381: The black deep sea

Facing Hong's self-proclaimed clever deception, Lin Tianwei did not fall for it at all; the moment the waiting period ended, he launched an attack on Hong.

This wasn't because Lin Tianwei saw through the opponent's disguise and discovered the truth of him feigning weakness to ambush a prey.

It was simply because no opponent was enough to stop Lin Tianwei's advance; he possessed an indomitable resolve.

No matter what kind of opponent he faced, Lin Tianwei's only choice was to launch an attack on him at the first opportunity.

Buzz.

That was the loud tremor caused by the Mental Power shockwave hitting Lin Tianwei's body, continuously penetrating him, attempting to assault his brain.

While the Mental Power attribute primarily determined the strength of Mental Power attacks, it also had a relatively strong influence on Mental Power defense.

As an existence with extremely low Mental Power, Lin Tianwei's mental defense was incredibly weak, and he suffered greatly the moment he engaged Hong.

He only felt his head buzzing, as if he had been hit by a blunt object, leaving him dizzy and disoriented.

The most critical part was that the Mental Power shockwaves emitted by Hong seemed endless, striking Lin Tianwei wave after wave, continuously attacking him.

This is also why the matching system has Talent template and body template filtering functions.

The purpose is to filter out opponents one is not skilled at dealing with, reducing the difficulty of the Arena.

Lin Tianwei, possessing four melee-focused Talent templates, might have held a significant advantage in close combat, but facing an opponent who disregarded martial ethics by hiding far away and continuously launching attacks, Lin Tianwei started at a disadvantage.

Even his movements were affected by the incessant Mental Power shockwaves.

Roar~~~~~~~~

Lin Tianwei let out an angry roar, a sign that he was about to launch a Berserk attack.

Although his body was incredibly painful, for Lin Tianwei, who had experienced countless battles, big and small, this minor injury could not affect his attack at all.

His physical injuries were endured with the support of a full fifteen hundred points in the Constitution attribute; he merely looked a bit disheveled.

The reason he didn't launch an attack immediately was simply to determine the opponent's position.

This Swift Spirit Leopard seemed to be an Agility + Mental Power-type Cosmic Beast; not only were its Mental Power attacks relentless, but its speed was also extremely fast, leaving trails of afterimages in the Arena, making it difficult to pinpoint its exact location.

To achieve a single fatal blow, Lin Tianwei chose to give Hong three minutes, waiting until he became accustomed to the opponent's attack patterns and determined his position. Only then would it be time for him to launch his attack.

Bang, bang, bang.

Lin Tianwei's body dashed forward with terrifying speed, completely disproportionate to his size.

How could Lin Tianwei, possessing the two transcendent-level Talent templates of Agility (Transcendence) and Agility (Transcendence), not be fast?

At full burst, he even reached a speed that was indiscernible to the naked eye.

At least, it was a speed that Hong's eyes couldn't clearly perceive.

Hong, who was desperately attacking, lost sight of Lin Tianwei in the next moment. By the time he realized something was wrong, he felt an incredibly terrifying attack hit his body.

In an instant, Hong's seemingly not-so-strong Swift Spirit Leopard body was sent flying backward, crashing heavily against the edge of the Arena.

Lin Tianwei, however, had no intention of letting his opponent off so easily.

This was the Law Arena, a place to earn points, and any Cosmic Beast that hindered him from earning points would be mercilessly torn apart by him.

They could only blame their bad luck for encountering Lin Tianwei, a living Yama King, through random matching.

Slap, slap, slap... Lin Tianwei's bear claws furiously swung, striking Hong's body again and again.

Facing such terrifying force, Hong had no power to retaliate whatsoever.

He could only watch as his body gradually disintegrated under Lin Tianwei's attack, roaring unwillingly, "You cheated!"

"How can a Berserk Giant Bear possess such terrifying speed and strength?"

"You liar!"

After saying these two sentences, Hong's body finally succumbed, taking his last breath with intense unwillingness.

Hong's seemingly powerful body only lasted less than half a minute against Lin Tianwei's terrifying strength before being directly pounded into a pulp.

Only a few strands of hair floating in the air could barely indicate that a Swift Spirit Leopard had once been there.

It was only because Cosmic Beasts that failed in the Law Arena didn't truly die that Hong remained so calm, using the last moments of his life to furiously curse Lin Tianwei.

