2: Talent fragments

Looking at the unfamiliar forest before him, Lin Tianwei felt a bit strange, wondering why he had come here.

However, it was fortunate that he had survived; at least he hadn't been directly euthanized.

"Gugugu."

Before Lin Tianwei could even survey his surroundings, his stomach rumbled with hunger.

This was followed by intense cramps, causing Lin Tianwei immense pain.

He instantly understood something.

He had been unconscious for much longer than he imagined.

Tigers are creatures that can endure hunger for a long time.

To be this hungry, he must have been unconscious for at least a week.

Just thinking about what might have happened during that week was terrifying for a tiger.

However, the most important thing right now was to fill his shriveled stomach.

For the majestic king of the forest, the Siberian Tiger, to starve to death in the forest would be an absolute disgrace.

Thanks to adapting during his period of unconsciousness, Lin Tianwei had completely gained control of his body.

Although he couldn't fully unleash the power within this body, he could at least command it as if it were his own arm.

Sniffing the air vigorously, Lin Tianwei began searching for food.

He even opened his mouth wide, wanting to use his vomeronasal organ to gather more information through his sense of smell.

Following the scent in the air, Lin Tianwei quickly discovered his prey.

Through his sense of smell, Lin Tianwei realized it was a small creature.

It also emitted a strong grassy scent.

Undoubtedly, this was a herbivore.

It was the best choice for the famished Lin Tianwei at this moment.

Lowering his body, Lin Tianwei slowly approached his target.

The hunger in his belly prevented him from exerting his full strength, so he had to be extra cautious.

By being careful and prudent, he aimed for a higher hunting success rate.

Otherwise, if he failed to catch prey multiple times and exhausted the remaining energy in this body, only death awaited him.

Soon, he saw his target.

It was a Hare.

Camouflaged by its grayish-yellow fur, it blended almost perfectly with the ground.

It was currently gnawing on the grass beside it, carefree.

If not for his keen sense of smell and the occasional gnawing sounds, Lin Tianwei might not have even noticed it, given its excellent hiding ability.

Step by step, Lin Tianwei continuously approached the Hare.

His movements became increasingly agile.

The closer he got to the target, the more careful he needed to be.

Any slight movement or sound could startle his prey away.

Unfortunately, Lin Tianwei ultimately failed.

Just as he was about to bring the Hare into his hunting range and launch his attack, the Hare's perked ears twitched slightly, detecting the sound of Lin Tianwei's movement.

With a push from its powerful hind legs, it instantly burst forth with terrifying speed.

Transforming into a grayish-yellow flash of lightning, it began a frantic escape.

Before long, it disappeared into a nearby Hare hole, vanishing without a trace.

Licking his lips, the unsuccessful Lin Tianwei could only continue searching for his next prey.

Chasing this incredibly fast Hare, which also had a rabbit hole for cover, would only waste his physical strength.

His body moved again, continuing to search for his prey in this forest.

Unfortunately, the hunting ability of a Siberian Tiger raised in a Zoo was inherently poor.

Moreover, Lin Tianwei was also an amateur.

Although he spotted prey several times, he failed to hunt successfully.

Looking at the rising sun in the sky, Lin Tianwei felt a sense of despair.

Having missed the optimal hunting time at night, and with the sun casting its rays upon the earth, hunting would become even more difficult for him after daybreak.

The constant hunger in his stomach reminded him at all times that he must quickly acquire enough food to replenish the energy his body needed.

The fat accumulated in the Zoo had long been completely broken down, unable to provide any more energy for his actions.

Finally, Lin Tianwei looked up at the treetops.

There were bird nests there.

Perhaps they could serve as emergency food for him.

The only problem he needed to solve was climbing the tree.

As a feline, a Siberian Tiger can actually learn the skill of climbing trees.

However, most Siberian Tigers deem it unnecessary and thus abandon this skill.

Yet, this was Lin Tianwei's only lifeline.

Looking at the towering tree before him and the bird's nest in its canopy, Lin Tianwei decided to take a gamble.

To see if he could climb this large tree.

His sharp claws extended, which would be the best tool to increase his grip.

Taking a deep breath, Lin Tianwei quickly started running.

His body transformed into a golden flash of lightning, accelerating towards the tree trunk.

His childhood tree-climbing experience told Lin Tianwei that climbing a tree must be done in one go.

The more hesitant he was, the less likely he would be to climb up.

Between life and death, Lin Tianwei unleashed his full potential.

With an acceleration, he actually climbed up the towering tree in front of him.

He successfully reached a branch.

There was a bird's nest there.

Inside were three fledglings and two bird eggs.

They were about to become his food.

Clinging tightly to the tree trunk, Lin Tianwei's flexible tiger tail became his best tool.

With a gentle hook, it latched onto the edge of the bird's nest.

Perhaps sensing the predator's presence, the three fledglings began to squirm restlessly.

They wanted to escape their once-safe home.

However, with their feathers not even fully grown, how could they possibly resist under Lin Tianwei's gaze?

They could only watch as Lin Tianwei used his tiger tail to gradually pull the bird's nest closer to him.

Leading them little by little towards an unknown abyss.

Thump.

One fledgling, out of fear, broke free from the nest's confines and tumbled downwards.

Escaping the tiger's maw, it instead met another form of death.

Falling from such a high tree, it had no chance of survival.

Looking at the prey so close, Lin Tianwei felt his mouth watering.

He couldn't resist and bit into the prey before him.

To be honest, these fledglings weren't even enough to fill Lin Tianwei's teeth.

But unable to hunt other prey, he could only make do with them.

Two at a time.

The fledglings, which hadn't yet grown feathers, were the most delicious.

Their meat was tender.

He could swallow them whole without much chewing.

They transformed into energy, nourishing Lin Tianwei's parched stomach.

"Ding, congratulations to the host for killing a new target."

"Ding, Talent extraction failed. The host has gained one Talent Shard."

The familiar voice came again, and a hint of confusion appeared on Lin Tianwei's large tiger head.

What was this thing, and why was it making sounds?

Recalling the prompt before he was knocked out by the tranquilizer dart, Lin Tianwei suddenly understood.

This might be a power that could help him become stronger.

If he remembered correctly, there seemed to be an unused Talent stored in his backpack.

"Idler: Low-grade Talent. The owner's desire to work hard is greatly reduced."

"Note: Can be decomposed to obtain five Talent Shards."

Without hesitation, Lin Tianwei chose to decompose it.

This Talent was useless to him, even entirely detrimental; no wonder it was rated as a low-grade Talent.

Lin Tianwei's shard balance thus reached six points.

However, nothing else happened besides that, which left Lin Tianwei quite frustrated.

It seemed it wasn't yet time to use the Talent Shards.

After realizing this, Lin Tianwei once again enjoyed his food.

There were also two bird eggs in the nest.

He didn't stand on ceremony and swallowed them whole.

He didn't even spare the eggshells.

His stomach truly needed a lot of nutrition.

As expected, Lin Tianwei once again gained one Talent Shard.

After satisfying his hunger, Lin Tianwei used the height advantage of the large tree to survey his surroundings.

To search for food for himself.

This was also another reason why he climbed the tree.

The higher he stood, the better his vision, and the easier it would be to find suitable prey for his hunt!
