adapt to.

Keeping them as trump cards?

That's an utterly foolish idea.

Turning them into his combat power as quickly as possible was the best choice.

Feeling a warm current begin to invade his body, Lin Tianwei lay down again.

During the Talent's activation process, it was best to remain still to avoid injuring his body.

——

"Awoo~"

The wolf howls lasted all night, only ceasing in the latter half of the night.

This indicated that the battle had reached its end.

In the distance.

The Black Fiend, with its single eye, ferociously stared at the gray wolves surrounding him.

Although they were not large, generally only half the size of the Black Fiend.

They were fearless, launching a frenzied attack on the Black Fiend.

Coupled with losing one eye, the Black Fiend's victory was incredibly difficult.

But in the end, he still won.

Upon closer inspection, he was currently stepping on a large gray wolf that was barely breathing.

This black giant wolf was the leader of these gray wolves.

Disregarding martial ethics, it did not accept the Black Fiend's request for a one-on-one fight, choosing instead to command the wolf pack to besiege the Black Fiend.

However, due to the immense difference in strength, the Black Fiend found an opportunity to kill it, bringing about its complete demise.

After all, the Black Fiend's goal was to recruit subordinates, not to cause slaughter.

Quickly seizing control of this wolf pack was what he should do.

Letting out a resounding howl, the Black Fiend declared his dominant position to the wolf pack.

He was the king, the undisputed king of the wolf pack.

Looking at the fierce and powerful Black Fiend, and then at the former wolf king trampled under his feet.

These gray wolves ultimately chose to submit.

They let out howls, beginning to respond to the Black Fiend's call.

As time passed, their calls became more and more uniform, gradually forming a single entity.

Forming a new whole.

A stronger new whole.

It can be expected that from today onwards, this forest will face another formidable enemy!