Otherwise, under normal circumstances, facing an opponent he couldn't contend with, Hong would only try every means to escape.

Lin Tianwei, for his part, claimed to be extremely innocent, stating that he was clearly using the Berserk Giant Bear's body template.

He just added a little something extra, loading four transcendent-level Talent templates, that's all.

Lin Tianwei's second match in the Law Arena ended in a crushing victory.

"Ding, congratulations on successfully killing your opponent and winning this match."

"Your offensive evaluation for this match is: S. You easily defeated your opponent and secured victory."

"Your defensive evaluation for this match is: S. You withstood the enemy's fierce attacks with your powerful physique and taught him the lesson that 'scraping has its risks'."

"Your overall evaluation for this match is: S. Enjoy a 500% point bonus."

"Ding, after calculation, you have received a total of 525,000 points for this match victory (Base points 1000 * Novice Trial Bonus 1000% * S-rank Evaluation Bonus 500% * Hell Difficulty Bonus 1000% * Self Ordinary Evaluation Bonus * 105%)."

Watching the tens of thousands of points easily acquired, Lin Tianwei instantly felt that the Law Arena was simply too unchallenging.

Everyone said how valuable and difficult to obtain Law Arena points were, yet he had easily acquired over five hundred thousand points in a single match, it couldn't be simpler.

If Hong knew about Lin Tianwei's outrageous thoughts, he would probably explode with anger.

He had painstakingly managed to get a challenge mission, which would at most grant him five hundred points, only for Lin Tianwei to completely ruin it, leaving him with nothing.

Yet, Lin Tianwei not only easily obtained over five hundred thousand points but also seemed to look down on them, which was simply infuriating, beast comparing to beast.

Of course.

The reason Lin Tianwei was able to obtain so many points in this match was primarily due to the tenfold bonus from the Novice Trial reward.

Otherwise, Lin Tianwei would have only gained a little over five thousand points from this Hell-level difficulty match.

Moreover, the reason this opponent was so weak was also largely due to Lin Tianwei's 'Ordinary' evaluation and extremely low ranking data.

Once Lin Tianwei successfully completes three matches, his evaluation and ranking will be updated accordingly.

At that time, Lin Tianwei will be matched with much stronger opponents, and it remains to be seen whether he can continue to win with such overwhelming force.

Returning to the waiting room, Lin Tianwei, without a second thought, started the second match matching with the same Arena difficulty.

Hong was simply too weak. Lin Tianwei felt that the battle was over as soon as he started exerting himself, not even counting as a warm-up.

This match had no consumption for him, nor did he gain any experience that needed to be digested and absorbed.

Taking advantage of his good form, Lin Tianwei quickly initiated the next match.

Free points, why not earn them?

Matching in progress... Matching successful.

Waiting for confirmation to enter the Arena.

Confirmation successful, the Arena is about to begin.

After confirmation, Lin Tianwei returned to the familiar Arena.

However, this time, what Lin Tianwei felt immediately was not the familiar ground, but water.

The Arena had now transformed into a vast ocean, with no land whatsoever.

Lin Tianwei was in a position where the water level was extremely deep; the seawater, while supporting his body, was also continuously compressing him, making him feel terrifying water pressure.

Any movement Lin Tianwei made had to first overcome the continuously pressing seawater.

Terrain — Black Deep Sea!

Since Lin Tianwei did not choose the terrain, the choice of terrain naturally rested in the opponent's hands. Clearly, Lin Tianwei was about to face a powerful marine Cosmic Beast.

Although the Berserk Giant Bear was a terrestrial Cosmic Beast, Lin Tianwei's powerful strength meant he could survive underwater without any problem.

However, that was limited to survival; Lin Tianwei was not a water-type Cosmic Beast after all, and underwater combat would greatly affect his performance.

Moreover, this was not just a simple body of water, but the deep sea, a deep sea with immense water pressure.

The moment he sensed something was wrong, Lin Tianwei subconsciously looked towards the opponent's location.

But all he saw was pitch black; he couldn't see the surroundings at all.

The Black Deep Sea earned its "Black" not without reason; there was no light, and special substances pervasive in the seawater completely blocked conventional visual methods.

At least, the current Lin Tianwei couldn't see anything in the Black Deep Sea; he could only infer the enemy's position by simply sensing the water currents.

