449: Final Trial

After awakening from the chaos of being overwhelmed by information, Luo Ji belatedly realized that the inheritance Lin Tianwei had casually bestowed upon him might be even more terrifying than he imagined.

A World Lord Level inheritance?

How could Lin Tianwei possibly give away such a low-level item?

The inheritance he bestowed upon Luo Ji was naturally an Immortal-level inheritance.

This was an Immortal-level inheritance that Lin Tianwei had synthesized, based on six Immortal-level inheritances, rapidly analyzed by a supercomputer, and supplemented by his own understanding of immortality.

Without even mentioning how powerful it was, it was at least more formidable and better suited for ordinary Cosmic Beasts to cultivate than the original inheritances.

After all, most of these powerhouses who achieved immortality relied on their already incredibly powerful bodies.

A life level of at least nine stages meant they were naturally among the ranks of powerhouses; the only difference was how strong they could ultimately become.

It was precisely because of this that their inheritances were not suitable for weak Cosmic Beasts like Luo Ji to directly assimilate.

Instead, the inheritance refined by Lin Tianwei was more suitable for Luo Ji to cultivate.

However, Luo Ji’s vision and knowledge were still too limited. At his current stage, he simply couldn’t comprehend how powerful the inheritance Lin Tianwei had given him truly was.

A World Lord Level five-stage? Or perhaps a seven-stage inheritance?

This was the limit of Luo Ji’s imagination; he simply couldn’t conceive that Lin Tianwei would casually bestow upon him an Immortal-level inheritance.

Although an Immortal-level inheritance doesn’t guarantee reaching the Immortal-level, it offers an opportunity—an opportunity to infinitely approach the Immortal-level.

With a corresponding inheritance, cultivation is like crossing a river by feeling for stones, with a clear path to follow.

Even if one ultimately cannot reach the other shore for various reasons, the gains along the journey alone are enough to benefit the inheritor immensely.

Let alone an Immortal-level inheritance, even a World Lord Level inheritance is a target that countless Cosmic Beasts scramble for.

Whenever a World Lord Level inheritance appears, countless Cosmic Beasts flock to it, hoping to acquire a powerful inheritance and become even stronger.

Even in cultivation, the monopoly of knowledge is extremely evident.

If it weren’t for the emergence of the publicly available Star Refining Art, the cultivation of Cosmic Beasts would be even more difficult.

Although it was clear that no Cosmic Beast could be so selfless in the world, and there might be something fishy about the appearance of the Star Refining Art,

it was still the choice of countless Cosmic Beasts, a choice they had to make.

Claws clenched, Luo Ji’s expression grew even more solemn, showing no trace of the joy of having just received a powerful inheritance.

He finally understood the deeper meaning behind Lin Tianwei’s actions.

The reason for placing a restriction within the inheritance wasn’t to limit his development, but simply because the inheritance was too powerful, something the current Luo Ji couldn’t withstand.

It could only be revealed to Luo Ji little by little; this was the most suitable method for him.

Even so, the mere fragments of inherited knowledge he had just received were enough to broaden Luo Ji’s horizons, even giving him the illusion that he could break through to the World Lord Level immediately.

He also most genuinely understood why Lin Tianwei would say his strength was too poor, that he couldn’t truly be of help to Lin Tianwei, and that he needed to undergo a second trial.

Luo Ji dared not imagine how terrifyingly powerful Lin Tianwei, who could casually bestow a powerful inheritance, truly was.

The sense of ease from just completing the first trial vanished instantly; all Luo Ji felt was an even heavier pressure.

It was the suffocating pressure imposed by Lin Tianwei’s power… two months!

With the assistance of various Space-type materials, Lin Tianwei finally succeeded in upgrading and consolidating the Tiger Tooth Space.

At this time, although the Tiger Tooth Space was not considered very powerful, it could at least isolate the coercion from the remains of Immortal-level powerhouses, preventing these spoils of war belonging to Lin Tianwei from affecting the development of the Tiger Tooth Space.

Although the current Tiger Tooth Space was not yet powerful enough, it had excellent growth potential.

As long as Lin Tianwei continuously poured spatial power into it day and night, the Tiger Tooth Space would eventually become both vast and strong.

After completing all this, Lin Tianwei finally had time to observe his other trophy—Halin.

With a thought, the terrifying Instantaneous Movement Talent activated, and Lin Tianwei instantly appeared near the Cage of Destruction.

