416: Chapter 416 Visitors from the Top of the Sky

VIP Room.

Zhong Huai sat in front of the console, his right hand raised, index finger pointing at the red virtual button labeled "Close Light Screen."

Once, twice.

He pressed it over a dozen times in just three seconds.

The light screen merely flickered violently due to the rapid operation, then stubbornly continued to display the data from the center of the arena.

Zhong Huai's finger stopped.

He mechanically reached out and grabbed for the water cup on the edge of the table.

His movements lost their usual precision; his fingertips brushed against the side of the cup, but he failed to grip it.

The water cup wobbled and tipped over.

Slightly hot tea spilled across the table, flowing down the edge and soaking entirely into his tactical vest, which represented his status as the vice-captain of Fangs.

Zhong Huai didn't wipe it, nor did he even look down.

He just stared at the light screen.

Wen Yan stood by his side, hands clenched into fists, the veins on the back of his hands writhing like tiny snakes from excessive force.

"Captain Zhong."

Wen Yan spoke, his speech incredibly fast, as if reciting a string of incomprehensible garbled code, "In the last three seconds, the peak energy fluctuations in the arena exceeded the monitoring limit of the Organization by three hundred times."

"Comparing with the database, it doesn't belong to any known healing, holy, or life skill systems."

Zhong Huai continued to stare fixedly at the afterimage left after the light cocoon vanished.

Wen Yan suddenly took half a step forward and grabbed Zhong Huai's wrist.

"Vice-captain, look at this feedback curve!"

He pointed at a line that rose almost vertically, "The energy wasn't drawn from the air, nor was it overdrawn from his body."

"This energy... it's as if it was printed out of thin air."

"There was no process; it bypassed 'conversion' entirely and instantly materialized into vitality."

"This isn't a damn skill; this is modifying the data of reality!"

Feeling the force on his wrist, Zhong Huai finally reacted.

He grabbed Wen Yan's shoulder in return, his nails almost digging into Wen Yan's muscles.

"Are you sure the data isn't misread?"

Zhong Huai's voice was terribly dry, "With a skill of this rank, how could his body possibly withstand it? That potion can only burst energy; it can't strengthen the container!"

Wen Yan nodded, then shook his head.

"I've seen it once before."

He thought of the incomprehensible control Lin Yu had shown before, "But I didn't expect him to be able to do it to this extent."

"Seeing it again, it's still... despair-inducing."

At the edge of the arena.

The Security Personnel, who had been in battle formation and ready to deal with a riot, now lowered their riot shields in a synchronized motion.

The metal shields hit the ground with a dull thud.

No one gave an order, but all the Security Personnel were retreating.

They increased their distance from the arena until their backs were against the cold walls.

In their eyes, the young man standing in the center of the arena was no longer a "contestant" hired and protected by the Organization.

This display... had already turned their shock into fear.

On the broadcast control console.

The technicians originally responsible for cutting the signal had their hands completely off the keyboards.

Several monitors had gone black due to the electromagnetic overload just now, and the remaining ones were only flashing meaningless static.

No one went to fix them, and no one was operating them.

They just stared blankly at the black screens, as if they could see the suffocating scene in the arena through those extinguished pixels.

Lin Yu turned around.

His movements were steady, without weakness or staggering.

"It's over."

He stopped in front of Lin Yao and gently pressed his palm onto the top of her head.

Lin Yu's palm was very steady, its warmth transferring through her hair to Lin Yao's scalp.

He didn't say another word.

His gaze swept past the top of Lin Yao's head, slowly scanning the front rows of the stands outside the Isolation Wall.

The spot that had been the rowdiest earlier was now empty.

The Man surnamed Wang, the man with the old scar, and the woman holding the photo were all gone. All that remained was a messy floor, covered in countless footprints, and an abandoned coat with the name "Wang Lei" written on it in blood.

It was blown by the wind, flipping over to cover a pile of filth on the ground, vomited by someone unknown.

Inside the VIP room.

Zhong Huai abruptly shook off Wen Yan's hand.

He didn't look at the arena; instead, he turned and pulled out a black, unmarked Encrypted Communication Board from the inside of his tactical vest.

