382: Cat and mouse

When the waiting time ended, battle was imminent!

The battle began silently before Lin Tianwei could gather much crucial information.

Thanks to his former Talent: Underwater Combat (Extraordinary), Lin Tianwei wasn't entirely inexperienced in water battles, though he was somewhat weak compared to a water-type Cosmic Beast.

To his right!

An extremely faint ripple of water came from Lin Tianwei's right and was approaching him at an incredibly fast speed.

The enemy had likely launched an attack from his right.

Facing such a situation, Lin Tianwei had no intention of defending; instead, he raised his bear paw and slammed it fiercely to his right.

Offense was the best defense, especially in such an unfavorable terrain. Lin Tianwei had to seize every opportunity to inflict damage on the enemy.

It missed.

The imagined feeling of his bear paw hitting the enemy never occurred, making Lin Tianwei immediately realize something was wrong.

This was a feint; the enemy had not attacked from his right.

In fact, Cosmic Beasts with some control over the ocean could deceive enemies by manipulating water currents, a trick that wasn't particularly clever.

But for Lin Tianwei, who couldn't obtain information through other channels, he could only try based on the information he currently had.

Upon realizing he had been deceived, Lin Tianwei instinctively retracted his bear paw and began to defend his body.

Since the opponent intended to deceive him, it couldn't be without purpose.

He must be planning to attack him while he was blindly attacking.

Although he was confident in his powerful physique, Lin Tianwei still hoped to minimize the damage he received.

After all, his situation was not optimistic; the special environment of the Black Deep Sea put him at an absolute disadvantage.

However, the imagined attack did not arrive; instead, another ripple of water came from Lin Tianwei's left, as if the enemy had changed direction and intended to attack him from the left.

This situation immediately put Lin Tianwei in a dilemma.

Should he continue to attack or continue to defend?

With the enemy's condition completely unclear, neither offense nor defense seemed like a good choice.

Watching Lin Tianwei, who was at a loss, intending both to attack and defend, Luo's eyes gleamed with delight.

Just as he had initially thought, this was a game of cat and mouse.

The enemy was simply too weak; this soft and powerless bear paw couldn't cause him any harm.

Not to mention that the opponent couldn't hit him at all; even if he could, he couldn't break through his defense.

Luo believed his extremely smooth skin could easily deflect the current attack.

However, facing the vulnerable Lin Tianwei, Luo did not take the opportunity to attack him.

Instead, he slightly swayed his body, causing another ripple of water to hit Lin Tianwei's body with an incredibly tricky trajectory.

Since it was a game of cat and mouse, he naturally didn't want the mouse, his plaything, to die too soon.

The mouse only pleased the cat, who held absolute power over its life and death, when it was alive and struggling desperately to survive.

Only when he was completely tired of playing would he mercifully end the opponent's life.

The Law Arena encouraged competition; although death here was not truly fatal, the penalty for suicide was extremely severe.

This meant Luo didn't need to worry about Lin Tianwei fleeing the battle or escaping this game of cat and mouse.

He only needed to tease the opponent to his heart's content, deriving pleasure from his clumsy movements.

The reason he didn't attack when Lin Tianwei showed vulnerabilities was also for this reason.

He wanted to see Lin Tianwei's helpless and desperate expression in this situation.

Sometimes, death is not scary; rather, the wait for death is the most despairing... Faced with this dilemma, Lin Tianwei would not hesitate at all; offense was his only choice.

So, when faced with the second suspicious ripple, Lin Tianwei unhesitatingly chose to attack, fiercely swinging his bear paw again.

As expected, Lin Tianwei's attack missed again.

The possible attack still hadn't arrived, as if the enemy wasn't nearby at all.

Not only that, before Lin Tianwei could react, a third ripple had already struck again, creating the illusion that the enemy was attacking him.

This scenario made Lin Tianwei think while he unhesitatingly launched an attack.

What was the enemy trying to do? Why only create false ripples and not attack him?

