62: Give them some space!

The man who effortlessly crippled Chen Rui's arms in the parking lot and destroyed half of it with a single move was completely different from the down-and-out, decadent Lin Yu Su Qingxue remembered.

She couldn't imagine what kind of scene it would be if these elders, who were still pontificating, knew about Lin Yu's actions and true strength.

Just then, her aunt's topic shifted to Lin Yu.

"Speaking of which, Xiao Yu is the same. With such great talent back then, he just had to be stubborn. Yao Yao, you absolutely must not learn from your brother. Look at him now..."

She didn't finish her sentence, but that sigh and the look filled with regret and blame said it all.

Everyone's gaze instantly focused on Lin Yu.

There was sympathy, ridicule, and a sense of 'he deserves it'.

"Yes," her second uncle took over, looking at Lin Yu and shaking his head, "Talent, sometimes, is also a curse. Ambitious but with a weak fate. Xiao Yu is the best example. Yao Yao, remember, mediocrity is a blessing."

Su Mother also added a timely remark.

"Xiao Yu, don't blame the elders for being blunt. Look at you now, twenty-three, no job, no education. What will you do in the future? You can't let your parents support you for your whole life, can you? How about letting your Aunt Su find you a security guard job? Although it's a bit tough, at least it's a proper job."

A group of relatives, one after another, chimed in.

The entire living room was filled with their nauseating "concern."

Lin Yu leaned in the corner of the sofa, head down, fingers rapidly sliding across his phone screen.

He was arranging matters, preparing thoroughly for the impending storm.

He didn't even bother to look up at the faces of those relatives.

Because there was no need.

Under the gaze of the [Eye of Analysis], every subtle movement, every muscle twitch, exposed their true inner thoughts.

When her aunt said, "absolutely must not learn from your brother," the corner of her eye shifted downwards and outwards, a typical expression of disdain mixed with schadenfreude.

When her second uncle said, "mediocrity is a blessing," he crossed his arms and leaned back slightly, a defensive posture that also asserted his status. Psychologically, he had already categorized Lin Yu's family as objects he needed to "look down upon."

And when Su Mother "kindly" offered a security guard job, her lips pressed together tightly, an uncontrollable signal of smugness. She felt a genuine satisfaction at the stark contrast between her daughter's future and the "misfortune" of the Lin family's children.

Lin Yao couldn't listen anymore.

She broke free from her parents' embrace and quietly retorted.

"No... my profession... actually isn't that bad..."

She wanted to say that she had awakened a Mythic-tier profession.

She wanted to say that her brother wasn't crazy; he had his own plans.

But she didn't know how to start.

All the words were stuck in her throat.

The glory brought by that Mythic-tier profession now only left a heavy pressure.

"Oh, Yao Yao, you child..."

Her aunt immediately interrupted her, with an expression that said, "I've seen right through you."

"I know you're upset and unwilling to accept it. But facts are facts; avoiding them is useless."

"Your brother back then just refused to accept reality, and that's why..."

Her second uncle also shook his head and sighed.

"Right, trying to save face forcefully is the most meaningless thing. Look at how dejected you were when you came in; everyone's eyes are sharp. Yao Yao, listen to your second uncle's advice: recognizing reality early will do you good."

They didn't give Lin Yao a chance to explain.

Or rather, they didn't believe any explanation at all.

They only believed what they saw, and what they wanted to believe.

That is, the Lin family's talented daughter had failed her awakening!

The Lin family, with their two excellent children, were now both ruined.

What could be more gratifying than this?

This gave them a morbid, heartfelt pleasure.

Lin Yao's face turned crimson, tears welling up in her eyes, from anger and grievance.

She felt as if she had fallen into a large net woven from "concern," and no matter how she struggled, it was futile.

Su Mother looked at Lin Yao's "stubborn" appearance, her face showing even more "regret." She cleared her throat, preparing to "instruct" this ignorant child as someone who had been through it all.

"Yao Yao, it's not me criticizing you, but your mindset is wrong. People, what they fear most is not knowing themselves. Do you think being a professional is that easy? Look at your brother..."

Her words once again turned to Lin Yu, carrying a condescending tone of judgment.

"So what if he awakened an Epic-tier profession? In the end, wasn't he still..."

"Mom!"

Su Qingxue couldn't hold back anymore.

She grabbed her mother's arm and pulled her back forcefully.

Her movements were quick and urgent, carrying a trace of undisguised panic.

Everyone present was stunned.

Su Mother was also bewildered by her daughter's sudden action, and she turned back unhappily.

"Qingxue, what are you doing? I'm just teaching your sister Yao Yao..."

"Stop talking!"

Su Qingxue's voice was trembling.

Her eyes were fixed on the man sitting in the corner of the sofa, who had not said a word from beginning to end, only constantly scrolling on his phone.

Lin Yu.

The elders present only saw a down-and-out, decadent, taciturn young man.

A failure.

A negative example.

But only Su Qingxue, only she alone, had witnessed it firsthand.

She had seen the power of professionals, witnessed their cruelty, and also witnessed Lin Yu's formidable strength.

"Mom, please say less! Brother Yu, he..."

Su Mother was confused by her daughter's nervous demeanor and felt that she had lost face in front of everyone, her expression a bit awkward.

"What's wrong with you today, child? Your brother, your brother, he's like this now, what's wrong with me saying a few words to him? I'm doing it for his own good!"

"I..."

Su Qingxue was so anxious she was almost in tears.

Only she knew that Lin Yu only needed to move a finger to electrocute this room full of noisy ordinary people into a pulp.

Su Mother was thoroughly enraged by her daughter's distraught appearance. She tried to forcefully shake off Su Qingxue's hand, but found her daughter's strength astonishing.

"Are you crazy, child! Let go! I'm also doing it for his own good; if I don't say a few words to him, his whole life will be ruined!"

Su Qingxue ignored her mother. She suddenly turned her head and, facing all the elders in the living room, spoke quickly in an almost pleading tone.

"Auntie Lin, uncles, aunties..."

"It's getting late, Yao Yao just finished her awakening, she must be tired. Uncle Lin and Auntie Lin have also been worried all day. Shouldn't we... shouldn't we let them have some time to talk among themselves as a family?"

Her brain was working at high speed.

Space.

Yes, give them space as a family.

This was the only reason she could think of to pull these elders, who were oblivious to the danger, back from the edge of the cliff.

This reason was reasonable, logical, and full of "understanding."

While Su Qingxue was doing her best to persuade everyone.

Outside the community, at some unknown point, it had become noisy.

It was the buzzing sound that only occurs when large crowds gather.

Lin Yao's profession rarity was even higher than her brother's; how could it not cause a sensation outside?

This scene was just like five years ago.
