269: Qin Zhan is coming!

Zhong Huai hummed a little tune and set off.

His casual, nonchalant manner made it seem as if he wasn't going to handle a crisis that could trigger a diplomatic conflict, but rather just dropping by a neighbor's house.

Director Wang's heart was in his throat, and the law enforcement recorder in his arms was so hot it made his palms sweat.

He won.

But it also seemed like he hadn't.

Just as Zhong Huai's hand was about to touch Yan Xing's ring.

*Thud—*

A footstep as heavy as a mountain echoed from the entrance of the park.

Just a single step.

But it made the air at the scene freeze instantly.

The moment they heard that footstep, all the members of the Fangs Special Operations Team stiffened, standing perfectly still.

It was an instinctive reaction etched into their bones.

The smile on Zhong Huai's face froze.

His cheerful humming also came to an abrupt halt.

Damn it.

Zhong Huai's teeth felt a bit sore.

How did this god get summoned here? He had clearly suppressed the matter; what was he doing here?

Before he could figure it out.

A figure had already appeared in everyone's sight.

The man wore the same combat uniform as the Fangs members, but his aura was completely different.

Just by standing there, he was like an immovable mountain; his heavy pressure made the surrounding air feel viscous.

"Captain!"

Zhong Huai's subordinates from the Fangs team snapped to attention in unison, shouting the title with all their might.

The newcomer was none other than the Commander-in-Chief of the Fangs Special Operations Team, Qin Zhan!

The moment Director Wang saw Qin Zhan, the dying embers of hope flared up again!

Qin Zhan!

This was the Commander-in-Chief of the Fangs! He was a truly powerful figure in the military!

No matter how much Zhong Huai fooled around, he had to restrain himself in front of Qin Zhan!

Rules, after all, were rules!

"Captain Qin! You've come at just the right time!"

Director Wang, as if grasping at a straw, scrambled over with a sob in his voice.

"Captain Zhong is perverting the law, openly shielding Abyss Domain smugglers, and..."

He couldn't finish his sentence.

Qin Zhan didn't even spare him a glance; he simply walked past him, the gust of wind he carried making the director stumble and nearly fall.

Qin Zhan's gaze, like a hawk's, was locked firmly on Zhong Huai.

"Old Fourth... Zhong Huai."

His voice wasn't loud, but it carried an unquestionable authority.

"What on earth are you doing?"

Zhong Huai grimaced, showing a smile that looked worse than crying.

"Boss, why are you here? It's just a small matter, I can handle it."

"A small matter?"

Qin Zhan snorted coldly.

He knew Old Fourth too well.

This kid Zhong Huai was as slippery as a loach; he would never stand if he could lie down, and he would never hold onto a hot potato if he could kick it away.

Whenever there was even a bit of trouble, he would have reported it immediately to shift the blame entirely.

Today, he actually chose to suppress the matter all by himself.

This could only mean one thing.

This matter wasn't something he wanted to suppress, but something he had to suppress!

There was someone or something involved that even he couldn't afford to provoke, or rather, couldn't handle by the rules!

Qin Zhan wasn't at ease, so he came.

But more importantly, he feared Zhong Huai was suppressing this for his sake.

Zhong Huai had an incredible background and wasn't afraid of trouble; he didn't care about most messes.

Even if it were a massive issue, Zhong Huai would likely pass the buck.

The only situation where he wouldn't pass it off was if it concerned Fangs, or rather, if it concerned Qin Zhan himself.

"I'll ask one more time."

Qin Zhan's pressure suddenly intensified.

"What exactly happened here?"

A trace of cold sweat seeped from Zhong Huai's forehead.

In front of Qin Zhan, his skill at playing both sides was completely useless.

He knew he couldn't hide it anymore.

Rather than letting Qin Zhan investigate himself, it was better to confess proactively.

Zhong Huai took a deep breath and quickly recounted what had just happened in the simplest language.

Of course, he left out the part about Lin Yu, only mentioning the conflict between the Visitors from the Abyss Domain and Customs.

After hearing this, Qin Zhan's brow furrowed into a deep frown.

"Is that all?"

He clearly didn't believe it.

Simply being wary of two Visitors from the Abyss Domain wouldn't be enough to make Zhong Huai act this way.

Yan Xing and Shadow's hearts were in their throats once again.

They had heard of Qin Zhan's fame even in the Abyss Domain.

This was a truly ruthless man who had fought his way out of mountains of corpses and seas of blood, far more terrifying than an obscure Squad Leader like Zhong Huai.

If it came to a real fight, even with them here, they might not be able to escape unscathed.

If he were to take it seriously... Director Wang looked at Qin Zhan with anticipation, waiting for him to erupt in thunderous rage and execute Captain Zhong and those two Abyss people on the spot.

However.

Zhong Huai's next move caused everyone's anticipation and tension to vanish into thin air.

He didn't offer any further explanation.

He just turned slightly and tilted his chin toward the Young Man who had been standing outside the circle from beginning to end, as if none of it concerned him.

"Boss."

Zhong Huai's tone carried a sense of relief, as if a weight had been lifted.

"Let me introduce you."

"This is Mr. Lin Yu."

In an instant.

Qin Zhan's near-tangible oppressive aura suddenly retracted.

His gaze swept past everyone and landed on Lin Yu.

Scrutiny, doubt, and then realization.

Finally, all emotions transformed into an extreme solemnity and... respect.

Qin Zhan understood.

He instantly understood all of Zhong Huai's abnormal behavior.

No wonder!

No wonder this kid would rather endure the pressure to suppress the matter!

So it's because this person is here!

If it's him, then everything makes sense.

In the dead silence of the entire scene.

Qin Zhan, the Commander-in-Chief of the Fangs Special Operations Team and one of the top combat powers of the Blue Star military.

He solemnly and slightly bowed his head to the Young Man who looked to be barely twenty.

"Mr. Lin."

Boom!

This "Mr. Lin" was like a bolt of lightning from the clear sky, exploding in the minds of Director Wang, Yan Xing, Shadow, and everyone else who was in the dark.

Director Wang's body swayed; he was completely stunned.

The color drained from his face, leaving only a deathly gray.

Zhong Huai... fine.

Qin Zhan! That's Qin Zhan!

Why would he... be so respectful to a Young Man?!

What on earth has happened to this world?

Meanwhile, Yan Xing and Shadow's reactions were even more intense.

Their brains had completely stalled.

Zhong Huai didn't have much of a reputation in the Abyss Domain.

But Qin Zhan was different!

This name was well-known among the top power circles of the Abyss Domain!

He was the kind of terrifying existence that would be classified as a high-threat level once he entered the Abyss Domain!

And according to the files, Qin Zhan was terrifyingly strong and incredibly arrogant.

Even someone like him had to be respectful to Mr. Lin Yu?

His previous guesses about Lin Yu's background had been bold and outrageous enough.

Now it seemed... they were still too conservative!

Meanwhile, Lin Yu, at the center of the storm, was a bit bewildered.

To be honest, he didn't even know who Zhong Huai was, so where did this Qin Zhan come from?

Are these two very familiar with me?