Was this an overly cautious enemy? Unless he showed a huge vulnerability, the opponent wouldn't attack him?

To verify this conjecture, Lin Tianwei even deliberately exposed a huge vulnerability during one attack.

His body seemed to have overexerted itself, completely losing balance in the Black Deep Sea.

Under normal circumstances, this would be the best time to seize the opportunity to attack Lin Tianwei.

However, something that puzzled Lin Tianwei happened; the imagined attack never arrived.

What followed, instead, were three suspicious ripples, representing suspicious water movements that indicated a possible enemy attack.

Was the enemy too weak? Even with a huge advantage in terrain, he still waited until he was exhausted before attacking him?

The current situation made Lin Tianwei involuntarily have such a thought.

However, he immediately dismissed this unrealistic idea.

One must know that he was currently participating in a hell-difficulty Arena match; the enemy's strength could only be much stronger than his, not weaker.

Then there was only one explanation for these unreasonable behaviors, an explanation that made Lin Tianwei incredibly angry.

The opponent didn't lack the opportunity to attack him, nor did he lack the strength to attack him.

He was simply trying to toy with him, treating him like a monkey.

He laughed despite his anger.

Lin Tianwei gave up attacking and switched to defensive mode.

He hadn't encountered an opponent who dared to toy with him like this in a very long time, and he was determined to make the opponent understand what it meant to be inviolable.

Facing Lin Tianwei, who had abandoned offense for defense, Luo's expression gradually soured.

If the mouse didn't struggle, how could he, the cat, derive pleasure from it?

He wasn't here to observe a Berserk Giant Bear with infinite defense.

"No attack? No struggle?" Luo snorted, "Then let me show you the consequences of giving up resistance."

Luo's enormous body moved through the Black Deep Sea without a sound, not transmitting a single ripple.

If it weren't to provoke Lin Tianwei, Luo would never have created such a huge vulnerability as ripples.

Not only that, Luo's swimming speed was extremely fast, reaching Lin Tianwei in just three seconds and launching a fatal surprise attack.

For Luo, who had lived in the Black Deep Sea for a long time, the immense water pressure not only didn't hinder his movement but actually provided propulsion.

Exerting force, propelled by the terrifying water pressure, Luo launched a headbutt attack at Lin Tianwei.

Yet, even with such a powerful attack, under the cover of the Black Deep Sea, Luo still made no sound, crashing into Lin Tianwei with lightning speed.

Lin Tianwei, who was carefully defending, only felt a terrifying force suddenly come from in front of him, sending him flying like a ball.

The terrifying force instantly severely wounded Lin Tianwei's body,

making his body twist and contort under the violent impact, like a piece of playdough.

However, this was only the beginning of the enemy's attack.

Luo's body exerted force, like an arrow leaving the bowstring, chasing after Lin Tianwei at a speed even faster than his body was thrown back,

continuing to strike Lin Tianwei before he could even react.

For a moment, Lin Tianwei was like a defenseless ping-pong ball.

And Luo was the paddle that could continuously hit the ping-pong ball, constantly striking Lin Tianwei.

Once, twice,..., dozens of times.

Under Luo's immense strength, Lin Tianwei's body constantly twisted and deformed, eventually becoming completely unrecognizable as a bear, violently beaten into a highly elastic meatball.

It was as if Luo only needed to open his Giant Maw slightly to swallow this perfectly beaten meatball in one bite, turning it into the most delicious food.

Luo's gaze also became increasingly wanton.

To make Lin Tianwei last longer, he deliberately did not use his Sharp Teeth.

He only used the simplest blunt force to attack Lin Tianwei's body, tormenting Lin Tianwei's flesh and soul little by little.

He felt that Lin Tianwei must have already felt his power, his invincibility, and was completely plunged into despair.

However, this simple act of hitting a sandbag was truly difficult for Luo to genuinely enjoy; what he liked most was the desperate expression on the enemy's face.

