121: Let’s go buy gifts!
Wang Han surveyed the luxurious lounge and then saw the bill on Lin Yu’s table.
He subconsciously assumed Lin Yu was hesitating over the cost, which was why he was standing there for so long.
“Put whatever you spend here on my tab. I’ll have my secretary come over and handle it later.”
“Listen to me!”
Lin Yu: “...”
He realized that his usual logic for dealing with enemies and businessmen was completely ineffective with Wang Han.
This was a pure, almost commanding type of care, from an elder to a junior.
Simple, crude, but effective.
Wang Han then asked, “Oh, by the way, where’s that girl Yaoyao? Why didn’t she come with you?”
Lin Yu snapped back to reality and replied, “Yaoyao is cultivating, so I didn’t disturb her.”
“Cultivating?” Wang Han was startled, then burst out laughing, “Good! Good! Ambitious! Just like me!”
His self-praise came out of nowhere.
Wang Qingxuan, standing nearby, seemed used to it. She merely turned her head slightly to the side, pretending to look at the scenery.
Lin Yu, for once, explained, “Uncle Wang, I’m not concerned about the money. I’m just waiting for the approval process, they said it would take about ten minutes.”
He felt it was necessary to clarify.
Although he genuinely didn’t have a concept of money right now, being treated like a poor kid who couldn’t afford it still felt a bit strange.
“Ten minutes?!”
Wang Han’s voice suddenly rose again, making the lounge hum.
“Bullshit! These bastards are just judging people! What kind of damn approval? They’re just dragging their feet, trying to make you sign up for more services!”
He cursed and swore, spitting as he spoke.
“Last time I came, it was the same damn thing! They wouldn’t approve it until I booked Wang Qingxuan’s ten-year training plan!”
“Damn it, what a greedy bunch!”
The more Wang Han spoke, the angrier he got. He rolled up his sleeves, ready to go confront someone.
Lin Yu quickly stopped him.
It was truly a headache to be with such an uninhibited elder.
“Alright, alright, don’t stoop to their level.” Wang Han, held back by Lin Yu, had most of his anger dissipate.
He waved his hand and suddenly had a new idea.
“It’s boring to just wait here. Let’s go! We’re going out!”
“Perfect, I haven’t seen that girl Yaoyao in a long time either. Both of you siblings have become successful now, and your Uncle here needs to show his appreciation.”
“Let’s go pick up Yaoyao first, then find a place for a good meal! A celebration!”
Wang Han’s plan changed rapidly, giving no one time to react.
“I’m happy today, so I’m treating!”
Lin Yu was about to say he still had things to do, like testing his skills.
But Wang Han’s large, fan-like hand was already on his shoulder, half-pushing, half-leading him out.
“Don’t dilly-dally! You haven’t learned a bit of your father’s bad temper, but you’ve picked up his hesitation perfectly!”
“Come on, come on! What’s wrong with you, kid, why are you being so distant with me?!”
“You used to pee on my lap more often than on your dad’s when you were little!”
Lin Yu was pushed by him, not knowing whether to laugh or cry.
This enthusiasm was truly impossible to refuse.
Oh, well.
Testing skills wasn’t urgent anyway.
He simply gave up resisting and let Wang Han make the arrangements.
As they walked out of the VIP lounge, the supervisor from earlier was waiting at the door, a professional smile on his face.
“Director Wang, Mr. Lin, are you going to...”
“Go to your mother!” Wang Han immediately blurted out a national expletive, “I’m not waiting anymore! Your efficiency is like a snail’s crawl, why even run a store? Just close down already!”
The supervisor’s smile froze on his face, but he still braced himself and explained, “Director Wang, the process is...”
“Process your head!” Wang Han didn’t listen at all, “My secretary will settle the bill later. Make sure you charge me for the most expensive things you have! Hear me? Don’t be stingy, or I’ll complain about you!”
With that, he ignored the petrified supervisor, pulled Lin Yu and Wang Qingxuan, and strode towards the exit.
Wang Qingxuan followed behind, seemingly oblivious to the astonished glances from those around her, just walking silently, like an emotionless walking machine.
Lin Yu finally understood.
Wang Qingxuan’s cool and aloof personality was probably forced out of her by her overly enthusiastic father.
Otherwise, it would be difficult for a normal person to remain emotionally stable in such an environment.
The group arrived at the Organization’s parking lot.
Wang Han pressed the car key, and an exaggerated, menacingly lined black armored off-road vehicle let out a low roar.
“Get in!”
Wang Han pulled open the car door and got in first.
Lin Yu and Wang Qingxuan followed, getting into the back seat.
The interior space was huge, yet the decor was simple, full of metallic texture.
“Before we pick up Yaoyao, we need to buy some gifts.” Wang Han muttered as he started the car, “It’s been a long time, it wouldn’t look right to go empty-handed.”
He suddenly remembered something and looked back at Lin Yu.
“Oh, right, I originally brought Wang Qingxuan today to test her physique and attributes so I could arrange her subsequent sprint potions.”
“Perfect, since we ran into each other today, don’t leave out yours and Yaoyao’s either!”
“Three kids, buy them all at once! Saves me another trip!”
Wang Han slapped the steering wheel, and the matter was thus decided.
Lin Yu’s heart stirred.
Potions?
He was quite sensitive to that word now.
After all, the crisis of the three major potion merchants in Linzhou was caused by him alone.
He asked, feigning curiosity, “Uncle Wang, where do we buy them? Do we go to Ju Li, Feng Xing, or them? I heard they’re having a promotion recently, and the discounts seem quite significant.”
As soon as he said this, Wang Han, who was driving, scoffed.
The scoff was full of disdain and contempt.
“Promotion?”
“Xiao Yu, you’re still too young.”
Wang Han glanced at him in the rearview mirror, as if instructing a junior who hadn’t seen much of the world.
“A merchant’s mouth is a deceiving ghost. Just listen to their ‘promotions,’ but never take them seriously.”
“Whether it’s buy-one-get-one-free or limited-time discounts, they’re all traps behind the scenes.”
Wang Han skillfully steered the car, merging smoothly onto the main road.
“Take Fengxing Technology, for example, with their ‘Rising Star Signing Package.’ Sounds great, right? Sign up and get a full set of advanced potions.”
“But have you read the contract? It’s full of unfair clauses, a slave contract! Once you sign it, you’ll be their dog, they tell you to go east, you can’t go west. They take the lion’s share of all profits, and you get a little soup.”
“As for Ju Li and Pan Shi, it’s pretty much the same. Their promotional potions are either close to expiring or are defective products. Not only are their effects greatly discounted, but they might even have side effects.”
“Your Uncle here fell for that when he was young, but I won’t be fooled again now.”
Wang Han’s words surprised Lin Yu.
He hadn’t expected this Uncle Wang, who seemed so rough, to be so meticulous.
It seemed that none of those who could sit on the board of Tianqing Group were simple characters.