His fingers tapped rapidly on the screen, which had a restrained glow, without a single pause.

A series of complex code streams flashed by.

Finally, he pulled up a file page that he had recently marked and modified repeatedly.

Lin Yu.

Zhong Huai's index finger hovered over the "Special" tag for a second, then he swiped down hard and smeared it to the side.

[Unknown].

Two crimson characters replaced the original rank.

Wen Yan leaned in, his breathing a bit hurried. He didn't look at the jarring "Unknown" but instead pointed at a line of text in the pending tasks at the bottom of the screen.

Code name: [Divine Revelation Mission].

Wen Yan's finger drew a heavy cross over those words, representing deletion.

Immediately after, his finger moved below Lin Yu's name and drew an even more forceful circle, representing the absolute core.

Zhong Huai watched Wen Yan's actions without stopping him.

When the circle was completely closed and emitted a faint data glow, he nodded in approval.

He turned off the communication board and tucked it back into his vest.

In the arena.

Lin Yu withdrew his gaze from the stands, as if the disappearance of those few clowns wasn't worth half a second of his energy.

He turned around to face Lin Yao again, who was still sitting on the ground.

Lin Yao still had her head down, her hands tightly gripping the hem of her tracksuit, her knuckles white from the strain.

Drip.

A drop of moisture hit the metal floor in front of her, splashing into a tiny water flower.

Drip. Drip-drip.

A second drop, a third, soon merging into a small puddle.

She didn't make a sound, but her entire body was trembling violently.

Lin Yu walked to her and slowly crouched down.

He reached out his right hand; he didn't wipe her tears, but just gently patted the top of her head again.

"I'm here."

Two words.

It was these two words that completely destroyed the psychological defense Lin Yao had forcibly built over five years.

Her grip on the hem of her clothes loosened.

Her mouth opened slightly.

The next second.

"Waaaaah—"

A massive, heart-wrenching cry erupted from her throat without any warning.

The sound drowned out the hum of the remaining ventilation equipment in the venue, drowned out all subtle noises, and poured out without reservation, carrying five years' worth of grievance, suppression, fear, and longing.

In this sound was contained the helplessness Lin Yao had suppressed for five years.

"They all said you were crazy... they all said you were a psycho..."

"They wouldn't play with me... they called me... called me the psycho's sister..."

"I didn't... I fought them... but I couldn't win..."

Lin Yu just crouched there, letting her grab his wrist, not moving or speaking.

He just looked at her.

Looking at this little girl who had needed him to carry her home on his back five years ago, and how she had gradually grown into this thorn-covered appearance amidst rumors and isolation.

The wounds he hadn't seen after he left were, at this moment, torn open by her own hands and laid bloodily before him.

The crying lasted for nearly a minute.

From the initial hysteria, it slowly turned into sobbing.

Lin Yao finally let go of Lin Yu's hand.

She messily wiped her face with the back of her hand, smearing a mixture of ash and tears all over it.

Then, she pushed off the ground and stood up.

She was half a head taller than Lin Yu, and she looked down at her brother, who was still crouching there.

"The path you're taking now..." Her voice still carried a heavy sob, but it was no longer trembling, "Can you keep walking it until the end?"

Lin Yu also stood up and looked her in the eye.

He gave a definitive answer.

"Yes."

A single word, decisive and resolute.

Lin Yao stopped crying completely. She even managed a smile that looked worse than crying.

The knot in her heart was untied.

In the stands, the hundred thousand spectators who had survived the disaster just watched the siblings talking as if no one else were around.

In the pit, the one hundred and forty-one contestants who had just crawled back from the brink of death also watched them.

No one dared to make a sound.

No one dared to step forward and interrupt.

The entire Organization fell into a strange, absolute silence centered on the siblings.

Until—

Creeeeak—!!!

An extremely piercing screech of metal being forcibly torn apart came from above everyone's heads.

Everyone, including Lin Yu and Lin Yao, subconsciously looked up.

They saw the massive dome of the venue, which had just closed and was made of countless alloy plates, being forcibly... ripped open in the center by an incomprehensible Giant Strength.