Thinking of this, Luo actually gave up attacking Lin Tianwei, even actively pulling away, giving Lin Tianwei a chance to breathe.

He believed that after this lesson, Lin Tianwei would definitely not dare to respond to him so passively; he should know how to properly face a powerful opponent like himself.

Lin Tianwei's physique was incredibly strong; although Luo's attacks were fierce, they were not fatal.

After Luo stopped attacking, Lin Tianwei's body quickly recovered from its meatball state.

In less than ten minutes, Lin Tianwei had already returned to the appearance of a Berserk Giant Bear, but he looked even more disheveled.

It was clear that although his body had recovered, he had also consumed a lot of stamina.

In this situation, facing the powerful Luo, Lin Tianwei would only appear more helpless.

However, was that truly the case?

Seemingly feeling that Lin Tianwei had recovered, Luo once again played the game of cat and mouse, constantly sending ripples towards Lin Tianwei.

Ripples with basically no lethality but extreme insult constantly came from all directions, like invisible mental attacks, attempting to drive Lin Tianwei completely mad.

To push him into the abyss of despair.

However, facing such a furious ripple assault, Lin Tianwei still made no movement, remaining incredibly calm, merely adopting the simplest defensive posture.

It seemed the opponent before him was not enough to stir him.

Such a reaction naturally made Luo furious.

He never imagined that, facing such a powerful self, Lin Tianwei could act so calmly.

In his anger, Luo also harbored murderous intent towards Lin Tianwei.

If Lin Tianwei couldn't cooperate with him in this game of cat and mouse, then he had no reason to spare his life.

He wanted him to die, to die miserably.

Thinking this, Luo attacked Lin Tianwei again.

However, this time, he did not use a simple headbutt attack; instead, he opened his Giant Maw, revealing a mouthful of Sharp Teeth.

Each tooth was terrifyingly long and incredibly sharp, and combined with Luo's terrifying bite force, it could easily pierce through a prey's body.

Luo could even completely devour his prey alive by chewing it.

What he enjoyed most was the sight of his prey struggling in his mouth, groaning in pain, yet utterly unable to resist his power, only able to die unwillingly and completely transform into his food.

With this thought, Luo bit down fiercely on Lin Tianwei.

The Sharp Teeth, carrying an unstoppable force, bit down hard on Lin Tianwei.

He was already impatient to hear the sounds of his prey screaming in his mouth.

As expected, Luo's attack easily hit Lin Tianwei's body; in the Black Deep Sea, Lin Tianwei was completely unable to resist the attack from Luo, the overlord of the deep sea.

The Sharp Teeth passed through Lin Tianwei's body without obstruction, piercing straight through and creating several extremely terrifying wounds.

However, before Luo could continue to exert force and completely crush Lin Tianwei with his Sharp Teeth, Lin Tianwei moved, launching his first counterattack against Luo since entering this Black Deep Sea.

Although Luo's strength was very powerful, and he enjoyed a doubled BUFF in the Black Deep Sea.

But for Lin Tianwei, no opponent was enough to make him fear; his only thought was how to catch this cunning enemy.

His previous display of weakness was merely a disguise to capture this cunning opponent.

While Luo was toying with Lin Tianwei like a mouse, Lin Tianwei was also treating him like a cunning mouse.

Once Lin Tianwei seized the opportunity, he would completely tear Luo's body apart, making Luo realize who was truly the cat and who was the real mouse.

What appeared to be Luo's unstoppable bite on Lin Tianwei's body was actually Luo being restrained.

In the Black Deep Sea, as long as Luo engaged in guerrilla warfare with Lin Tianwei, Lin Tianwei would be unable to capture his figure.

But now it was different.

By biting Lin Tianwei, Luo also restrained himself, giving Lin Tianwei a 100% chance of hitting his attack.

Raising his right claw high, Lin Tianwei suddenly burst forth with all his strength, slamming it mercilessly down onto the Sharp Teeth that held him captive. (End of Chapter)
