5: Chapter 5 Unconsciousness

In the clash between the two sides, Nie Ning pounded the Flesh Spider's body into a puddle of meat in just a few moments.

However, Nie Ning was also seriously injured, his back whipped into a bloody mess by the fleshy tentacles.

By now, Nie Ning had already exited his Strange Beast Body state. Panting heavily, he stared with a solemn expression at the still-writhing meat paste.

Although he knew this was a world with Transcendents, this miraculous level of vitality was unheard of, completely transcending the boundaries of normal life.

It appeared as if he had subdued the Flesh Spider, but Nie Ning knew this was only temporary.

Once this mass of meat paste recovered, he estimated it would be very difficult to defeat in his current state.

Worse still, he felt as if his consciousness had been whipped; his head throbbed with a splitting pain, and he felt unbearably nauseous.

Nie Ning already felt the urge to retreat.

He didn't know if he had been poisoned; right now, he only wanted to leave this place of trouble as quickly as possible. As for what kind of impact this thing would cause, it was no longer something he could worry about.

Thinking of this, Nie Ning slowly backed away.

Just as he turned around to flee, he suddenly noticed an anomaly.

At some point, the surrounding mist had mostly dissipated. The distant buildings began to become clearly visible, and even that inexplicable malice weakened significantly.

A bold guess formed in Nie Ning's heart.

Could the power of that bizarre creature formed from flesh and blood come from the surrounding mist?

If that were the case, perhaps he could deal with this bizarre creature and then use 'Assisting Evil' to enslave it?

"Give it a try?"

For a moment, Nie Ning hesitated.

After all, this creature was so sinister that capturing it would definitely be a huge help.

And...

Nie Ning turned to look at the writhing meat paste on the ground, and an astonishing thought couldn't help but pop into his mind.

It should be edible if cooked, right...

Although eating this thing was a bit repulsive, if it could be converted into combat power, it didn't seem entirely unacceptable.

After all, its regenerative power was simply too strong, completely beyond the scope of Nie Ning's understanding.

"I'll risk it!"

Nie Ning grit his teeth, a flash of madness crossing his eyes. He then gripped his long sword tightly and walked toward the meat paste.

As Nie Ning continuously attacked the meat paste, the surrounding mist became thinner and thinner until it almost completely disappeared.

Seeing this, Nie Ning's eyes turned into Tiger Pupils, and he slammed a palm onto that shattered face whose features were already completely unrecognizable.

Immediately after, Nie Ning slowly lifted his hand, and a Greyish-White Balloon was snatched up.

The surface of the Greyish-White Balloon bore a bizarrely twisted human face, its surface constantly bulging with bubbles that switched between bursting and reforming.

As the strange balloon left the body, the bright red flesh rapidly turned into a decayed deep brown.

Just then, Nie Ning's ears twitched. He looked toward the end of the street, where several figures seemed to be moving.

He had no time to examine the strange balloon. Sensing someone approaching, Nie Ning casually sliced off a piece of the decayed meat from the ground and then turned to leave quickly.

...

Shortly after Nie Ning left, several figures arrived before the meat paste.

After a careful examination, they finally confirmed that the creature causing the anomaly was dead.

"It's actually been dealt with. When did someone capable of handling this kind of thing appear in Ska City?"

Looking at the decayed meat on the ground, the lead man couldn't help but show a look of confusion.

After all, even they could only manage to seal it; they were completely unable to kill it outright.

"Could it have already transferred?"

One of the women suddenly spoke up.

Hearing this, the others were stunned for a moment, but their faces soon took on a grave expression.

If that were the case, then things would be a bit serious.

According to their observations, once that ghost-like thing grew up, the entire Ska City would likely have a problem.

The lead man pondered for a moment before speaking, "Clean up the remains first. Whether it transferred or not will have to wait for confirmation."

Hearing this, the group took out a metal box and began to clean up the surrounding decayed flesh.

Once the decayed flesh was cleared, they glanced at each other and quickly left the area.

...

The next morning.

BANG!

The woodshed door was kicked open.

Norma walked into the woodshed, covering her nose. She glanced at the small pot in the corner bubbling with black foam, then turned to glare fiercely at Nie Ning, who was sitting on the ground.

"What are you doing! You aren't allowed to boil shit in here!"

Nie Ning rolled his eyes inwardly, then gestured wildly as if he hadn't heard her.

In truth, Nie Ning felt somewhat helpless himself. How was he supposed to know why this pot of meat turned out looking like this?

Not only was it pitch black, but it also emitted a foul stench.

He must have lost his mind earlier; he clearly wanted to leave directly at the time, yet he had inexplicably kept some of the meat, which was completely inconsistent with his usual cautious personality.

Truly, what the hell!

"I forgot you can't understand human speech. It seems I really need to find time to persuade the Young Mistress to throw you away. Keeping you in the manor is just a waste of food!"

Norma remained sharp-tongued, her face full of disdain and disgust.

If he hadn't grown accustomed to feigning madness and stupidity, Nie Ning would have really liked to give this brat a couple of flicks to the forehead.

'Forget it, a big man doesn't stoop to the level of a petty person.'

In the end, Nie Ning could only comfort himself this way.

After all, this brat just had a sharp tongue, but she rarely went to Lilith to tattle, which could be considered one of her few merits.

Nie Ning used sign language to ask Norma what she wanted from him.

Norma looked at the black pot on the ground and waved her hand to indicate it was nothing important, only telling Nie Ning to hurry up and dispose of those things.

Otherwise, when he followed Lilith out in the future, if others caught a whiff of him, they would think the Hervis Family had hired a Beggar.

...

Seeing Norma leave, Nie Ning couldn't help but scratch his head.

However, it was likely that Lilith was going out, which was why she sent Norma to find him; normally, Norma wouldn't come to his door voluntarily.

Unfortunately, he really didn't have time today. Even without this pot of meat, he would have found another reason to refuse to go out.

Because although his face looked fine, his body was already covered in scars from last night's battle, and he couldn't afford any exertion.

Looking at the black soup bubbling in the corner, Nie Ning's thoughts churned for a moment, hesitating whether or not to give it a try.

In the early morning, Nie Ning had caught some small animals for experiments, wanting to test if that decayed meat could grant him Supernatural Self-Healing powers.

But this meat seemed as if it had already spoiled; the animals that ate it either died or got diarrhea, with no sign of Supernatural Self-Healing at all.

However, he could see from previous experiments that larger animals had stronger resistance; rabbits and wild chickens at most just got diarrhea.

As someone with Supernatural Adaptability, Nie Ning felt he had a very high probability of obtaining Supernatural Self-Healing.

But it was only because his mind wasn't clear last night that he wanted to try the decayed flesh.

As a human being, now that his consciousness was clear, he couldn't help but feel a bit of resistance toward such anti-human behavior.
