380: The second competition

The training room itself is a place for Cosmic Beasts to get used to their bodies, so Lin Tianwei could naturally use the Talent templates he possessed.

Without hesitation, Lin Tianwei directly chose to use the Talent template: Muscle Enhancement (Extraordinary).

Although the Law Arena was incredibly realistic, it was not a completely real world after all.

For example, right now, the newly acquired Talent template took effect on Lin Tianwei's body at an extremely fast pace.

The Berserk Giant Bear's body template itself was excellent in both Strength and physique, with incredibly developed muscles all over, making him a true muscular beast.

Coupled with the Talent template Lin Tianwei chose, Strength Reinforcement, this Berserk Giant Bear was considerably stronger than an ordinary Berserk Giant Bear.

As soon as the power of the Talent template: Muscle Enhancement (Extraordinary) took effect, Lin Tianwei's entire body's muscles began to swell again.

Unlike the previous Talent template: Strength Reinforcement (Extraordinary), the power of the Talent template: Muscle Enhancement (Extraordinary) was equally ferocious but slightly gentler, at least Lin Tianwei's muscles didn't twist too exaggeratedly.

Instead, they seemed to grow naturally, little by little, gradually expanding.

Soon, Lin Tianwei's physique expanded by thirty percent, evidently turning him into a super muscle mass, looking incredibly imposing.

The overburdened skin was also stretched by the rapidly growing muscles, becoming incredibly full, like a balloon that could burst at any moment.

Strength 9000 (Excellent), Physique 8500 (Excellent), Agility 300 (Good), Mental Power 45 (Terrible)!

Under the effect of the new Talent template, Lin Tianwei's overall attributes surged dramatically.

Especially his Strength and Physique attributes, which achieved a qualitative leap, both breaking the 8,000 mark and almost reaching the top-tier evaluation.

The Law Arena was not a simple game; it leaned more towards reality.

The Reinforcement of values was not a simple multiplication by five, but rather based on the overall quality of the body.

Under normal logic, when the physique is not strong enough, Strength cannot grow indefinitely.

The result of frantically pouring Strength would only cause the body to collapse.

This was also why the Talent template: Muscle Enhancement (Extraordinary) could achieve better Reinforcement effects, even though it was an Extraordinary-level Talent template.

Comprehensive strength was true strength.

Thinking of this, Lin Tianwei looked with some disdain at his Agility attribute, which was only 120 points.

This level of Agility was really difficult to support such a huge physique, making Lin Tianwei experience what 'clumsy' meant for the first time.

Talent: Agility (Extraordinary)!

Talent: Flexibility (Extraordinary)!

Lin Tianwei subconsciously used the Talent Extraction System; he urgently wanted to change his current clumsy state.

A moment later, Lin Tianwei acquired two new Talent templates, possessing the desired effects that could make his body more flexible and dramatically increase his Agility attribute.

However, when Lin Tianwei tried to add Talent templates to himself to improve his clumsy state, he received a prompt from the Law Arena:

"Ding, the current combat template has reached its limit. Continuing to add Talent templates will very likely cause the combat template to collapse. Please confirm whether to continue."

Continue!

This was merely a virtual world; Lin Tianwei would not truly die. Instead, he could use the combat template to experiment with Talent combinations.

If Lin Tianwei didn't have the courage to try such a good opportunity, then he wouldn't be worthy of becoming a true powerhouse.

As the new Talent templates were loaded, new power began to take effect on Lin Tianwei's body.

Completely different from the Talent power provided by the Talent Extraction System, Talent templates acted on Lin Tianwei's body and could only be accepted as they were, with no possibility of adjustment.

To make his body agile and flexible, Lin Tianwei's body had to evolve again, transforming into a form completely different from its current one.

Muscles.

His originally iron-hard muscles seemed to be digested and absorbed, gradually atrophying, or rather, becoming more refined.

Under the effect of the new Talent templates, Lin Tianwei, who was originally a mountain of muscles, rapidly shrunk, quickly transforming into a physique even smaller than his initial one.

His body also gradually grew into a streamlined shape, more aerodynamic, allowing him to achieve faster speeds when running.

Gradually, Lin Tianwei began to become somewhat 'non-bear-like,' looking more like a mandrill that could walk upright.

Strength 5500 (Excellent), Physique 4800 (Excellent), Agility 6000 (Excellent), Mental Power 45 (Terrible)!

