135: He called me, so I went out.

“Tell him to come over!”

Chen Ao’s voice, filled with unparalleled arrogance, echoed over the silent Western District.

The six elemental spheres surrounding him emanated a suffocating pressure, making him appear like a deity wielding the power of life and death.

Li Mo stood behind him, his face hidden beneath his hood, showing no change in expression.

Chen Ao’s subordinates, after a brief moment of shock, erupted in a fervor as if they had escaped a disaster.

Master Ao is Master Ao!

Even if the opponent was extremely sinister, even if some powerful figure might be behind him, Master Ao was not afraid in the slightest!

He even voluntarily stopped, giving the opponent a chance to call for help!

What confidence! What dominance!

Behind the Obsidian Shield, Wang Han’s body trembled like a fallen leaf in the autumn wind.

He clapped his hand over Wang Qingxuan’s mouth, not allowing her to make a sound, but his own teeth chattered uncontrollably.

Crazy.

All of them are crazy!

He had never imagined that the world of professionals, as told in legends, was so unreasonable, so bloody and terrifying.

A disagreement would immediately lead to a world-shattering battle.

Now, the man named Chen Ao even wanted to wait here for an unknown “boss” to arrive.

And then what?

Another even more terrifying slaughter?

Wang Han didn't dare to think further; he only felt waves of bone-deep chill that almost made him faint.

However, amidst this deadly silence shrouded by absolute power,

An untimely voice rang out.

“Heh… heheh…”

It was Old Ghost.

He knelt in the ruins, cradling Seventh Master’s cold corpse, and suddenly let out a low laugh.

The laughter, at first, was light and suppressed, filled with sorrow.

But soon, it grew louder and more unrestrained.

“Haha… Hahahahaha!”

Old Ghost raised his head, his graying hair wildly dancing in the wind, and he pointed at the arrogant figure in mid-air, laughing until tears streamed down his face.

“Chen Ao, oh Chen Ao, you put on quite a show!”

This sudden mockery instantly froze the atmosphere.

Chen Ao’s face, etched with arrogance, paused slightly.

“Look at you, saying the cruelest words, putting on the proudest airs, but what’s the result?”

Old Ghost’s laughter abruptly stopped, replaced by a mocking tone that saw through everything.

“You don’t dare to kill him!”

He pointed at the broken asura dharma body, enunciating each word.

“You’re scared!”

“You’re afraid that my boss will really come knocking and wipe you and your dilapidated black market from Linzhou!”

“That’s why you’re putting on an act here! Who are you acting for? Are you acting for yourself?!”

Every word was a stab to the heart.

If the previous “certain death” was merely a prophecy,

Then now, it was a blatant tearing apart of Chen Ao’s disguise of “king,” trampled underfoot in public!

“You’re courting death!”

Chen Ao was finally completely enraged.

The last trace of playful condescension on his face vanished without a trace.

It was replaced by a volcanic eruption of fury!

Boom!

The six elemental spheres surrounding him flared with intense light!

Terrifying energy fluctuations transformed into a tangible storm, sweeping in all directions!

“Very well!”

Chen Ao’s chest heaved violently, each word squeezed out from between his teeth.

“Since you’re so eager to see your boss, I’ll send you to meet the King of Hell first!”

“I’ll crush you, this loyal subordinate, and your precious little darling, together!”

“Then I’ll mix your ashes together and scatter them on this street!”

“I’d like to see what he can do to me when he arrives!”

Killing intent!

Pure, undisguised killing intent!

This time, Chen Ao was truly set on killing.

He slowly raised his hand, his palm aimed at the already tottering asura dharma body.

The gray chaotic energy sphere that had just dissipated was about to reform.

Destruction was imminent.

Wang Han felt his heart being tightly gripped by an invisible hand, and his breathing stopped.

He was finished.

Everyone was finished.

This man named Chen Ao would truly raze this place to the ground.

Just as Wang Han fell into complete despair,

A warm hand gently rested on his cold, stiff shoulder.

He trembled violently and turned his head.

It was Lin Yu.

“Uncle Wang.”

Lin Yu’s face showed no trace of tension or fear; he remained as calm as ever.

“You and Wang Qingxuan stay here; don’t move around.”

Wang Han was stunned.

He looked at Lin Yu, then at the apocalyptic scene outside the shield, his mind a blank.

“You… what are you going to do?”

Wang Han’s voice became sharp with extreme fear, and he desperately grabbed Lin Yu’s arm.

“Lin Yu! Don’t do anything reckless! It’s… out there now…”

He was incoherent, unable to describe the horror outside.

That was not something ordinary people like them could get involved in!

Lin Yu, however, merely smiled faintly, gently patted the back of Wang Han’s hand, reassuring him.

Then, facing Wang Han’s terrified and bewildered gaze, he said something the latter couldn’t fully comprehend.

“He called me.”

“How can I not go out?”

Wang Han was utterly bewildered.

He stood with his mouth agape, staring blankly at Lin Yu, his mind completely unable to process it.

“What do you mean?”

He asked subconsciously.

“Who… who called you?”

Lin Yu did not answer.

He simply turned around, facing the massive and heavy Obsidian Shield.

Wang Han still wanted to ask something else.

But then he saw Lin Yu calmly take a step forward.

There was no earth-shattering commotion.

The indestructible Obsidian Shield, which had withstood countless destructive impacts, silently melted away in front of him, creating an opening just wide enough for one person to pass through.

Like a silent curtain of water, it cleared the path for its master.

Lin Yu’s figure passed through the shield just like that.

One step.

And he went from absolute safety to the center of the storm.

He stood upon the ravaged ruins, directly in front of Chen Ao’s towering killing intent.

The external clamor, the fierce wind, and the suffocating energy pressure instantly assailed him.

Lin Yu’s casual clothes flapped loudly in the wind.

His appearance was so sudden, yet so natural.

So much so that everyone on the battlefield paused for a moment at that instant.

Chen Ao, who was about to condense the chaotic energy sphere, stopped his hand movements.

Behind him, Li Mo, who had always been calm, for the first time fully focused his gaze from beneath his hood on this suddenly appearing young man.

In the ruins, Old Ghost, who was holding Seventh Master’s corpse and acting like a madman, also stopped his curses and stared blankly.

Even the asura dharma body in the sky, which only had the instinct for destruction, paused imperceptibly in its wild flailing of arms.
