241: Could this be true?

The ring made a soft rolling sound on the dirty floor of the bus.

Everyone saw it.

The ring had slipped from the hands of the Alliance's anchor, tumbling toward a dusty corner like a piece of worthless trash.

One second.

Two seconds.

Dead silence filled the bus.

President Shi and Wang Teng were still immersed in the shock of seeing Old Shi pale and trembling violently, their minds blank.

With his head bowed, Li Mo's entire body was tensed like a drawn bow.

Wang Qingxuan subconsciously covered her mouth, forgetting even to breathe.

Only the Driver Uncle, looking through the rearview mirror, curled his lip in disdain.

"Acting. Keep acting."

"Where's that bragging momentum from before? Scared out of your wits just because a piece of junk ring dropped?"

Just when everyone thought Old Shi would faint from the shock, he moved.

"Hah!"

A hoarse, inhuman growl squeezed out from the depths of Old Shi's throat.

His body, which had been slightly hunched due to old age, now erupted with agility completely inconsistent with his years!

He didn't stand up.

Instead, he lunged forward violently from his seat!

"Bang!"

A dull thud echoed.

Old Shi, who was over eighty, had fallen straight onto the bus aisle.

"Grandfather!"

"Old Shi!"

President Shi and Wang Teng were scared out of their wits!

They both screamed and lunged forward like madmen, trying to help him up.

If he were seriously injured from this fall, half the sky of the Linzhou business world would collapse!

However, before their hands could touch Old Shi's body, a roar exploded in the carriage: "Get away!"

Old Shi violently flung his hand, using all his strength to fiercely swat away the hands President Shi and Wang Teng had reached out.

His eyes were bloodshot; there was no trace left of the composed man who had been in control just moments ago.

He lay on the ground, ignoring the thick grime staining his expensive Tang suit, and scrambled on his hands and knees toward the direction where the ring had rolled!

His posture was wretched.

His movements were incredibly humble.

Like a traveler on the verge of dying of thirst in the desert who had spotted the last drop of water.

Like a gambler who had lost everything in a casino, trying to retrieve the last chip.

Everyone in the carriage was petrified.

President Shi and Wang Teng stood with their hands frozen in mid-air, their faces full of disbelief.

Their grandfather, the Old Shi who would never change his expression even if Mount Tai collapsed before him, was currently... crawling on the ground?

Wang Teng's brain completely shut down; he even suspected if he had fallen under some high-level illusion cast by Spiritual Power.

Feng Rui was so scared that he shrank into his seat, wishing he could turn into an invisible person.

It was too terrifying.

This world was too terrifying!

Li Mo's body was trembling slightly.

Not because of fear, but because of an extreme, irrepressible excitement!

He understood!

He completely understood!

The contents of the ring the boss had taken out exceeded the cognitive limits of Old Shi, this titan of the business world!

It was even enough to overturn everything he had built!

That was why he had lost his composure!

That was why he was acting so desperately!

Boss... just who exactly are you?

Wang Qingxuan looked at the old figure crawling wretchedly on the ground, then looked at the young man in the back row who was still leaning calmly against the window, as if he were enjoying the scenery.

A sense of massive disconnect and absurdity made it hard for her to bear.

Did these two people really live in the same world?

"Pfft..."

From the driver's seat, the Driver Uncle let out another sneer of contempt.

"Acting. Really good acting."

"It's a waste that this old man didn't become an actor."

In his heart, he had already labeled this group: an old con artist who loved to brag, leading a bunch of pretentious lunatics.

He decided that as soon as they reached the stop, he would kick this plague of people off; he didn't want them to stay on his bus for even a second longer.

In this strange atmosphere, Old Shi finally crawled to the corner of the carriage.

His fingers were trembling uncontrollably with excitement; it took him several tries before he finally managed to pick up the pitch-black ring.

The ring was in his hand.

It was cold.

Yet, it felt as if he were holding the whole world.

Old Shi used his last ounce of strength to clutch the ring tightly in his palm, then collapsed onto the floor as if completely drained, gasping for air.

Sweat soaked through his clothes, and the blood drained from his wrinkled face, leaving it with a deathly, ashen pallor.

"Grandfather... are, are you okay?"

President Shi asked with a trembling voice, cautiously approaching him again.

This time, Old Shi did not reprimand him.

He just waved his hand, and with the support of President Shi and Wang Teng, he moved back to his seat step by step like a walking corpse.

The carriage fell into dead silence once again.

But this time, the atmosphere was completely different.

If the previous silence was the calm before the storm, then this was the absolute vacuum after a nuclear explosion.

All the hypocritical pleasantries, all the setup for the negotiation, all the high-and-mighty attitudes had been crushed to pieces by that wretched crawl of Old Shi's.

President Shi and Wang Teng stood to the side, at a loss.

They looked at their grandfather, then at the perpetrator.

They desperately wanted to know what had happened.

What exactly was inside that ring?

Could it scare their anchor to this extent?

Old Shi sat back in his seat, his hand clutching the ring still trembling uncontrollably.

He didn't look at his son, nor did he look at the concerned Wang Teng.

Slowly, using all his strength, he raised his head.

Those eyes, which had once understood the ways of the world and were wise and profound, now held only one emotion.

Fear.

In the carriage, apart from the faint hum of the engine, there was not a sound.

Suddenly, Old Shi moved.

He didn't speak, nor did he look at anyone.

He just mechanically, rigidly, probed that sliver of Spiritual Power, which was on the verge of dissipating, into the pitch-black ring once again.

Hum.

His Spiritual Power touched the ocean of rings.

He did not probe randomly again.

His Spiritual Power, as if it had become tangible, plucked a ring from that sea of rings.

Then, he performed an action that left everyone bewildered.

He took that "child ring" grabbed by his Spiritual Power out of the space of the "mother ring."

"Clatter."

An identical, pitch-black Sumu Ring fell onto the seat in front of him.

This was not an illusion.

These were real, existing objects.

President Shi and Wang Teng's pupils constricted sharply.

What did this mean?

The next second, Old Shi repeated the action.

"Clatter."

A second ring fell.

"Clatter."

A third one.

"Clatter." "Clatter." "Clatter."

One Sumu Ring after another was taken out from the mother ring by him, falling onto the seat and rolling onto the floor like raindrops.

He seemed to want to use this most primitive method to verify the reality of this world.

To prove that he wasn't crazy.

He wasn't crazy.

The world was the one that had gone crazy!

Soon, on the seat in front of him and on the floor under his feet, a small mountain made of top-tier storage rings had piled up.

Each one was priceless.

Each one represented one hundred and six thousand vials of Top-tier Potion.
