233: Chapter 233 Repairing the Formation
After much effort, Nie Ning finally cleared out a space of about a hundred square meters, revealing the contents within to the two of them.
Generally speaking, there wasn't anything overly complicated.
A runic diagram was carved onto the ground, with two stone pillars resembling bull horns extending from either side of the diagram.
Except for a missing section at the top, it looked like an oval wheel, covered in a large number of Runic Formulas.
At the left corner of the diagram was a directional pillar, which had nine grooves and some Runic Formulas that resembled switches.
"It seems to be some kind of teleportation device. Could it be a Teleportation Array used to travel to Belvis World?"
Heloise squatted on the ground, examining the Runic Formulas on the floor as she spoke.
However, compared to the Teleportation Array in Wantai Forest, the two seemed somewhat different.
Teleportation Arrays were still too advanced for a wizard of her level; she couldn't fully translate the Runic Formulas on it and mostly had to rely on guessing.
"That would be too much of a scam."
Nie Ning rubbed his chin, feeling speechless.
He had gone through so much trouble, spent so much time, and traveled across mountains to reach this dump.
He had expected endless wealth to be waiting for him, and this was it?
"That shouldn't be right. That group of people had a clear goal; they obviously knew what was here."
"If it were just to travel to Belvis World, they hadn't undergone the Truth Transformation, so even if they snuck in, they probably couldn't withstand the World Will. Perhaps this is for teleporting to the location of that treasure?"
Nie Ning thought about it, and this seemed like the most plausible theory.
Of course, in reality, Nie Ning was just unwilling to give up and wanted to know where this Teleportation Array actually led.
Besides, even if it led to Belvis World, it wouldn't be a bad thing. If it led to where wizards and humans were, then they might not need to return to Wantai Forest.
Heloise sighed: "Let's try it, but some of the Runic Formulas are missing, and I don't know if I can complete them."
As Nie Ning often said, since they were already here...
Heloise immediately began the work of deciphering the array.
As for Nie Ning, he used the excuse of potential danger after teleporting to go out and practice his Blood Cloud Escape wizardry, though in reality, he was wandering around looking for Strange Beasts he hadn't hunted yet.
For Nie Ning, regardless of whether they would encounter danger, increasing his strength by even a little bit was always the right move.
At least judging by his recent improvements, as long as he activated his Strange Beast Body, he had the strength to fight anyone who wasn't a peak late-stage Fourth-Ring wizard.
...
One week later.
At this moment, Nie Ning was squatting to the side, taking out a towel to wipe the sweat off Heloise, and then feeding her some brewed soup.
There was no helping it; three days ago, the girl saw him doing nothing and started acting like a spoiled princess.
To appease Heloise, Nie Ning had to take on the job of taking care of her.
Compared to the delicate work of repairing the magic array, taking care of someone was slightly simpler.
"How is it? Is it done?"
Seeing Heloise stop her work, Nie Ning asked in a hurry.
"Just about."
Heloise nodded.
Repairing the array was a very tedious task, taking a whole week to barely complete the repair work.
Just as Heloise opened her mouth, wanting more soup, Nie Ning, upon hearing that the repair was complete, drank the rest of the soup in his hand in one gulp.
"Shoo, shoo, shoo. Do you really think you're a spoiled princess? Now that it's fixed, go play somewhere else."
Nie Ning grabbed Heloise by the collar and tossed her aside without ceremony.
If he didn't still need Heloise, he wouldn't tolerate this brat who kept pushing her luck.
"Do you know how to activate the array?"
Heloise smoothed her hair, leaning against the wall and staring fixedly at Nie Ning.
Upon hearing this, Nie Ning's heart skipped a beat, but he still stubbornly retorted: "What's hard about it? It's not like I haven't used one before."
After all, he could use the Teleportation Array in Wantai Forest; there was no reason this array would be any different.
Heloise, standing to the side, said nothing more, but the mockery in her eyes was undisguised.
Nie Ning then walked over to the square stone pillar, took out mid-grade magic crystals, and placed them in one by one, all the while praying in his heart, 'It must succeed.'
When the nine magic crystals were placed into the grooves, the runic circuits below lit up with a white glow.
Seeing this, Nie Ning couldn't help but breathe a sigh of relief and shot a provocative glance at Heloise.
Yet Heloise remained unmoved, as if she knew Nie Ning wouldn't succeed, and just went on eating melon seeds while watching Nie Ning perform.
At this point, Nie Ning had no choice but to bite the bullet and continue.
Unlike the array in Wantai Forest, besides lighting up, no blue pillar of light appeared.
Nie Ning tried it, only to find that it was completely unable to teleport objects.
There were many Runic Formulas carved on the square stone pillar, but no matter what Nie Ning did, he couldn't activate them.
Thinking for a moment, Nie Ning put on a smiling face, then slowly turned his head to look at Heloise: "Do you still want some soup?"
"I still prefer the way you were burning bridges just a moment ago."
Heloise curled her lip and spat out the melon seed shell in her mouth as she spoke.
"How could that be? I was just afraid you would be in danger, so I was helping you test the array first."
Nie Ning put on a kind and amiable smile and served Heloise another bowl.
Heloise took a small sip of the soup and looked at Nie Ning with eyes full of mockery: "It really is delicious. No wonder you're so protective of your food, Master."
Upon hearing this, Nie Ning was about to explode with anger, but on the surface, he still kept a smiling face: "It's good, right? There's still a whole pot left."
In his heart, he kept comforting himself: 'She's my disciple, she's my disciple, don't get angry, don't get angry. Sooner or later, she'll pay it back tenfold...'
Heloise rolled her eyes, knowing what Nie Ning was like, and couldn't be bothered to argue further.
She then took the spatial bag from Nie Ning's waist and retrieved the necklace Lilith had given to Nie Ning.
The necklace emitted a purple light.
At the same time, the Runic Formulas on the stone pillar inlaid with magic stones, which hadn't been activated before, all lit up.
Nie Ning widened his eyes. He hadn't expected it to be this simple. He couldn't help but curse himself inwardly for being so stupid; how could he have forgotten such an important thing!
It was all Heloise's fault; he had been so muddled by this brat!
However, this time, Nie Ning didn't show any dissatisfaction, lest he be played by this brat again.
It was fortunate that he hadn't shown it.
The Runic Formulas on the stone pillar floated up and began to move, following Heloise's Spiritual Power.
After Heloise made some adjustments, the Runic Formulas slowly returned to their original positions.
The semi-elliptical pillars on both sides of the Teleportation Array lit up, and immediately after, a blue vortex formed, turning into an oval portal.
Seeing this, Nie Ning cursed the person who designed the Teleportation Array in his heart.
He hadn't expected such a small Teleportation Array to have so many procedures.
If it weren't for Heloise, he might not have been able to decipher it even if given a year.