With the loading of the new Talent templates, Lin Tianwei's overall attributes decreased instead of increasing.

This was a compromise made by this body to perfectly compatible with the three powerful Talent templates.

Talent template: Strength Reinforcement (Extraordinary) loaded!

Without hesitation, Lin Tianwei continued his experiment, loading the fourth Extraordinary-level Talent template he currently possessed.

Like a lump of clay that could be kneaded at will, Lin Tianwei's body began to change again.

The muscles that had finally quieted down swelled again, gradually supporting this body, allowing it to exert even greater Strength.

Strength 8000 (Excellent), Physique 5000 (Excellent), Agility 5000 (Excellent), Mental Power 45 (Terrible)!

Once the Talent template: Strength Reinforcement (Extraordinary) was fully loaded, Lin Tianwei looked like a relatively slender Berserk Giant Bear, and his attributes had significantly improved.

After moving his body slightly and feeling the powerful Strength contained within, Lin Tianwei decided to abandon the idea of continuing to Reinforce this body.

More Talent templates were not necessarily better; at this point, the four Talent templates had just reached a balance, allowing them to exert their strongest effects.

Rashly adding new Talent templates would instead affect the stability of this body and prevent it from performing optimally.

Looking at his attributes, which already far exceeded the basic combat template, Lin Tianwei's confidence surged, and he prepared for his second Arena match since arriving at the Law Arena.

Combat was the best way to test whether this body was up to standard.

Thinking this, Lin Tianwei left the training room and went to the waiting room, preparing to start matching for his second Arena match.

After hundreds of millions of years of maintenance, the rules of the Law Arena had become almost perfect, with multiple matching methods that could 100% satisfy any matching requirements of the participants.

Facing various flashy matching modes, Lin Tianwei ultimately chose the matching method that maximized his gains.

Who the opponent was and how strong he was didn't matter; Lin Tianwei only cared about how much profit the opponent could bring him.

He possessed the confidence to sweep through everything.

Arena Difficulty: Hell;

Base Points: 1000;

Base Reward: 1000%;

Body Template Restriction: None;

Talent Template Restriction: None;

Terrain Restriction: None.

Warning: When Arena difficulty is Hell, it is possible to be matched with an opponent one major realm higher than yourself. Please confirm whether to match.

One major realm higher than Lin Tianwei? That would be at least a World Lord Level One opponent.

Lin Tianwei, however, was not afraid at all and unhesitatingly chose to confirm the match.

This was not the universe, but the Law Arena, which emphasized the comprehension of laws.

Let alone a World Lord Level opponent, Lin Tianwei wasn't even afraid of Domain Lord Level or even Immortal-level powerhouses.

The Law Arena had eight Arena difficulties, from low to high: Simple, Normal, Difficult, Very Difficult, Nightmare, Hell, Purgatory, Legendary.

They corresponded to base reward ratios of 10%, 30%, 50%, 100%, 300%, 1000%, 5000%, and 10000% respectively.

If one chose the Legendary-level Arena difficulty, the base reward ratio was even uncapped, with no limits whatsoever.

Starting from Hell difficulty, while having extremely high base rewards, the Arena difficulty also jumped to an extremely terrifying level.

Because this meant you might be matched with opponents several major realms higher than yourself.

Hell-level Arena difficulty could match opponents up to one major realm higher than oneself, Purgatory-level Arena difficulty up to two major realms higher, and Legendary-level Arena difficulty up to three major realms higher.

Although the numerical fluctuations of body templates were not large, Cosmic Beasts with stronger power also had deeper insights into laws and were more likely to possess powerful Talent templates.

If Talent templates could be compatible and cooperative, they could even allow an unremarkable body template to exert hundreds, or even tens of thousands of times its original power.

The difficulty of winning against such powerful Cosmic Beasts in the Arena was imaginable.

In the Law Arena, no single point would be easily obtained.

As for why Lin Tianwei chose Hell difficulty, it was certainly not because Lin Tianwei was afraid of challenging Legendary difficulty or dared not challenge the highest difficulty.

It was simply because Lin Tianwei could only choose Hell difficulty at this stage.

After all, Lin Tianwei was just an ordinary Cosmic Beast ranked after 300 million, and he was not qualified to unlock such high-difficulty Arena matches.