Compared to its initial appearance, the Cage of Destruction had shrunk considerably, now only about one-third of its original size.

Correspondingly, Halin’s massive body had also shrunk significantly, now only one-third of what it was when captured.

In fact, at this point, Halin could no longer be considered a body; it could only be described as a strange object.

If it weren’t for the lingering consciousness fluctuations of Halin, Lin Tianwei would have almost thought the opponent had escaped.

This was a sapphire-blue gem, perfectly rhomboid, looking remarkably beautiful.

Only from the residual consciousness fluctuations could it be discerned that it was a Cosmic Beast crystal core, condensed from Halin’s essence.

In fact, Halin had not had a moment’s peace after being captured; he resisted immediately.

Unfortunately, his power was far too weak, no match for the Cage of Destruction, and he could only let out agonizing wails under the scorching Flames of Destruction.

To achieve immortality, Halin naturally couldn’t be a benevolent individual.

He was ruthless to his enemies, and equally ruthless to himself.

Upon realizing he had become Lin Tianwei’s captive, an inescapable captive, he had already foreseen his tragic end.

Captured by a cunning and treacherous enemy like Lin Tianwei, his fate would undoubtedly be a living hell, unable to live or die.

After all, Halin’s previous actions of tricking Lin Tianwei were still vivid in memory.

Of two evils, choose the lesser.

Faced with a fate worse than death, Halin chose to calmly embrace death.

Death is indeed terrifying, but there are also many things in this world more terrifying than death.

With a decision made in his heart, this time, when facing the scorching of the Cage of Destruction, Halin appeared somewhat resolute,

that was his unwavering courage!

It was also under the erosion of the Cage of Destruction that Halin’s remaining body further melted away, completely degenerating from the initial behemoth to its current tiny form.

Unfortunately, Halin was still a bit too naive; without Lin Tianwei’s permission, even death was not allowed.

Just as he watched his body gradually melt with hopeful anticipation, believing he would soon be free, he was horrified to discover that the power of the Cage of Destruction had been controlled.

It was just enough to cause him significant harm, but not enough to take his life.

Halin then realized how foolish he had been; he had no choice at all, and all the suffering he endured was for naught.

Moreover, by actively seeking death and voluntarily abandoning his own power, he no longer had the strength to resist the refining process of the Cage of Destruction.

Unfortunately, his realization came far too late now.

Having lost another two-thirds of his body, he was extremely weak, utterly unable to resist the suppression of the Cage of Destruction.

He could only watch helplessly as the Cage of Destruction gradually refined him, little by little refining everything he possessed.

Eventually, Halin’s incredibly powerful body was completely refined, leaving behind only this sapphire-blue gem, a sapphire-blue gem that still contained Halin’s consciousness.

It was as if he were dead, yet still alive, emitting faint soul fluctuations.

Even so, Lin Tianwei dared not underestimate this seemingly beautiful sapphire-blue gem.

The most beautiful things are also the most dangerous, and moreover, this sapphire-blue gem was once an Immortal-level existence.

Before Lin Tianwei possessed sufficient strength, sealing it away was the best option.

Finally, the Cage of Destruction gradually contracted, completely shrinking into a black treasure box, sealing the blue gem, which contained all of Halin, within it.

After completing all this, Lin Tianwei returned to the black cube space.

Although the process was somewhat drawn out, it was time to connect to the Law Arena and engage in his final battle.

He only hoped that his opponent in this battle would not disappoint him.

The moment he returned to the Law Arena, a flood of insights into laws instantly merged into Lin Tianwei’s consciousness. This was the harvest from his time being managed in the Law Arena.

Although it couldn’t compare to the efficiency of his personal comprehension, it was better than nothing, saving Lin Tianwei a significant amount of time.

Without hesitation, Lin Tianwei directly initiated the matching for the final arena battle.

Almost immediately after submitting the matching application, Lin Tianwei received a prompt from the Law Arena:

“Ding, you are currently in second place. After matching begins, the final trial will commence.”

“The final trial has only one chance. Once it begins, you cannot withdraw midway.”

“Completing the final trial will yield substantial rewards. Please choose the difficulty of the final trial carefully. The higher the trial difficulty, the stronger the opponent you will encounter.”

The so-called trial difficulty was equivalent to the arena difficulty Lin Tianwei had initially chosen, determining how powerful an opponent he would face in this trial.

