318: Go find that divine revelation!
"Commander-in-Chief!"
The gazes of everyone on the helipad instantly focused on him.
Qin Zhan slowly turned around. He didn't rush them, but his mountain-like steadiness exerted a silent pressure.
The researcher propped his hands on his knees, panting heavily for a few moments before finally catching his breath.
He looked up, his face a mix of exhaustion, fanaticism, and a hint of lingering fear.
"It's out! The final calculation model has finished running!"
He held up the tablet in his hand, his voice slightly cracking.
"Our previous hypothesis... has been confirmed!"
"This isn't a natural disaster! Nor is it a strike from any known civilization's over-the-top weaponry!"
The researcher took a deep breath and practically roared out each word one by one.
"Right within the boundaries of our Linzhou City, a... Divine Revelation Mission was just born!"
Divine Revelation Mission!
These three words exploded in the minds of all the team members like a clap of thunder.
A collective gasp echoed through the crowd.
"Based on the reverse analysis of the dissipated energy attributes collected by global sensors, we can be one hundred percent certain..."
The researcher's Adam's apple bobbed before he finally spat out those words.
"It is indeed a Lightning-attribute deity!"
As his voice fell, the entire helipad lapsed into an eerie silence.
The next second, everyone felt as if a heavy burden had been lifted.
Qin Zhan's perpetually tense shoulders visibly relaxed at that moment. He exhaled a long breath of turbid air; the massive shadow of facing an unknown, great power that had loomed over his heart finally dissipated mostly.
A natural disaster is an act of God.
Divine punishment is incomprehensible destruction.
But a Divine Revelation Mission is different.
That is the highest level of opportunity and challenge existing within the rules of this world.
As long as it's something within the rules, it means there are tracks to follow; and if there are tracks to follow, it means it can be dealt with and handled.
The most terrifying thing is always the unknown.
Now, this greatest unknown had been given a definition.
That was enough.
Qin Zhan's mind quickly returned to a state of calm, and his deep eyes became sharp once more.
"Since it's a quest, there must be a triggerer."
His voice wasn't loud, yet it reached everyone's ears clearly.
"Find the person."
One gaze after another, as if by prior agreement, landed on a figure in the team who seemed somewhat out of place.
Fangs Special Operations Team member and Head of the Research Department, Zhong Huai.
He was currently leaning lazily against an armored vehicle, appearing to have no interest in the earth-shattering events that had just occurred.
Feeling everyone's stares, Zhong Huai immediately raised his hands in a gesture of surrender.
"Boss, don't look at me."
His face was full of disdain and impatience.
"I'm busy here. That silly kid's assessment quest has a ton of crap to arrange. I can't leave."
Hearing this reason, Qin Zhan didn't lose his temper.
That kid's "College Entrance Examination" was a mess created by both him and Zhong Huai; it was indeed a matter to attend to.
Though he also knew that even without this quest, with Zhong Huai's personality, he would definitely find a hundred reasons to push away such a thankless task.
Qin Zhan's gaze moved away from Zhong Huai and swept over the other team members present.
Finally, his gaze stopped on a man wearing gold-rimmed glasses who looked refined, appearing more like a clerical worker.
"Wen Yan."
The man named Wen Yan immediately stood up straight and took a step forward.
"Present!"
"You lead the team," Qin Zhan's command was concise and clear. "Your class has the highest affinity for the lightning element. It will be easier for you to find clues amidst the complex energy residues."
"Find the triggerer and find out everything about them."
Qin Zhan paused and added a crucial sentence.
"Remember our first principle: if they're a good prospect, bring them back. If not, try to make contact if possible and, at all costs, buy this Divine Revelation Mission from them."
A Divine Revelation Mission, especially one at the level of a primary god like the 'God of Thunder', was of incalculable value. If it could be brought under the military's control, its significance to the entire country would be strategic.
A flicker of nervousness and trepidation crossed Wen Yan's face.
"Commander-in-Chief, I... I've never handled a quest of this level before. I'm afraid..."
"Then go find Zhong Huai."
Qin Zhan interrupted him directly.
"He has experience. Have him tell you all the procedures, precautions, and potential pitfalls you might encounter."
The latter half of the sentence was directed at Zhong Huai.
Zhong Huai curled his lip. Although he looked completely unwilling, he still nodded.
"Understood."
"Everyone else, dismissed," Qin Zhan waved his hand. "Also, send out the word: the special research group regarding Linzhou City's abnormal weather is to be disbanded immediately."
With the order given, the oppressive atmosphere finally vanished completely. The team members dispersed in twos and threes, each face carrying the relief of having survived a disaster and a deep curiosity about the "Divine Revelation Mission."
The noise on the helipad was quickly receding like the tide.
The Fangs members scattered in small groups; the giant boulder weighing on everyone's hearts had finally been moved aside.
Only Wen Yan still stood rigidly in place, motionless.
The Commander-in-Chief's order, the researcher's fanatical roar, and the three words "Divine Revelation Mission" intertwined into a tangled mess, crashing around inside his head.
Find the triggerer.
Find out everything about them.
At all costs, buy the quest.
Every word was as heavy as a thousand pounds.
This was no longer an ordinary mission; it was a massive opportunity capable of changing the country's strategic landscape.
And this burden now rested on his shoulders.
Wen Yan felt a suffocating pressure.
He subconsciously turned his stiff neck, his gaze sweeping across the empty helipad, finally settling on that lazy figure leaning against the armored vehicle.
Zhong Huai.
He still had that half-dead look, hands in his pockets, head leaning against the cold metal, as if that global phenomenon just now—one worthy of the history books—wasn't as important as him taking a nap.
Wen Yan took a deep breath, stepped forward, and walked toward that figure.
This was the Commander-in-Chief's order.
He had to carry it out.
"Senior... Zhong Huai."
Wen Yan's voice was somewhat dry, carrying a nervousness he hadn't even noticed himself.
The man leaning against the vehicle didn't even bother to lift an eyelid.
"Don't call me senior. I hate feeling old."
A lazy response directly blocked Wen Yan's subsequent words.
"And don't come looking for me. I hate being bothered."
Wen Yan's footsteps faltered.
He stood three paces away from Zhong Huai, caught in a dilemma.
"But... the Commander-in-Chief said to come and ask for your guidance..."
"Sigh..."
Zhong Huai straightened up and let out a huge stretch, his joints letting out a series of crisp pops.
"Fine, fine. Look at that pathetic look on your face."
"Let your Brother Zhong Huai teach you properly~"
