352: Chapter 352 Random Thoughts
Jerry and the early-stage Fifth-Order Wizard were attracted by the sounds of fighting and looked up into the distance.
At that very moment, several blood-colored tentacles extended from the swamp beneath their feet, attacking Jerry and the other wizard.
Apparently not expecting a sneak attack, both of them were a beat slow in their reactions.
Their legs were bound by the blood-colored tentacles, but Jerry drew the longsword from his waist at the critical moment, its sharp blade slicing right through them.
"How can there be Corruptors here!?"
Jerry looked at the twitching tentacles in the swamp below with a look of astonishment.
The probability of encountering a Corruptor in the wild was truly very low.
Even if one was found, the location was likely a former town that had been destroyed, and most of those Corruptors were usually in a sealed state.
"Something's not right!"
The other Fifth-Order Corruptor looked around with a heavy expression, faintly sensing that the atmosphere was off.
Just as the two were making wild guesses, a vast amount of black substance emerged from the mountain forest, surging toward them like a tide.
Feeling the immense Power of Corruption contained within the Black Tide, the two did not dare to linger and quickly fled upward.
For them, fighting a Corruptor was undoubtedly the most foolish decision; a single moment of carelessness could lead to being tainted by the Power of Corruption.
But just then, a massive Flesh Spider emerged from the ground, its extended tentacles attacking the Fifth-Order Wizard traveling with Jerry.
The Fifth-Order Wizard was already prepared, unfolding an orange and green shield to protect himself.
The blood-colored tentacles wrapped around the barrier, emitting a 'puchi' sizzling sound upon contact.
The Flesh Spider's strength was immense, and for a moment, the Fifth-Order Wizard was actually unable to pull away.
Nearby, Jerry wanted to step forward and help, but as he rushed toward the Fifth-Order Wizard, he suddenly slammed into a transparent barrier.
"What's going on?! A Sealing Barrier?"
Jerry steadied himself, immediately thinking of the seals used to contain Corruptors.
Some Corruptors were extremely difficult to deal with, making it necessary to use large-scale seals to isolate the entire area they occupied.
At this moment, Jerry had not yet realized that someone was controlling the Corruptors.
Gazing at the crystalline barrier before him, Jerry didn't know how to handle it for a moment.
If he broke the seal, it was very likely he would release the Corruptors sealed here.
Even the Corrupted Clones that had escaped felt extraordinary; if the seal were broken, no one knew what might happen.
But not breaking the seal was clearly not an option, as he was already inside it, and the difficulty of breaking out was extremely high.
By now, the Black Tide had already reached the vicinity of the Fifth-Order Wizard.
The Black Tide possessed unparalleled corrosiveness; in an instant, the Fifth-Order Wizard's shield was stained a semi-gray color.
The Fifth-Order Wizard's expression tightened slightly. As he reached out, a green magic circle appeared before him, followed by a surge of green light that formed a Green Eagle Beast.
As the Green Eagle Beast flapped its wings, the resulting wind pressure blasted the Black Tide back dozens of meters.
Just as the Green Eagle Beast was about to use its sharp talons to sever the blood-colored tentacles, a swarm of small spiders jumped out of the Black Tide, landing on the eagle one after another.
Relying on the Power of Corruption they carried, they burrowed into the Green Eagle Beast like venomous insects.
The Fifth-Order Wizard frowned slightly: "A bit troublesome."
The most terrifying things about Corruptors were their powerful vitality and the headache-inducing Power of Corruption; once tainted, the consequences were unthinkable.
The Fifth-Order Wizard snapped his fingers. The moment the small spiders drew close, the Green Eagle Beast detonated, and the resulting shockwave blasted the small spiders into pools of minced meat.
The Black Tide surged once more, the Power of Corruption it carried feeling terrifying.
Seeing this, Jerry could no longer care whether this was a seal or not; his priority now was to leave this area first.
Thinking of this, Jerry glanced strangely at the three Transcendents fighting in the distance.
He had clearly seen two people before; had the other one gone into hiding?
But that was normal; after all, that person was only Fourth-Order. If they didn't hide, they probably wouldn't be able to withstand the aftershocks of the battle.
Moreover, it seemed those two had deliberately lured them to this Corruptor sealing ground.
Battle Qi surged within Jerry's body, and the silver longsword in his hand shimmered with a sharp, cold light as he prepared to leave this area first.
For he had a faint, ominous premonition.
Just as Jerry was about to break the barrier, another large Flesh Spider crawled out from the swamp below.
Seeing this, Jerry gritted his teeth, still intending to break the barrier first.
But in that moment of distraction, several various wizard spells lit up behind Jerry.
Jerry thought the Fourth-Order hiding in the shadows had attacked. Forced to give up on breaking the barrier, he dodged the Flesh Spider while swinging a blade of sword qi toward the source of the spells.
'Bang!'
The ground was blasted open, and a bizarre, humanoid creature with dark red blood-tentacles was blown out.
Watching the strange humanoid creature's body rapidly repair itself, Jerry couldn't help but widen his eyes.
'Just how many Corruptors are sealed here!'
What was even more chilling upon deeper reflection was that he had lived in this area for so long and had never heard of there being so many sealed Corruptors here!
Logically, for something this significant, if the Dark Swamp had handled it, they would surely have notified the nearby factions.
This was a common tactic of the Dark Swamp.
If a seal was broken, the nearby factions would be forced to deal with it.
And if they didn't...
Either way, they had to choose: fight the Corruptors or fight the Dark Swamp.
Now that there were at least two Corruptors sealed here, they logically shouldn't have been unaware of it.
Was it because the sealed Corruptors were too strong, and the Dark Swamp feared someone might sabotage the seals?
Jerry's thoughts raced for a moment, but he couldn't figure out why.
At this thought, Jerry's face darkened, and he felt an even more urgent desire to leave this eerie place.
By now, the Corrupted Wizard had recovered.
This Corruptor, born with the help of a Human-Faced Balloon, naturally possessed extraordinary recovery abilities.
The moment it recovered, it attacked Jerry once again.
Meanwhile, the Flesh Spider was not idle either; leaping lightly like a balloon, its body was already in the air.
Jerry took a deep breath, his Battle Qi forming a translucent aura around him.
With the boost of a special technique, Jerry's speed surged as he charged straight toward the barrier, intending to break through it first and regroup with the others.
Jerry erupted with extreme speed, dodging the attacks of both the Corrupted Wizard and the Flesh Spider.
Just as Jerry swung his sword to slash at the barrier, a streak of white light appeared beside him, and a white Light Spear abruptly exploded with terrifying energy fluctuations.
'Boom!'
Like a kite with its string cut, Jerry was blasted into the mountain forest below.