Under Hell difficulty, one could spend a maximum of one thousand points to participate in the Arena, and these one thousand points would also serve as Lin Tianwei's base points for calculating rewards after victory.

Although Lin Tianwei didn't have that many points, he was currently in the welfare rounds after the novice trial, which exempted him from point consumption.

In this situation, Lin Tianwei naturally chose to maximize his points, directly opting to spend one thousand points to participate in this Arena match.

Unexpectedly, the matching time for this Arena match was much longer than Lin Tianwei had imagined.

He had thought that among at least 300 million Cosmic Beasts, there would always be one that met his matching requirements, but he didn't expect to wait for a full half-day.

This was even without Lin Tianwei imposing any restrictions on body templates and Talent templates. If there were more filtering conditions, matching alone might take Lin Tianwei several days.

However, considering the high rewards he might receive after victory, Lin Tianwei still decided to make high-difficulty Arena matches his main target.

Exchanging a heart of the heavenly sea required one hundred million points, and these few points were simply not enough.

After confirming the match was complete, Lin Tianwei reappeared in the familiar Arena.

Only this time, Lin Tianwei's opponent would not be the Trial Beast that only passively took hits and didn't know how to fight back.

Instead, it would be an even more powerful, perhaps even one major realm higher than Lin Tianwei's, terrifying opponent.

Aside from the novice trial, there was a waiting period for Arena matches between Cosmic Beasts, intended to give both sides time to observe each other.

Looking around, Lin Tianwei never expected to see an incredibly familiar figure—the Swift Spirit Leopard.

It was the exact same figure as the Swift Spirit Leopard Lin Tianwei had seen in the basic body template.

The Swift Spirit Leopard's unique streamlined body made it look incredibly flexible.

This was an Agility-type Cosmic Beast, which seemed to naturally counter Lin Tianwei, who chose the Berserk Giant Bear template.

As Lin Tianwei was surprised, his opponent, Hong, was equally astonished.

He never expected to encounter an opponent using a basic body template.

Under normal circumstances, only novices in the Law Arena would use a basic body template.

Because, not to mention those expensive custom body templates, even a slightly more carefully designed custom body template would be stronger than a basic body template.

Normal Cosmic Beasts would not do something as thankless as participating in an Arena match using a basic body template.

"Ding, Challenge Mode has been activated. You will receive point rewards based on the time it takes to defeat your opponent, with a maximum reward of five hundred points."

Looking at the challenge mission he had finally obtained, and then at Lin Tianwei's slightly leaner physique compared to a typical Berserk Giant Bear, Hong revealed an 'as expected' expression.

He secretly thought that this was indeed a cunning opponent, deliberately setting his custom body template to have a similar appearance to the basic body template to mislead enemies.

He was trying to take advantage of the enemy's carelessness and launch a fatal backstab at the most critical moment.

It was a pity that the opponent was still a bit too young and didn't know that he had already seen through the truth.

He would never fall for such a foolish trick.

Moreover, he was the master of 'playing the pig to eat the tiger.'

His 'Swift Spirit Leopard' body template, custom-made to deceive enemies, could achieve 100% replication and be indistinguishable from the real thing.

Once the enemy believed his disguise, what awaited him would be his most fatal lightning strike.

This was a challenge mission now, a challenge mission where the faster the enemy was killed, the richer the rewards.

His excellent disguise, if it could buy even a moment of time, would be enough for him to launch a fatal blow against the enemy and claim the highest five hundred point reward.

That was five hundred points! The thought alone made Hong drool.

It was precisely because of this that the moment the waiting time ended, Hong launched a lightning strike at Lin Tianwei, attempting to instantly kill Lin Tianwei and obtain the best challenge mission reward.

Mental Shockwave!

Hong's terrifying Mental Power, which had reached at least Excellent grade, transformed into an invisible shockwave, launching a fatal attack on Lin Tianwei at the first opportunity.

That's right, Hong, that sly old fox, was clearly a Mental-type Cosmic Beast but disguised himself as an Agility-type Cosmic Beast by pretending to be a Swift Spirit Leopard.

If the enemy was fooled by Hong's appearance and didn't immediately rush to attack Hong, it would allow him, as a Mental-type Cosmic Beast, to gain a complete advantage, fully demonstrating what it meant to be a long-range artillery cannon.

Even opponents stronger than Hong would be defeated by Hong's endless waves of Mental Shockwaves. (End of this chapter)
