110: Chapter 110 Solving the Return-to-City Problem

Under the pressure of the Five Element Orb, ripples like water waves surged across the surface of the black sphere, followed by the shooting out of a large number of black silk threads that entangled the Five Element Orb.

Nie Ning made a decisive decision, a flash of gray crossing his eyes as the Five Element Orb rapidly transformed into a gray sphere.

‘Boom!’

The Corrupted Elemental Sphere exploded, and the deafening blast echoed throughout the ruins.

The terrifying energy impact shattered the formation barrier and simultaneously dispersed the Black Tide.

As the black sphere was at the center of the explosion, the damage caused by the Corrupted Elemental Sphere was maximized.

A flash of gray light passed, and Nie Ning squinted his eyes, faintly able to see a figure flickering in the center of the explosion.

But everything happened too fast; in just a split second, that black figure turned into dust and vanished within the explosion.

When the explosion subsided, the sky was filled with drifting dust, and the energy of the blast had collapsed the roof above the hall.

Nie Ning, protected by the black trees, had not suffered much impact damage.

As the black trees were moved aside by the Jerky Bear Head, a ray of sunlight shone on Nie Ning's face.

But suddenly, a dark shadow darted out of the dust and rushed rapidly toward Nie Ning.

Before Nie Ning could see what it was, the Jerky Bear Head opened its mouth wide and swallowed the shadow in one gulp.

While the Jerky Bear Head chewed, Nie Ning could feel the residual malice in the surroundings slowly dissipating.

Nie Ning froze for two seconds, then couldn't help but scratch his head, looking up at the Jerky Bear Head above him.

Coming back to his senses, a smile appeared on Nie Ning's face: "It seems luck is on my side today; I eliminated a Corruptor so easily."

Although today had been full of twists and turns, the ending was much easier than imagined.

It seemed the black sphere had been sealed for too long, causing its strength to weaken.

Or perhaps all of the black sphere's abilities were tied to the Black Tide, which was why it could be resolved so easily.

Regardless, at the very least, it was true that the Corruptor had been eliminated.

Otherwise, once the black sphere escaped, judging by the capabilities of the Black Tide, the entire Ska City would likely have been strewn with corpses.

"However..."

Nie Ning rubbed his chin, feeling somewhat puzzled: "Was that thing's true form a sphere or a person?"

Recalling the humanoid phantom in the explosion, Nie Ning couldn't figure out what it was for a moment.

Soon, Nie Ning's attention returned to the staff in his hand.

The amplification effect of this staff was very high, providing nearly a twenty percent bonus to Spiritual Power.

If switched to the light element, the effect would be even stronger.

"Not bad, this really makes me look like a Wizard."

Nie Ning nodded with satisfaction and then stored the staff into his spatial ring.

Next, Nie Ning patrolled the vicinity, collecting some weapons and armor as spoils of war along the way.

After confirming there was no malice or large concentrations of corrupted aura, the cautious Nie Ning built a small hut outside the Magic-Weak Zone to recover his mana.

After all, Corruptors were strange and unpredictable; being careful was only right.

If no abnormalities appeared tonight, he could head back directly tomorrow.

...

A day and a half later.

After confirming there were no problems, Nie Ning rushed back to Ska City.

Nie Ning first returned to Hervais Manor; Lilith was fine, but he was mocked sarcastically by Norma.

Because he had taken leave using a blind date as an excuse, returning alone made him "unwanted" in Norma's words.

Fortunately, Nie Ning was in a good mood and didn't bother to argue with the little girl.

Moreover, the Moon Goddess who descended last time had been a huge help in resolving that unknown demon.

Generally speaking, only those with high affinity could allow a deity to possess them; in Ska City, only Norma met the requirements for descent, and it was almost impossible for a Church Holy Son or Holy Daughter to be here otherwise.

...

After visiting Lilith, Nie Ning returned to the City Lord's Mansion under the cover of night.

Even though it was already night, the City Lord's Mansion was exceptionally lively.

Because of the Corruptor situation, if a problem arose, the help of the city's families would be needed, so Valk had invited the city's families for a discussion.

Everyone was part of a community of interests, so unless absolutely necessary, no one would be willing to abandon their vast family businesses and leave Ska City.

If the Corruptor in Wantai Forest hadn't died, once it grew, it would likely be comparable to a demon.

This wasn't alarmist talk; after all, the combined powerhouses in the city weren't as numerous as the Blood Flame Knights Association, so they were simply not qualified to fight that Corruptor.

Unless the The Federation or the Crimson Holy Blade were willing to dispatch High-level Wizards here.

...

"Mr. Bronk is back!"

Horun, the City Lord's butler, led Nie Ning into the hall.

At this time, the family heads of the city and some High-Tier Knights were sitting in the living room.

Among them was even someone Nie Ning knew, Viscount Spindu.

Seeing Nie Ning return, the people in the hall stood up one after another to welcome him.

Times had changed; now, Nie Ning's status in Ska City was equal to the City Lord, and perhaps even slightly higher.

For these family lords, the terror of a Corruptor was not something ordinary people could deal with; even Wizard Apprentices had died in batches.

At such a time, the help of a Official Wizard was needed.

Even if Nie Ning's strength was not as great as Audrey's, it was not something an ordinary Great Knight could compare to.

"Mr. Bronk, I wonder how the Corruptor in Wantai Forest is doing?"

After Valk invited Nie Ning to sit down, he inquired about the situation in Wantai Forest.

The others pricked up their ears, their gazes involuntarily turning toward Nie Ning.

Even the Blood Flame Knights Association had been wiped out; if Nie Ning failed, they could only prepare to evacuate or see if the The Federation had any response.

"Don't worry, that Corruptor was trapped within a formation and had been weakened significantly over several hundred years; I used the formation there to resolve it."

Nie Ning waved his hand, signaling everyone to be at ease.

Hearing this, the people in the living room breathed a sigh of relief, and the expressions on their faces relaxed considerably.

They were all long-standing powers in the city, and their entire family fortunes were here; they couldn't imagine how difficult life would be if they left.

"The Lord Wizard is truly young and promising, to even be able to resolve the Corruptor that wiped out the Blood Flame Knights Association. Having the Lord guarding Ska City is a blessing for the people of the city."

Spindu stood up, his wrinkled face full of smiles as he complimented Nie Ning.

Nie Ning couldn't help but look at Spindu twice.

This guy was truly adaptable; he remembered that the last time they met, this guy was even more arrogant than Norma, unwilling to say even a single word to them.

"Thank you for the compliment. If there's nothing else, I'll be taking my leave. Also, please trouble the City Lord to inform the The Federation so they don't need to apply for reinforcements."

Seeing that the people present wanted to flatter him, Nie Ning offered a polite remark and then walked toward the exit of the hall.

For him, having this time would be better spent going back to cultivate.

Once his strength improved further, wouldn't it be even more satisfying to hear those powerhouses flatter him?

Besides, he had things to do; staying here was just a waste of time.
