223: Yang's parents are pressuring him to get married!
Mother Yang took the bag, and regardless of its contents, a smile appeared on her face.
After all, this was Chen Le's kind gesture; how could she worry about what was inside?
She wasn't after these things anyway.
"Alright, Little Le, you shouldn't have spent so much. That brand of chinese liquor must have cost a fortune, right?"
"It's alright, not much," Chen Le replied, shaking his head.
"It might not be much to you, Little Le, but for Old Yang, it's worth several months of his salary. This brand of chinese liquor is too expensive."
"It's fine, Auntie. This wine can even appreciate in value if you keep it," Chen Le said with a smile.
"Alright, Old Yang, did you hear that? This wine is too expensive. You should keep it. Today, I'll allow you to drink brand of chinese liquor." Mother Yang said, walking up to Father Yang and taking the maotai from his hand.
Seeing this, Father Yang didn't feel upset at all.
Because he himself was reluctant to drink it.
Since he couldn't drink it anyway, there was naturally no talk of feeling heartbroken over it.
On the contrary, he was quite happy.
Because Mother Yang had made an exception and allowed him to drink brand of chinese liquor.
Obviously, compared to drinking maotai, brand of chinese liquor was much more economical.
At the dinner table, Father Yang happily raised his glass and said to Chen Le with a smile, "Come, Little Le, let's have a drink, the two of us!"
Seeing this, Chen Le also smiled and raised his glass.
Mother Yang watched from the side and couldn't help but say, "Didn't Little Le drive here? Why are you letting him drink?"
"It's fine. We'll just have Little Le stay here tonight and go back tomorrow," Father Yang quickly said.
Hearing this, Mother Yang said nothing more.
Afterward, Mother Yang looked at Yang Mi.
Since Chen Le and Father Yang were drinking, she naturally had to chat with Yang Mi.
Then, Mother Yang asked about Yang Mi's recent situation.
Yang Mi nodded in response.
It was currently mid-October, the second half of the year, with only two or three months left until the New Year.
Mother Yang chatted on, and suddenly said, "Mi Mi, the New Year is only a few months away now, and you and Little Le have been dating for several years. I was wondering when you two plan to get married."
Hearing Mother Yang's nagging, Yang Mi's face suddenly flushed red.
She wasn't particularly anxious herself, but Yang Father and Mother were.
They had long wanted to hold a grandchild. Seeing that the two had been dating for so many years and still weren't planning on registering their marriage, they kept worrying about it.
"Mom, it's still too early for us. My career is in its rising phase right now, so getting married isn't ideal." Yang Mi could only use this excuse to placate her.
Although this reason was partially true, the main thing was that she felt it was too soon, and a few more years would be better.
After all, it had only been a few years since she graduated from university.
"A rising phase doesn't hinder marriage. At worst, you can just wait a few years to have children; it's not like I'm asking you to have a baby right after getting married," Mother Yang continued.
Yang Mi heard her mother's words but was a little skeptical.
That's what they say before urging marriage, but who knows if they'll continue to pressure for babies after the wedding.
"Maybe in two years," Yang Mi continued.
"Alright, then let's make it two years." Seeing Yang Mi's perfunctory response, Mother Yang didn't press the matter further.
After all, she couldn't tie the two of them up and force them to marry.
Meanwhile, Chen Le and Father Yang next to them were drinking happily.
Especially Father Yang, who hadn't had a drink in a long time, downed several cups in a row.
He knew that if he didn't drink enough this time, it would be a long time before he could touch alcohol again.
Compared to secretly drinking, drinking openly like this was clearly much more satisfying.
Especially drinking openly in front of Mother Yang.
Just as he was thinking this, Mother Yang's voice rang out.
"Old Yang, why have you drunk so much?" Mother Yang had just finished talking with Yang Mi when she saw several empty bottles of brand of chinese liquor on Father Yang's table, causing her to frown.
She hadn't expected Father Yang to be able to drink so much.
In contrast, Chen Le had only drunk one bottle.
"That's enough, don't drink too much," Mother Yang said, snatching the wine bottle from Father Yang's hand.
Father Yang now looked bleary-eyed and drunk.
But when Mother Yang took the bottle, he didn't make a sound.
He had drunk enough this time.
Afterward, Chen Le also put down his bottle.
He felt his head spinning slightly.
He didn't usually drink Baijiu; he mostly drank beer and red wine.
This was his first time finishing a bottle of Baijiu straight, and now that the kick was setting in, he felt a bit drunk.
Beside him, Father Yang was in the same state.
He had drunk more than Chen Le, and although his alcohol tolerance was good, it wasn't that good.
Thus, he passed out faster than Chen Le.
Seeing this, Mother Yang frowned deeply and grumbled with some resentment, "Every time you finish drinking, you look like you're completely out of it. I told you not to drink so much, but you just had to."
Yang Mi heard her mother's nagging, looked at Chen Le, and helped him up as well.
Seeing this, Mother Yang smiled and said to Yang Mi, "Mi Mi, take Little Le upstairs first. He's drunk."
"Okay." Yang Mi nodded.
She then took Chen Le upstairs.
When Chen Le gets drunk, he usually just sleeps quietly.
Father Yang, on the other hand, was starting to get rowdy again.
Fortunately, Yang Mi had taken Chen Le away, or they might have repeated the Sworn Brotherhood scene from last time.
Upstairs, Yang Mi struggled to place Chen Le on her bed.
Seeing Chen Le lying there quietly, Yang Mi breathed a sigh of relief.
Luckily, Chen Le didn't cause much trouble; otherwise, she wouldn't have known what to do.
Yang Mi left the room and returned to the first floor, where Father Yang was now sound asleep on the living room sofa.
Yang Mi saw Mother Yang approach, holding a bowl of soup.
"Mi Mi, make sure Little Le drinks this soup," Mother Yang instructed, handing the soup to Yang Mi.
She had brewed the Hangover Soup long before dinner.
Because she had long anticipated this situation, and now it seemed her preparation was perfect.
"Okay." Yang Mi took the Hangover Soup and went upstairs.
Back in the bedroom, Chen Le was still lying there quietly.
Yang Mi put the soup on the bedside table, supported Chen Le with one hand, and fed him the soup with the other.
After he finished the soup, Yang Mi was about to take the bowl downstairs when, unexpectedly, a hand grabbed her.
"What is it, Old Chen?" Yang Mi asked, seeing Chen Le holding onto her.
"Come here." Chen Le still had his eyes closed, but his voice reached her ears.
Yang Mi sat down next to him, and before she could react, she was pinned down on the bed.
"Old Chen, this is my house!"
But Chen Le paid no attention.
Seeing this, Yang Mi was utterly helpless. She could only pray that her mother wouldn't come up, as she hadn't locked the door.
Soon, more than an hour later.
Mother Yang finished cleaning up what Father Yang had just thrown up and dragged him off to take a shower.
"Honestly, drinking so much when you can't handle it. You're truly worrying."
Upstairs, Yang Mi dragged her somewhat weak legs out of the room.
Fortunately, Chen Le had fallen asleep after he finished his antics; otherwise, it would have been hard for her to escape.
She walked out of the door and sighed in relief when she realized her parents hadn't come upstairs.
After taking a shower, she finally saw Mother Yang dragging Father Yang upstairs.
"Mom, what happened to Dad?"
"He threw up. He's so troublesome. Little Le wouldn't be like this, right?" Mother Yang said with a look of helplessness.
"He wouldn't." Hearing this, Yang Mi felt a bit grateful to her father for buying her time.
