354: Chapter 354 Rejecting Zhao Tianyang
As for Lin Yao, her "Thousand Void Illusion Blast" was indeed shocking, but they believed they had already captured her energy consumption curve and casting intervals.
"Since Captain Wen wants to stay, let him stay," an analyst whispered. "We have other data to process."
"Yeah, that kid Lin Yu has probably shown most of his trump cards by now," another person chimed in. "Continuing would just be a repeat of what just happened."
They dispersed one by one, leaving only two or three intern analysts. These interns had excitement written all over their faces; it was their first time seeing combat data of this level up close. To them, this was a textbook case of actual combat.
Wen Yan ignored their chatter. He simply stood up and followed the staff to the new observation deck.
The new S-Class Duel Arena was located on the highest floor of the Organization. Its scale far exceeded that of Arena No. 1.
The entire venue was circular, with a diameter of over five hundred meters.
The ground was cast from a special alloy, its surface shimmering with a faint blue luster.
In the air, an energy barrier visible to the naked eye stood thick and stable.
Countless energy-conducting runes were embedded in the surrounding walls. They flickered with a faint light, as if ready to devour any stray energy at any moment. The entire space was permeated with a solemn and oppressive atmosphere.
The layout of the observation deck was the same as before. However, there were very few people left. Besides Wen Yan and those two or three intern analysts, there were only a few unfamiliar faces.
These unfamiliar faces wore the high-level uniforms of the Organization, clearly being the heads of the technical departments.
A hint of curiosity showed on their faces, yet they remained seemingly unperturbed.
Wen Yan took his seat. The console in front of him was even more complex than the previous one, with a dense array of buttons and screens displaying various real-time data.
He lightly tapped the keyboard, pulling up the latest data for Lin Yu, Lin Yao, and Zhao Tianyang.
The Organization had a complete system that updated extremely quickly.
Inside the arena, Lin Yu and Lin Yao had already taken their positions. Zhao Tianyang stood behind Lin Yu, still standing with his hands down like a statue. His eyes were closed, and he was muttering something under his breath.
"Infinite... Asura... Celebration... Storm... Asura..."
He was immersed in his own "naming philosophy," as if everything around him had nothing to do with him.
Lin Yu looked at Lin Yao with a calm expression.
"Have you thought it through?" Lin Yu said. "If we really start fighting this time, I won't hold back anymore."
Lin Yao's cheeks puffed out in anger. Of course she had thought it through. She was going to use absolute strength to make her brother take back that comment about "crushing her confidence."
She wanted to prove that she wasn't that Little Girl who needed protection. She was a Mythical-level Professional, the wielder of the [Source of All Laws].
She wanted her older brother to understand that from now on, she was someone he could rely on too!
Even if her brother fell into the same kind of trouble as five years ago, she could—and possessed enough power to—protect him!
She firmly believed she could do it now!
"Hmph!" Lin Yao snorted softly. "Who's afraid of who!"
She put her hands on her hips and leaned forward slightly.
"Bring it on!" Lin Yao said. "I want to see exactly what skills you have that can crush me!"
Wen Yan looked at Lin Yu on the screen. The latter's expression carried an inexplicable confidence.
This confidence made Wen Yan feel somewhat puzzled.
Lin Yu's profession was [Card Maker], Epic Rank.
Lin Yao was [Myriad Laws Comprehension], Mythic Rank.
Zhao Tianyang was [Asura], Mythic Rank.
From the data on paper, Lin Yu was indeed at the lowest power level.
Wen Yan's brain began to calculate rapidly.
He repeatedly analyzed all of Lin Yu's previous combat data.
Whether it was the fight against Zhao Tianyang or the elemental storm just now, Lin Yu had shown extraordinary resilience and recovery.
But that was in a limited arena, after all, and most of the energy impacts were absorbed by the arena's barriers.
Now, an S-Class Duel Arena meant there were no restrictions.
Wen Yan's fingers lightly tapped the console. He couldn't figure out where Lin Yu's confidence came from.
Did he still have a hidden trump card? Or was he merely provoking Lin Yao?
Regardless, as the staff gradually withdrew, the duel began once again.
Inside the Duel Arena, Lin Yao held her head high, her small face written with defiance. She took the initiative, her voice clear and bright.
"Big brother, you'd better be prepared," Lin Yao said.
Lin Yu just smiled. That smile was gentle.
Lin Yao's cheeks puffed up. To her, this smile was clearly dismissive.
"Don't think I don't know what you're thinking," Lin Yao said with her hands on her hips.
"Do you think I'm still that same Little Girl from before?"
"Thinking I'm still that little sister who only knows how to cry and needs your protection?"
"You're wrong!" Lin Yao's voice rose.
"The current me is no longer as weak as you imagine!"
"I... in a moment, I'm going to beat you until you're looking for your teeth on the ground, rolling all over the place, with your butt blooming like a flower!"
"And what else was there... ah, beat you so hard your mother won't recognize you... ah, that won't work."
Lin Yao was doing her best to spout what she thought was trash talk.
Lin Yu continued to just look at her, a hint of doting on his face. That look made Lin Yao's anger flare up.
"What kind of expression is that?" Lin Yao asked huffily.
"Do you think I'm just being silly?"
Lin Yu nodded.
"That's right," Lin Yu said. "My Yao Yao is adorably silly."
Lin Yao felt like she was going to explode. This was completely the tone used to coax a child. What she wanted was recognition, the respect of an equal duel, not this "cuteness" seen through an older brother's filter! It made all her grand declarations sound like she was just acting spoiled. She took a deep breath, forcing down the anger in her heart.
The staff began to guide Zhao Tianyang toward the center of the Duel Arena.
"Wait a minute!" Lin Yao suddenly spoke up, blocking the way.
The staff stopped their movements. Zhao Tianyang stopped as well.
Lin Yao turned to Lin Yu, her tone resolute. "I said, I want to fight you one-on-one."
Lin Yu looked at her without speaking. He could feel the drive coming from his sister. This girl really wanted to prove herself.
"What?" Lin Yao raised her voice. "Are you afraid?"
Lin Yu sighed softly. "Are you sure?"
"Of course!" Lin Yao said without hesitation.
"I don't need him." Lin Yao pointed at Zhao Tianyang.
"I alone am enough."
Lin Yu looked at Zhao Tianyang. Zhao Tianyang still had his eyes closed, muttering something in a low voice. He seemed not to have heard the conversation. Lin Yu signaled for him to step aside.
Zhao Tianyang's figure blurred as he retreated to a position several hundred meters behind Lin Yu. He stood still.
In the observation deck, Wen Yan leaned back. He watched Lin Yao's actions on the screen.
"She rejected Zhao Tianyang?" Wen Yan murmured to himself.
The intern analyst next to him nodded. "Yes, Captain Wen."
Wen Yan laced his fingers together. His main objective was to observe Zhao Tianyang.
Now, that opportunity was gone. Just watching the duel between Lin Yu and Lin Yao felt a bit dull to Wen Yan.
After all, putting aside the task of observing Zhao Tianyang, this match had a completely predictable outcome.