As for smell?

Lin Tianwei didn't believe that the Berserk Giant Bear possessed the ability to perceive scents in the ocean.

Under the display of the Black Deep Sea, the crucial factor of terrain finally showed its importance.

With just a simple change of venue, Lin Tianwei's strength was greatly suppressed.

It was even highly probable that the opponent would thrive in the Black Deep Sea, gaining even greater power.

This was also an embodiment of the Arena difficulty reaching Hell level.

Although Lin Tianwei's evaluation and ranking had not been updated, after two consecutive matches with S-rank evaluations, his hidden score was already extremely high.

This time, the Law Arena had prepared an extremely formidable opponent for Lin Tianwei, and it also came with a terrain that was extremely disadvantageous for him.

While Lin Tianwei was "helplessly" observing his surroundings, a dark figure was also sensing Lin Tianwei.

This was a shark-like Cosmic Beast, pitch black all over, almost blending into the Black Deep Sea.

Even if Lin Tianwei possessed the Talent to see underwater, he might not be able to spot the opponent's body in the Black Deep Sea.

This shark, named Luo, was, as Lin Tianwei expected, a genuine marine Cosmic Beast, and his strength had reached the World Lord Level First Order.

Luo was born on a very special planet, composed entirely of ocean, with no land whatsoever.

Born on such a high-ocean-content planet, Luo was naturally a deep-sea beast, and all his Talents were designed to give him stronger underwater combat abilities.

Coupled with his strength reaching World Lord Level First Order, he was entirely a deep-sea beast that could run rampant in the ocean.

Even World Lord Level Fifth Order powerhouses would not dare to easily challenge him in the ocean.

However, what made him was also what broke him—the ocean.

Luo's extreme strength in the ocean also meant that his strength on land and in space would be greatly diminished.

Normally, Luo would naturally not choose to fight outside his advantageous terrain.

But this place was different; this was the Law Arena.

Every Cosmic Beast, when matching, would prioritize banning terrains that were extremely unfavorable to them, and would even only choose to compete in certain terrains.

This made it difficult for Luo to find suitable opponents.

Unless he was willing to give up his advantage in the ocean and collide with enemies on land or in space, where he would be at a disadvantage.

If he didn't give up the ocean terrain, he couldn't find an opponent; if he gave up the ocean terrain, he might be brutalized by a Cosmic Beast of comparable strength.

Such a situation truly frustrated Luo.

Finally, after three consecutive losses, Luo became withdrawn.

To vent his frustration, he chose to enter an easy mode Arena, choosing to compete in his most proficient Black Deep Sea.

Not for points, but purely to vent his unhappiness.

And because of this, he became Lin Tianwei's opponent in this match.

After all, easy mode Arena was a complete waste of time and life for Cosmic Beasts.

It consumed at most one point to participate, and the profit ratio was a pathetic 10%; getting even 1 point from an easy mode match was considered lucky.

It should be noted that all Cosmic Beasts could only access the Law Arena before they turned one hundred years old.

Participating in easy mode Arena would only waste the time Cosmic Beasts had to access the Law Arena.

Unlike Lin Tianwei, who couldn't see, Luo could not only see everything in the Black Deep Sea but also saw it very clearly.

Not only that, the Black Deep Sea was his home turf; here, his vision, smell, and touch would be greatly enhanced, allowing him to easily perceive any of his opponent's actions.

Facing Lin Tianwei, a Cosmic Beast clearly not a marine creature, Luo's eyes revealed a bloodthirsty gleam.

Having finally returned to his home turf, allowing him to exert his full strength, he couldn't be too forceful and swallow his prey in one gulp.

He wanted to slowly torture this poor prey in front of him, deriving pleasure from its suffering to compensate for the emotional trauma he suffered from his three consecutive losses.

Luo didn't even put Lin Tianwei in his eyes; all he thought about was how to make this match more interesting.

He had chosen easy mode, so his opponent couldn't possibly be too strong; he could only be unilaterally slaughtered by him.

Moreover, Lin Tianwei's panic upon entering the Arena couldn't be faked; this was absolutely the instinctive reaction of a non-aquatic Cosmic Beast suddenly surrounded by water.

In this situation, how could he possibly lose?

Luo felt that the only thing he needed to consider was how to toy with the prey in front of him to get the most enjoyment. (End of this chapter)
