119: Is Wang Baoqiang such a great actor?

Zhao Hao was an ordinary movie fan.

He had been following Wang Baoqiang since lost on journey.

Like most people, when he watched lost on journey and lost in thailand, he was too busy laughing to notice Wang Baoqiang's acting skills at all.

So when news of this movie, "Hello, Mr. Tree," first came out, his initial reaction was one of disbelief.

Then he recalled that while watching lost on journey and lost in thailand, it seemed he really hadn't paid much attention to Wang Baoqiang's acting.

Thinking this, he became very curious about Wang Baoqiang's performance in this film.

Today, he managed to snag a ticket for the movie.

Arriving at the cinema, he saw at a glance that the theater was packed.

Finding his seat, he could hear many people around him discussing the film.

Listening closely, they were all wondering if Wang Baoqiang's performance in this movie was truly as good as the promotions claimed.

Soon, the movie began.

After watching the opening, he realized this movie seemed different.

It didn't seem like a comedy; listening to the score and looking at the visuals, it felt more like a tragedy.

As he continued watching, he grew more and more shocked.

Wang Baoqiang in this film seemed like a completely different person.

Though he still looked somewhat foolish, it lacked the simple-minded goofiness of lost on journey and lost in thailand.

"How does Wang Baoqiang feel so different?"

"Exactly, this scene feels so realistic! There's someone just like this fool back in my hometown."

"Since when did Wang Baoqiang know how to smoke? Did he learn it for the role?"

"Do you think he's really smoking or just faking it? Can a smoker weigh in on this?"

Hearing the discussions around him, Zhao Hao couldn't help but frown.

Wang Baoqiang's image in this movie was a total transformation from his previous roles.

Moreover, there wasn't the slightest sense of incongruity; just by looking at him, he felt that Wang Baoqiang was Tree.

As the movie continued, he found it increasingly incredible.

He used to think Wang Baoqiang's acting was just mediocre, as long as he was funny.

Looking at it now, it wasn't that Wang Baoqiang's acting was bad, but that he simply hadn't showcased it before.

Furthermore, wanting to play a fool well was no easy task.

Just like the actor who played Mr. Bean; his IQ certainly wasn't low, yet he was willing to play a fool and made people all over the world remember him.

Meanwhile, on the other side.

At the premiere, the screening had come to an end.

After watching the film, Dean Wang was still savoring the final sequence.

The scene where Wang Baoqiang is under the tree and, in a trance, sees a pregnant Xiao Mei speaking to him.

She was even holding his hand, walking under the winter sunset amidst the white snow.

The scene quietly shifted, showing Wang Baoqiang's hand merely grasping the air as he walked along a path between the fields.

"It was filmed exceptionally well. Not just the filming, but the editing too. I really don't know how you thought of editing it this way," Dean Wang said, looking at Chen Le with a complex expression.

Chen Le was too talented—talented to a degree that didn't seem possible for a young man.

Chen Le didn't answer Dean Wang; he looked toward Wang Baoqiang.

Wang Baoqiang also had a complex look on his face at this moment. Having finished watching the final cut of the movie, he could hardly imagine that he was the one acting in it.

He felt that with just his acting alone, the effect wouldn't have been this good, but combined with these editing techniques, it became incredibly powerful. This was something he hadn't expected.

"Baoqiang, your acting is just too good!" Zhou Yiwei said from the side with a look of amazement.

After watching this film, he felt inferior; the acting was truly superb.

That sense of flat, mundane despair still lingered in his heart.

"Baoqiang, I feel your acting isn't any worse than those Film Emperors," Lin Jialong also said with a face full of admiration.

He had originally thought his own acting was decent, but like Zhou Yiwei, after watching this movie, he was completely won over.

"I don't think my acting is that exaggerated; the post-production editing deserves a lot of credit. I... I never expected they could edit the movie like this. It's amazing," Wang Baoqiang said, scratching his head with a smile.

Zhang Songwen and the others listened and nodded.

The post-production was indeed well done. They noticed that the post-production on all of Chen Le's films was excellent and the speed was very fast.

After the end credits finished, Chen Le led the main creative team onto the stage in front of the screen.

Below, many reporters were waiting to conduct interviews.

After watching the movie, they were also very surprised that Wang Baoqiang's acting had actually improved so much.

Furthermore, the film's editing techniques felt very fresh and novel to them.

Subsequently, a reporter was the first to speak and ask his question.

The question was directed at Wang Baoqiang.

"Hello, Mr. Wang Baoqiang. I am a reporter from Sina News. I saw that the character you played is an old smoker. I'd like to ask, do you smoke in real life?"

Hearing this question, Wang Baoqiang said with a smile, "I don't smoke or drink in real life. Before filming this movie, I didn't touch cigarettes or alcohol. It was only to film this movie that I forced myself to learn how to smoke..."

As he spoke, he even mentioned the fact that he smoked three packs a day, which surprised Dean Wang and the others present.

They hadn't expected Wang Baoqiang to be so dedicated and take acting so seriously.

The reporter then asked Wang Baoqiang a few more questions, which he answered one by one.

Immediately after, the reporters' microphones turned toward Chen Le.

"Hello, Director Chen. What was your original intention for creating this movie?"

"To prove Baoqiang's acting skills and, while I'm at it, win him a few awards," Chen Le said very bluntly upon hearing the reporter's question.

The reporters were a bit embarrassed to hear his words.

Although they felt Wang Baoqiang's acting was indeed good, awards weren't something you could just get whenever you said so.

"Then may I ask why you wanted to create such a script in the first place? What made you set the story in the Northeast?"

Another question was thrown at him. Seeing this, Chen Le could only continue to make things up.

Meanwhile, on the internet.

The first batch of movie fans who had finished watching "Hello, Mr. Tree" shared their reviews online one after another.

"This movie is so awesome! Wang Baoqiang's acting is incredible!"

"It's too real, the content of the story feels like it happened right around me!"

"I feel like Tree in the movie is me. It's too hard!"

"Okay, so am I the only one who didn't understand what this movie was about? But Wang Baoqiang's acting is still very good."

"This movie definitely didn't boast for nothing. The plot is hard to say, but Baoqiang's acting is particularly good. He looks like a completely different person to me."

"Tree is so tragic, living in his own world. It made my heart feel heavy. Baoqiang's acting was too realistic."

Online, everyone's evaluation of "Hello, Mr. Tree" was mixed. Some felt it was great, while others said they didn't understand the plot and found it boring.

However, without exception, they all felt that Wang Baoqiang's acting was very good, directly refreshing their perception of him.
