149: Post-event arrangements
Li Mo did not ask why.
He also had no need to ask.
The survival instinct he had developed in the Abyss Domain told him that the best way to deal with such an incomprehensible existence was to obey.
To obey without compromise, with two hundred percent effort.
"I understand."
Li Mo didn't even wipe the blood from his face; he had already entered a terrifyingly efficient working state.
He pulled out a strangely shaped black communicator and his fingers tapped rapidly on it.
It wasn't any phone available on the market.
"Three days from now, at 2:15 PM."
"Location: The 'Celestial Realm' revolving restaurant on the top floor of Linzhou Tower."
Li Mo stated the time and place without the slightest hesitation, as if he wasn't arranging a meeting that would decide the future of Linzhou's business world, but merely booking a regular table.
He hadn't even consulted with those three companies.
But he had that confidence.
He, Li Mo, would "invite" those three people in his own name.
They wouldn't dare not to come.
Lin Yu was noncommittal about this.
A gesture of tacit approval.
For an existence of his level, the process was meaningless; he only needed to see the result.
A "tool" like Li Mo, who could handle things properly, was indeed convenient to use.
After dealing with this matter, Lin Yu no longer looked at him.
His gaze shifted to the other side, falling on Seventh Master, who was held tightly in Old Ghost's arms.
"Seventh Master, how do you feel?"
"Cough... cough cough..." Seventh Master struggled to sit up, but Old Ghost pressed him down.
He grinned, revealing a smile missing a few teeth, but his voice was surprisingly strong.
"I'm not going to die! Boss, I feel full of energy; I can go and tear down Chen Ao's bastard's lair right now!"
As he spoke, he even waved his fist, stirring up a light breeze.
His body's recovery speed exceeded his own imagination.
The moment that light descended, he felt his parched body being immersed in the Spring of Life, and every cell was cheering.
Old Ghost felt the vitality of his comrade in his arms; the tear stains on his old face hadn't dried, yet he couldn't help but smile again.
"Alright, alright, you're so capable."
Lin Yu nodded.
With Vitality Nourishment at the Origin tier as the base, combined with the Primordial-tier Redemption of Light, recovering to this extent was within expectations.
"No rush."
Lin Yu's arrangements were very clear.
"First, fix Old Ghost Hall."
"As for the territory Chen Ao left behind, if you have the spare capacity, take it over. If not, leave it; it won't rot."
His words were very calm.
That vast power vacuum, enough to drive all of Linzhou's underground forces mad, was merely a scrap that could be discarded at will in his words.
Old Ghost and Seventh Master exchanged glances, both seeing immense shock and fanaticism in each other's eyes.
This was the Boss they followed.
The bigger picture.
"Yes, Boss!"
The two spoke in unison, their voices filled with unprecedented drive.
Especially Seventh Master, after coming back from the dead, he only wanted to dedicate himself to the Boss.
Li Mo listened silently from the side, a storm raging in his heart.
He once again updated his understanding of this new Boss.
Controlling Linzhou's black market, what immense profit and power that entailed.
Yet the Boss's attitude was like dealing with an unimportant triviality.
What exactly did he want?
Money? Power?
Neither seemed to be the case.
Then what did he intend to do by meeting the three major pharmaceutical merchants?
Li Mo dared not think further; he merely lowered his posture even more.
Arrangements made.
Lin Yu's gaze shifted from Li Mo and Old Ghost.
He walked towards the other end of the ruins.
Wang Han was tightly holding his daughter, using his not-so-broad back to shield her from the hellish scene.
Wang Qingxuan's body was still trembling, her face deeply buried in her father's arms, not daring to look at anything outside.
Lin Yu's footsteps were very light, almost making no sound as he stepped on the rubble.
"Uncle."
He spoke.
Wang Han's body stiffened abruptly, and he slowly turned his head.
His refined face was now filled with complex emotions beyond words. There was fear, bewilderment, disbelief, and a hint of... detachment.
He looked at Lin Yu before him, this nephew he had watched grow up, yet felt an immense unfamiliarity.
"Xiao... Xiao Yu..."
Wang Han's voice was dry, his Adam's apple bobbing, but he couldn't utter a complete sentence.
What should he ask?
Ask about the world-destroying lightning just now?
Ask why Li Mo, the CEO of Qingyun Pharmaceutical, would kneel at his feet?
Or ask why he could resurrect the dead?
Every question exceeded his fifty-plus years of life experience.
"It's alright now," Lin Yu's answer was simple, "I'll have someone send you back."
He didn't explain.
Some things couldn't be explained, nor did they need to be explained.
Wang Han opened his mouth, but ultimately swallowed all his questions. He just instinctively held his daughter a little tighter.
Lin Yu's gaze passed over Wang Han and his daughter, once again turning towards the not-so-distant area.
There, Li Mo was following Old Ghost closely.
"Old Sir," Li Mo's posture was extremely low, even somewhat fawning, "You see, now that the Boss's matters are arranged, why don't... I take you to see it first?"
He spoke tentatively.
"Shuian Huacheng isn't far from here, a maximum of half an hour by car. Your son's auto repair shop is also only about forty minutes away."
Li Mo had calculated everything clearly.
This was his best, and only, opportunity to show favor to his new master.
Helping Old Ghost find his family—this credit, neither big nor small, was enough for him to establish his first step in this new group.
Old Ghost's steps paused.
He didn't turn around.
He just stood still, holding the still-recovering Seventh Master in his arms, motionless.
Above the ruins, the wind howled.
Li Mo held his breath, waiting.
Seventh Master stirred in Old Ghost's arms, seemingly wanting to say something, but after looking at his old comrade's stiff back, he ultimately chose silence.
A long time passed.
Old Ghost finally spoke.
"No need."
Two words, cold and hard, like stones dredged from an ice cellar.
Li Mo was stunned.
"Old Sir, this..."
"I said no need!"
Old Ghost suddenly raised his voice, turning abruptly, his bloodshot eyes fixed on Li Mo.
"What the Boss assigns is a matter of paramount importance!"
"Fixing Old Ghost Hall, integrating the black market, meeting with the three major companies! Which of these isn't more important than my trivial matters?"
His chest heaved violently, almost roaring as he spoke these words.
"My family matters are nothing!"
"Before the Boss's great endeavor, they are worthless!"
His words were righteous and loyal.
Li Mo was somewhat bewildered by this sudden outburst of anger; he instinctively took half a step back, bowing repeatedly.
"Yes, yes! I was foolish! Old Sir's lesson is correct! Everything for the Boss's great endeavor!"
He dared not mention another word.
Why hadn't he noticed before... this Old Ghost's temper was truly not small.
