78: Bloodwing
Watching Lin Tianwei calmly leave the screen, Pato angrily slammed the table.
He cursed, "This is a provocation to us!"
"We must immediately adjust our plan and deploy powerful heavy weapons."
"In individual combat, we are no match for the Tiger King."
Facing the enraged Pato, Derek agreed, "Indeed."
"Given the Tiger King's defense, ordinary weapons cannot harm him at all."
"What a pity."
"Such a powerful bio-weapon cannot be used by us."
"Otherwise, if he were secretly released on the distant other side of the ocean,"
"he would surely cause an earth-shattering disaster."
"Now, however, we are the ones who must bear the consequences of this catastrophe."
"But it doesn't matter; as long as he is still within the Primeval Forest, he cannot escape our control."
"Hunting him down is only a matter of time."
...Under Pato's mobilization, various heavy weapons were continuously transported to the vicinity of the Primeval Forest.
As soon as Lin Tianwei's trace was discovered, that would be the moment they would completely bury him!
At least, that's what they thought.
---
Under the cover of the river water, Lin Tianwei completely disappeared from human sight.
At this moment, he was slowly moving along the river towards the lake he had once encountered.
There, a formidable opponent that Lin Tianwei deeply coveted lay dormant.
It could drop the Talent he most desired.
When thirsty, he drank river water.
When hungry, he ate Silver Fish.
When oxygen was insufficient, he would stealthily poke his nose out of the water to take a big breath.
Lin Tianwei was getting closer and closer to the lake.
Silver Fish were indeed good; they always appeared for Lin Tianwei at the most crucial moments.
However, just as Lin Tianwei was about to confront the Giant Jellyfish directly,
a commotion arose within his abdomen.
The five bird eggs he had devoured with his flesh and blood finally showed signs of activity.
Under the corrosion of Lin Tianwei's blood, one bird egg ultimately survived.
And successfully hatched within Lin Tianwei's body.
Without hesitation, Lin Tianwei directly cut open his belly.
The backflow of river water was not enough to harm him.
Instead, retrieving the chick that had so difficultly hatched successfully was more important.
Soon, Lin Tianwei found his target.
A blood-red chick, entirely crimson.
It was opening its mouth, silently crying out within his abdomen.
Its siblings, however, were not so lucky.
Two bird eggs directly shattered during Lin Tianwei's movements.
Two other bird eggs could not withstand the erosion of Lin Tianwei's flesh and blood.
They completely lost their vitality.
Ignoring the failures,
Lin Tianwei's focus was solely on this surviving chick.
Lin Tianwei felt that there was a subtle, almost imperceptible connection between him and this chick.
"Shut up!"
Lin Tianwei released pheromones, silently commanding it.
The little creature's chirping was truly annoying to the tiger.
It might even attract enemies.
Although this possibility was minuscule.
But the current river was under intense monitoring by the Research Institute.
Even the slightest disturbance would be enough to draw their attention.
This chick did not possess his Water Stealth Talent.
As for what if it couldn't receive the pheromone information?
That could only mean it was destined for this calamity and wouldn't live past today.
Fortunately, under the erosion of Lin Tianwei's flesh and blood, this newly born life also acquired a special ability.
It allowed it to receive the information transmitted by Lin Tianwei through pheromones.
Its body's actions were faster than its consciousness.
It immediately closed its mouth, no longer making any sound.
However, this little fellow clearly didn't understand its current predicament.
Its eyes were wide, filled with incomprehension.
Why, after its body received some kind of information, could its mouth no longer move?
It was as if this body, which originally belonged to it, had another owner.
Before it could think much, it was involuntarily carried by a giant tiger paw and plunged into the water.
The little creature, choking on a large gulp of water, only felt its eagle life was difficult.
It had just been born and was about to be drowned in the river.
Yet, it found a gentle force throwing it directly out of the water, hitting the bank.
It quickly scrambled and crawled towards the bank, thus saving its tiny life.
It could only vaguely sense that some colossal being seemed to be hidden in the water.
Under the combined effect of pheromones and imprinting behavior,
the bewildered chick regarded Lin Tianwei as an incredibly important presence to it.
Although it still wanted to stay by Lin Tianwei's side,
it ultimately could not resist Lin Tianwei's command and climbed ashore, preparing to survive on this unfamiliar land.
After completing all of this, Lin Tianwei did not linger and left the area.
Whether it could survive would depend on the little creature's fortune.
The range of pheromone transmission was wide.
As long as it was alive, he would always be able to find it.
If it could survive, he would bestow upon it a name... Bloodwing!
---
Bloodwing, barely ashore, furiously spat out the river water from its belly.
It was too difficult.
Why did it have to suffer such hardship immediately after being born?
However, it dared not stop.
A voice, coming from an unknown source, told it that this place was not safe.
It needed to become stronger quickly to survive in this perilous Primeval Forest.
Flight, wings, sky.
These were its greatest reliance.
Without hesitation, enduring its weak, pitiful, and helpless body, Bloodwing began to run quickly.
Like a ground-dwelling chicken, it ran wildly through the grass.
Newly hatched, it had not yet learned to fly.
It wasn't until it reached a relatively safe patch of grass that Bloodwing stopped, panting.
Next, it would spend a relatively long developmental period here.
Possessing the excellent genes of the Green Eagle, plus a little assistance from Lin Tianwei,
it was believed that it would grow quickly.
If the people from the Research Institute knew that their highly anticipated five bird eggs had all benefited Lin Tianwei,
and instead became a boost for Lin Tianwei,
they would probably be furious to death on the spot.
---
Lin Tianwei hid for a full month.
The people from the Research Institute searched the entire Primeval Forest.
But they could never have imagined that Lin Tianwei had been hiding in the original river all along.
With the blessings of both Diving and Underwater Breathing Talents,
his survival ability underwater was not much worse than that of true aquatic creatures.
The reason he waited for so long was mainly that Lin Tianwei had to accumulate enough strength.
Only then could he conquer that Giant Jellyfish.
Under the effect of the Energy Storage Talent, Lin Tianwei's body visibly grew fatter.
Vast energy, supplemented by a large amount of food, began to accumulate in his body.
At the same time, this was also providing time for Bloodwing's development.
It would be too much of a pity if the helper he had so painstakingly acquired didn't get a chance to grow.
Under Bloodwing's own terrifying Talent, it quickly became a Tyrant (overlord) of the grassland.
Now, it had grown into a sub-adult male eagle.
Over a meter tall.
Its wingspan, when spread, was a full three to four meters.
It had few rivals on the grassland.
Even if it couldn't win, it could calmly escape.
It was enough to become Lin Tianwei's assistant.
As the human search radius became smaller and smaller, not much time remained before Lin Tianwei would be exposed.
His eyes looked into the distance.
As if they could penetrate countless rivers and reach that giant lake.
Seeing that terrifying Giant Jellyfish.
Lin Tianwei thought to himself, it was time to harvest the last prey.
These humans had guessed his objective and had set up an inescapable net around all S-class research subjects.
But they could not stop his onward march.
What he desired would ultimately be firmly in his grasp.
