67: Chapter 67 Mental Power Amplification
On the way back, Ivy's words echoed in Nie Ning's mind.
Ivy didn't specify what kind of help she needed, but in order to meet that Rune Master, Nie Ning had no choice but to agree.
Of course, Nie Ning had his own principles; he naturally wouldn't help with anything illegal or immoral.
This wasn't to say he was a good person, but rather that killing innocents and such was meaningless, especially when there was no enmity between them.
He wasn't an assassin, and he hadn't reached the point of using any means necessary to achieve his goals.
Just as the group returned to the building where the agency was located, they found Tracy standing there, looking as if she had been waiting for a long time.
"Mr. Bronk, I wonder if I might invite you for a drink?"
Seeing Nie Ning and the others approach, Tracy stepped forward with a smile and asked.
Borton and the other two gave Nie Ning a strange look, not understanding why Tracy was looking for him.
Nie Ning thought of the cultivation method.
He hadn't expected that before he could seek her out, Tracy would come to him on her own.
As for why he didn't just ask Ivy for help, it was because favors were indeed hard to repay.
Setting aside whether he could even obtain a cultivation method, given Ivy's status, the price for her help would only be higher.
Only if there were truly no other way would Nie Ning perhaps try to seek Ivy's help.
"Of course, let's go to the tavern across the street."
Nie Ning said, pointing to the tavern opposite them.
Borton's expression shifted upon hearing this, and he inwardly cursed Nie Ning for not playing fair.
He had previously told Borton not to provoke customers, yet here he was, turning around and hooking up with one himself—what a duplicitous, wretched fellow!
...
After letting Borton and the others head back first, Nie Ning and Tracy went to the tavern across the street.
Since it was still daytime, there weren't many people in the tavern, and they each ordered a light fruit wine.
"I wonder if there's something Ms. Tracy wanted to see me about?"
Nie Ning took a small sip of the fruit wine and asked casually.
"Can't I come to see you even if there's nothing specific?"
Tracy leaned forward, drawing close to Nie Ning, her words full of seductive intent.
Seeing this, Nie Ning appropriately moved his chair back a bit.
After all, Tracy was now a Viscountess; it wouldn't be a good thing if they were seen like this.
Tracy chuckled, then sat back in her chair and naturally placed her hand back in her bag.
"And you? Since you agreed so easily to come drink with me, I imagine you must have something on your mind?"
Nie Ning hadn't expected Tracy's powers of observation to be so keen; as expected, someone who could hook a Viscount was no pushover.
"There is indeed something I'd like to trouble Ms. Tracy with."
Since she already knew his intent, there was no need for Nie Ning to hide it.
"I wonder if Ms. Tracy could help me ask the Viscount if he would be willing to sell a High-Tier Knight cultivation method to me?"
"A High-Tier Knight cultivation method?"
Hearing this, Tracy's eyes narrowed slightly.
Even if she didn't understand the way of the knight, she could see the preciousness of a high-tier manual.
Most importantly, since Nie Ning wanted a high-tier cultivation method, did that mean his own strength wasn't weak either?
Thinking of this, the smile on Tracy's face grew even more radiant.
"Of course. It just so happens I'm free tomorrow; let's meet at my ex-husband's old house. I'll bring what you want then."
Nie Ning hadn't expected Tracy to agree so readily.
However, he didn't perceive any malice, and Tracy was indeed just an ordinary person.
Although he couldn't figure out what Tracy was up to, if he could obtain a high-tier cultivation method, it wouldn't hurt to go.
After all, he was a High-Tier Knight; if Tracy had any unreasonable conditions, he could simply refuse.
...
The two chatted for a while.
Because Nie Ning still needed to process the strange beast meat, he left the tavern first.
Seeing Nie Ning leave, Tracy smiled.
"He really is cautious."
Her gaze returned to the table, and she couldn't help but look at the fruit wine Nie Ning had only taken one sip of.
After a moment of daze, Tracy shook her head slightly, poured Nie Ning's fruit wine onto the ground, then stood up, paid, and left the tavern.
...
After returning to the manor, Nie Ning began processing the strange beasts he had obtained from the auction.
The most important one for Nie Ning was a creature called the Chara Mountain Fox.
The Chara Mountain Fox was not a strange beast native to Ska City; it could manipulate earth and perform Mental Interference, which was an ability to disrupt emotions and cause the opponent to see illusions.
Although the Mental Interference was very weak, it at least proved that the Chara Mountain Fox had a talent for mental power.
Compared to other strange beasts, the flesh of the Chara Mountain Fox had a musky odor that remained even after being cooked.
Nie Ning suppressed the urge to vomit and ate the Chara Mountain Fox meat.
In just a moment, Nie Ning felt a jolt to his spirit, as if his very soul had become light, and the objects around him became clearer.
"It works!"
Knowing the Chara Mountain Fox meat was effective, Nie Ning immediately began to feast.
However, since he hadn't bought much Chara Mountain Fox meat, Nie Ning finished off the other strange beast meats as well.
All sorts of strange sensations filled Nie Ning's body, but soon his stomach began to 'rumble'.
Feeling a bit of discomfort in his stomach, Nie Ning immediately ran to the toilet to relieve himself.
...
About half an hour later, a foul stench drifted out from the toilet.
Taking advantage of the fact that no one had noticed yet, Nie Ning hurried back to his small cabin.
"Good thing there's no toilet inside the room, otherwise it would be a disaster..."
After using the toilet, Nie Ning felt his body become much lighter, and he felt refreshed and energetic.