Since the final trial had only one unique opportunity, the Law Arena uncharacteristically spoke a bit more.

After all, every Cosmic Beast that could achieve such accomplishments was a potential asset, deserving of special treatment from the Law Arena.

However, it was precisely the Law Arena’s prompt that made Lin Tianwei realize that the final trial might not be simple.

While some Cosmic Beasts would inevitably stubbornly choose the highest difficulty, there would definitely be conservative Cosmic Beasts who chose the lowest difficulty.

The Cosmic Beasts who reached second place were all exceptionally talented; even so, no Cosmic Beast had yet been able to pass the final trial.

Based on this, the final trial of the Law Arena might possess an extremely heaven-defying difficulty.

Yet, even this couldn’t intimidate Lin Tianwei; from beginning to end, he only had one answer in his eyes.

“Ding, the trial difficulty you have chosen is: Legendary.”

“The venue for this trial is the Chaotic Domain. The final trial is about to begin, please wait patiently.”

After a familiar scene transition, Lin Tianwei once again arrived at the familiar Chaotic Domain.

Although it was still the Chaotic Domain, due to its inherently chaotic nature, there was no such thing as familiarity.

Lin Tianwei could only rely on his strong comprehension of laws and rules to maximize his strength within the Chaotic Domain.

Unexpectedly, the opponent for the final trial was not a ferocious beast, but rather a humanoid creature.

He possessed a head and limbs like a human, giving a very gentle impression to a beast.

His body was covered with fine scales, clearly indicating impressive defensive capabilities.

His mutated fingertips were incredibly sharp, capable of easily tearing open the body of any prey.

This extremely human-like appearance gave Lin Tianwei a strange sense of familiarity.

With slightly opened eyes, the opponent briefly surveyed the surroundings, then turned his gaze to Lin Tianwei and slowly spoke:

“How many years has it been? Finally, a Cosmic Beast challenges the highest difficulty of the final trial again. I must commend your remarkable courage.”

“As for your strength? You can barely be called a genius, barely worthy of catching my eye.”

“Unfortunately, I have witnessed countless exceptionally talented individuals; you don’t even rank.”

“Without mentioning anything else, just within the Law Arena, I have encountered no fewer than ten Cosmic Beasts more talented than you.”

“Choosing the highest difficulty is not a wise choice for you. With your strength, there is no possibility of passing the final trial.”

“The final trial has not yet begun. I will make an exception and give you a chance to reconsider.”

“Choose the lowest difficulty for the final trial; perhaps then you might have a tiny chance of passing.”

Unexpectedly, the opponent seemed to have no intention of fighting at all, and actually initiated a conversation with Lin Tianwei.

Although his words were full of belittling remarks and a lack of optimism for Lin Tianwei,

he even advised Lin Tianwei not to be blindly confident, suggesting that choosing the lowest difficulty might offer a slight hope of success.

Originally, such words should have been extremely insulting and would have annoyed any beast.

Yet, coming from the mouth of this humanoid Cosmic Beast, there was no sense of belittling Lin Tianwei whatsoever.

It was as if the opponent wasn’t putting him down or demeaning him, but merely stating a fact objectively.

Lin Tianwei, for his part, felt no anger at all.

He naturally wouldn’t be so arrogant as to believe he was the most talented being of all time.

As long as the river of time continued to flow, countless possibilities would emerge, giving birth to countless futures.

Although everything the opponent said was true, it had no impact on Lin Tianwei whatsoever.

Lin Tianwei’s will was incredibly firm; once he made a choice, no matter if the path ahead was fraught with Thorns, he would persevere and follow it through.

Heavensea God-King!

A thought quickly flashed through Lin Tianwei’s mind, roughly identifying the opponent’s identity.

The opponent was either the Heavensea God-King or had a profound connection to him.

Many Cosmic Beasts were qualified to say such words, but only the Heavensea God-King could modify the difficulty of the final trial.

After all, the hands of other God-Kings could not interfere with the Law Arena built by the Heavensea God-King.

Although he had roughly guessed the opponent’s identity, Lin Tianwei showed no fear, stating neither humbly nor arrogantly:

“The choices I make are never changed.”

With muscles tensed, Lin Tianwei assumed a battle stance, and his body rapidly expanded.

Since he had made his choice, Lin Tianwei naturally intended to face this final trial in his most perfect state. (End of Chapter)
